Traffic Police officers can come back on duty if in civilian clothes based on the incident. They follow the procedure of filing everything and calling the on duty officers to take charge. Same goes for Patrol Officers. They can also become onduty officers based on the incident but have to follow procedures of calling the local police department and then filing everything on the paper. Both can do arrests if needed. This is typical procedure if the case goes to court then evidence is provided by parties involved. Reason why usually off duty officers do not involve is lack of evidence unless they have go-pros or dashcams in there cars or on themselves and recording everything which is never the case...!!

@@garyboyle695 You are probably correct, having not having had any collisions whilst driving my car, a HGV or riding my cycle, my awareness must be lacking. I will try to work on it. Thank you for the feedback. It is probably not conceivable to a person with good awareness like yourself that the car driver had slowed down to negotiate the left turn, thereby enabling the cyclist to close up on the car. I am guessing that you are not assuming that the car like the bus had moved out crossing the central line to give distance when overtaking the work truck. But you are assuming that that it was because the car driver had overtaken the cycle, not captured by the filmer. Unless your imaginary friend give you the wink and a nod of what happened leading up to this incident. I bow down to your superior awareness, spatial awareness and road sense. Had the cyclist not overtaken on the left, but had instead overtaken the car correctly on the right, the self entitled cyclist would not have come a cropper.
A lot of cycle paths are on the left side of the road so cyclists have to pass cars on the left all the time. Highway code says you need to let cyclists pass before you turn left, that's why you need to use your mirrors before turning
Relevant highway code: Rule 170: "at junctions [...] remain behind cyclists". Rule 182: "Do not overtake just before you turn left and watch out for traffic coming up on your left before you make the turn". Rule 211: "Do not turn at a junction if to do so would cause the cyclist going straight ahead to stop or swerve, just as you would do with a motor vehicle." Rule H3: "You should not cut across cyclists [...] going ahead when you are turning into or out of a junction or changing direction or lane>" Is that clear enough? You need to think that on every road there is a place where cyclists can and should be riding - on the left. It's like a lane for traffic, but it isn't always painted. What the car has done is overtaken the cyclist and then turned across their path, injuring them, exactly as if they had overtaken a car in lane 1 of the motorway then cut across it to take the slip road, causing a collision. Would you be yelling at someone who smashed into a vehicle that cut them off to take a motorway exit for "trying to undertake"? The cyclist could have done better by riding defensively but they only had about a second to react before there was no avoiding that incident. And, to reiterate, the car driver would have been *forcing* the rider to ride defensively, which is absolutely awful driving. Does your supposedly excellent awareness include looking to your left before you turn left, or have you just been forcing cyclists to stop or get hit and leaving them behind without noticing?
Oh dear more of the Scottish immigrant.. think he's quite lucky he hasn't spent a lot more time in hospital the way he rides his pushbike.. spends little time watching where he's going and a lot more time trying to grass on anyone he doesn't like. Never heard him grass anyone on a pushbike for not stopping at a red light.. or riding against the flow of traffic like I see too often though. A lot of cycle paths are on the left side of the road so cyclists have to pass cars on the left all the time. Highway code says you need to let cyclists pass before you turn left, that's why you need to use your mirrors before turning
Relevant highway code:
Rule 170: "at junctions [...] remain behind cyclists".
Rule 182: "Do not overtake just before you turn left and watch out for traffic coming up on your left before you make the turn".
Rule 211: "Do not turn at a junction if to do so would cause the cyclist going straight ahead to stop or swerve, just as you would do with a motor vehicle."
Rule H3: "You should not cut across cyclists [...] going ahead when you are turning into or out of a junction or changing direction or lane>"
Is that clear enough?
Does your supposedly excellent awareness include looking to your left before you turn left, or have you just been forcing cyclists to stop or get hit and leaving them behind without noticing?
cyclists don't go up the inside. That was your fault
Oh dear more of the Scottish immigrant.. think he's quite lucky he hasn't spent a lot more time in hospital the way he rides his pushbike.. spends little time watching where he's going and a lot more time trying to grass on anyone he doesn't like. He admits he wobbles a lot, so he does know he is unsafe on the road. Never heard him grass anyone on a pushbike for not stopping at a red light.. or riding against the flow of traffic like I see too often though. I called him that because if he acted that way in Glasgow his life would be in danger from people wanting retribution.
Get you mister tough guy, all mouth.
#23 ...... you need to stop being a drama queen, how much of a meal do you want to make of it........ damn 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
The only drama queen was the copper.
@paul8161 no, the drama queen is the one on the little put put. Making such a big deal of something like that is pathetic. To all intents and purposes, the police guy saw a person on a bike threatening someone, even if it wasn't the case
@babylon5mh dream on buddy.pmsl...watch the video it's the copper who's the drama queen.
@paul8161 what ever...... you're obviously one of "those" people, sad really but never mind
@babylon5mh lol,, get a grip.. one of those people that disagree with silly statements yep.
#5 oh now, your friend had to walk a few meters.... Oh the humanity...
Your attitude sums up a lot of selfish drivers. What if an ambulance or fire engine needed to get in there! Absolutely no chance.
If disabled, then crawl?
@@jbuckley2546 if disabled, you already have a method of travel, be it a chair or sticks.
How much further are you gonna dig your own hole ..
Park in your damn driveway, don't have one? Then don't own a car.
@@graemepennellSome disabled people need help getting out of the car by someone on the other end, how do they get their chair out if they're on their own. You're not thinking at all
That "Road Rage " piggy who pulls the bike?...WTF...Stepped out into live lane, then puts himself and biker in danger blocking another lane!....Talk about ego!
And is obviously off duty and in a private car, got out of car at traffic lights, left engine running, stopped on double yellow lines, what an idiot.
