Five years ago, the first video I ever saw on this channel was "LITERALLY AN INVASION THAT WENT ON FOR 60 MINUTES" where the host kept resummoning the same phantom in a completely cleared Irithyll. That video completely sold me on Saint and I subscribed right after that. Always loved watching these long, spiteful invasions.
I remember that one, the title especially. Saint definitely makes content that sticks with you. Some of those old DS3 vids were hilarious to the point I'd be randomly quoting them in real life on a regular basis lol. Still do.
You know, I woke up this morning, feeling pretty good about things - it's Christmas eve and all. Then saw a Saint Riot video. Thought, heck yeah. Then I got to the family member being chopped up a little at a time bc diabetes part, and... wow. Thanks for that, Saint. Merry Christmas.
i love how dragging out the invasions you get this sense of like everyone is a character, there have been all these unresolved encounters and built up tension, a certain vindictiveness from some of them, and the invader is of course the hero of the story
the one thing that I think elden ring nailed with its pvp design, which ds3 also did well, is making unskilled players dangerous when facing a single invader as a team. Many things about how they got to that point are flawed, but especially since the 1.10 patch, simple R1 spam being dangerous is something I think is necessary in a game like this with a pvp system like this. I hope that the final major patches for this game refine some of the things other than that which are not at all in a good place, and that future souls games with multiplayer take a serious look at the flaws these games have always had in terms of multiplayer, and how you can keep making successors that feel legitimate and fully featured while also addressing those flaws. It's quite incredible how different these games are from pretty much any others, in terms of how complex balancing them is and how many different factors you need to consider. The idea of a multiplayer mode where one side of the multiplayer is considered "the bad guys", and the desired outcome is that they usually lose? I can't imagine how difficult it is to approach something like that. I wonder if the concept of invaders having a secondary goal which can be considered a soft victory condition will ever be something they'll experiment with. Sometimes needing to drag out an invasion for up to an hour or more, elsewise having no recourse: that's probably one of the biggest flaws I was alluding to. What if you could complete some sort of objective to power up the boss/enemies in the level if the host doesn't kill you first, but in exchange the invasion would instantly be over? Simply choosing to sever out is an option currently, but it's an option that breeds resentment. Giving you an option for a lesser victory if you choose to pursue it would be similar to the choice co opers currently have to fog wall or hunt an invader down.
I actually love "playing lame" as it is often called in the fighting game community. This slow, defensive, patient playing. It's super entertaining to me - to play and to watch. Loved this video.
I had this on in the background and didn't really start listening until I heard the diabetes anecdote, gosh. That is a mood regarding those kinds of invasions. YOU GOT ME STUCK ON THE DIABETES THING.
I can tell you fullstop that being patient and winning the invasion is way more entertaining, at least from my perspective. Part of the reason I enjoy your content so much is that you take the time instead of charging in.
Something grandpa Peeve said about gankers that gave me a bit more patience, is that in Elden Ring you're all they've got. So waste their time, make them desperate and sloppy. Happy Holidays.
I had the name of those knights on the tip of my tongue too, I swear it's such a simple name but of course when you want to actually remember it it'll slip your mind lol.
working on my brawler "Uncle Bushmills". He's a classy uncle pub brawler that's not allowed in half the ritzy tourist pits in Dublin. Was insulting some English gits and got hit by a beer trolly. Now he's naked and in the lands between with only his fists to lead him. Oh! Turns out the Godrick Soldier greaves look like they have on just regular old green dress slacks under the plate and mail with a belt if you don't have on a shirt... and this uncle never has on his shirt.... oooo its exciting.
Yea, I certainly sort of miss the longer invasions, but I also don't mind the short ones. I've grown up along side both so I'm all for it, though I am getting tired of 'blink and you miss it' type invasions.
Love me long invasions. Love me patience. DS1? Dual Sanctus slow heal backup for those passive hosts. DS2? Farmed warmth on every build. DS3? Backup Blessed x2+Simple x2. If I may toot my own horn, I had a great couple of long invasions, cut down for this video th-cam.com/video/YSZTSVm57iU/w-d-xo.html
I’m probably even more hard-stuck thinking about the diabetes thing, because I’m diabetic. I do good work, I take care of myself, I don’t have uncontrolled highs, my A1C is like 6.9, but I still don’t want to think about that. This disease is controllable, but, fuck, man, if you don’t… god. Fuck.
I love that I legit thought that you were going to lose in that invasion. I swear you're the only Soulsborne content creator that includes footage where you lose in your edited TH-cam videos.
Yeah they don't want to fight you. You're ruining their experience to try to amuse yourself. No shit they play lame against you. No one could ever be lamer than an invader
I love the mindset of the people that spam rotbreath specifically. "Maybe if I cast this three more times in a row he'll just walk into it and die!"
I've seen coinvaders who did just that, so they aren't wrong at least some of the time.
“They’ll never expect.. ANOTHER CAST”
But forty times in a row
and the guy with the flies? he kept spamming them like 10 times even after seeing them not reach the target multiple times... plain braindead.
I had a duo doing that to my Pyromancer in a random cave, Endless Rot Breath, eventually I got them but damn that shit is obnoxious
Honestly an easy counter to that if you're able to do it and not get attacked by their teammate is storm blade

