13:15 man I didn't know that, why the f* all the info is duplicated in every following node? That's is dumb as f*! Now I see why everything gets heavy and unstable so quickly. I've said it many times, Maya should be rewritten from scratch but autodesk spend all the money in sales people and marketing instead of developing the software and let users do the marketing for free because that's what happens when you have a cool peace of software, people like it, do stuff with it and talk to other people about it. 😡
Are the slides openly available? I'd like to do the exact same thing with a part of our artist team, but with colleagues that are not so proficient in English, so I can't just link them this video.
What structure is Houdini built on? Can we call it as graph theory based 3D graphic processing software very similar to Maya from the aspect of data structure types used to develop the program? In my opinion as an amateur Maya user, Houdini has a greater way of doing things compared to Maya.
It was built on unix. Meaning it's a lot more like a file / data management system. Every node has read/write permissions and a record of the user who created it. Once you focus on what you want to do, it's usually pretty logical and pragmatic as to how to go about doing it in repeatable steps.
I'm new and trying to learn Maya, but I have a programming background. And that rock example made me tingle with happiness :D Hello Houdini.
Same for me C++ experience and 10+ years with Maya, now looking to this with dropping jaw. But it is too fu*king painful to change pipeline.
I would like to know how do you import 3D tracking data from another program to Houdini