@@egocide9034 Same lol. "pommel big enough to prolapse" just lives in my head rent free.
That video must have gotten a lot of new eyes on his channel because it was the reason I found him too.
@@egocide9034my true nemesis! the enemy that i hate!
Saaaaaame!

Ah, the invader is always the protagonist, yes, but they need not always be the hero...

They're called cleanrot knights
I had this on in the background and didn't really start listening until I heard the diabetes anecdote, gosh. That is a mood regarding those kinds of invasions. YOU GOT ME STUCK ON THE DIABETES THING.
dark souls 3 patience invasions were some of my favourite ones.

Uncle bush mills lore goes hard
Oh my god he always knew chat. It was a metaphor test thought experiment
I'm a cleanrot knight
What a congruent man, eloquent and shining.
I miss those ds3 invasions… you had straight up heroes and villains and character development over those ridiculously long invasions
"damn that's fuckin... sucks" i felt that
One of your best videos in a while IMO
I guess Rot Breath is the new Toxic Mist Pyromancy, cant believe I just realized this
The uppercut build looks nice
Saint's videos are always some of the coldest invasions possible, and I'm here for it. XD
Yea, I certainly sort of miss the longer invasions, but I also don't mind the short ones. I've grown up along side both so I'm all for it, though I am getting tired of 'blink and you miss it' type invasions.

Imparting great advice and wisdom, as always, as well as putting a smile on my face. Keep it up, dude.
I havent even watched the video yet.
You streaming again on youtube tommorow?
lol - great vid as always!
Have you ever tried chanpions's ashes mod for DS3? I just downloaded it and it seems amazing!
Miquella’s most patient Knight
I tend to be a little too patient. Warming stones and health regen talisman can provide good heals saving flask for the fight.
Name of the first song in the background?
Good luck, saint hates crediting artists.
hell yeah bro they feel the best to win, worst to lose!
5:26 He said the name! Poggers!
Well, no Christmas candy for me this year 🤷♂️
Why yes I do have kids and a job that doesn’t allow these types of invasions. Are you spying on me???
I’m probably even more hard-stuck thinking about the diabetes thing, because I’m diabetic.

Don't get me wrong, these types of invasions are PAINFUL, I hate them.
I just hate the hosts more.
Good shiii cuh
I love that I legit thought that you were going to lose in that invasion. I swear you're the only Soulsborne content creator that includes footage where you lose in your edited TH-cam videos.
Because you only watch Saint. JeeNine and Steelovsky always show their losses.
Honestly i knew you'd remember what they were called so i didn't comment anything 😂
Saint, they're called "Cleanrot Knights"
You're supposed to call yourself an idiot.
Yeah they don't want to fight you. You're ruining their experience to try to amuse yourself. No shit they play lame against you. No one could ever be lamer than an invader
