      @@PeteVree the stop is in NC true state that way connection automatically bypasses through stop and it makes sense when you press start button NO state, engages and connection is established to the coil which stays engaged. When you press the stop button the NC State changes to false thus disengaging the circuit. So the stop button should be a NC button.

      @@PeteVree Stop is considered healthy with NC for safety reason. For example, if you consider stop healthy with NO contact and if the wire is broken then stop will always be healthy. This is an unsafe condition.

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kevin had this to add to the discussion:
      E-stops rules dictate a NC contact as the first means of control in a ladder that is in series with the whole control circuit. Aside from that,, you have to break the current flow on your rung, so naturally a NC just works. Technically speaking you could do a NO stop and run it through a relay as a NC, but why? Good practice for this particular circuit would be a NC e-stop first then a NO stop push button followed by your NO start in parallel with your coil latch, etc. I think what got people talking is you made a generic motor control circuit as a PLC program which is an unconventional approach to PLC programming. This was obviously a tutorial on how TIA works not how to program a complex set of ladder instruction. In my world, e-stops wouldn't live in this section of a ladder, but rather run through the first few rungs in series with other safety devices with redundant inputs and an output manifested as an input in this section as a NC.

    Dobry wieczór. Jestem prawnikiem w przeszłości i mieszkałem w innym kraju. Teraz mam możliwość odbycia szkolenia Siemens S7-1200. Pomóżcie mi zrozumieć, gdzie taka wiedza jest potrzebna, aby szukać pracy. W ogłoszeniach gdzie jest wzmianka o Siemens S7-1200 zawsze jest to wymagane w wykształceniu technicznym. • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You can configure your program to match your wiring of each individual switch.
      However, just keep in mind that for Stop switches, E Stops... there may be safety requirements that must be adhered to in the specs or local Code requirements.

    • @mofuonamotorcycle
      @mofuonamotorcycle 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mohammad, think about this. If I pulled the wires out of your stop button, how do you stop the machine before it kills someone?
      For safety reasons, the physical stop buttons and emergency stop buttons in the field are ALWAYS normally closed. This means the PLC is always receiving a signal from the push button.
      The reason for this is that if the cable is cut, the machine will stop instantly. This is fail safe.
      For the same reason the start button is ALWAYS normally open. If the cable is pulled out of the button, the machine will not start by itself.
      When designing circuits, always think, you have to stop it from accidentally starting and you always have to be able to stop it.

      Hi Pete, back to this question, I noticed unless I have a physical input (I don't, doing everything in PLC SIM), How do I mimic the default state of the button to be NC? I want the contact in the PLC to show as NO but the button default to be NC so logic is true, but I can't figure it out. Seems I have to make due with a NC contact in the PLC program and NO button in the HMI?

    • @mofuonamotorcycle
      @mofuonamotorcycle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is because the HMI is not a push button. The program written is using the digital input connected to a NC push button. The HMI is on profinet, it is not connected to the inputs. You would rewrite the code using latching blocks so that all the conditions for on such as safety relays, guards etc turn on a memory bit called "safe to run". Then you would have "safe to run" & "pb_start" & "hmi start" latch the block on. Then you would have "not safe to run" & not "pb stop" & "hmi stop" unlatch the run signal

    The reason plugging it into the back of your PC did not work is because, by default, the Ethernet is setup as DHCP and gets a IP dynamically thru a DHCP server, in a router most typically, otherwise it does not have a distinguishable IP.
    Plugging it into a router was the easiest solution as it both provided the laptop an IP and put both devices on the same network so the software could find the PLC, another solution if out in the field without a router is that you can setup your laptop Ethernet port, IPV4 network adapter, with a static IP.

      I have three new courses to teach this year, that I have not taught in years... so all of my free time has been spent developing the course material, and learning Arduino programming. Also, my understanding of the use of Function Blocks was not correct, so you would have seen in the last videos that I was primarily placing all of the program within OB1. Now I feel I have a better understanding of how to call up subroutines within TIA and my programs are a lot more organized. Check out Philipp Paus' channels for some decent TIA content:

    I found the reason why we can't connect directly from the PC to PLC with the stuff that comes in the kit. If you look closely at the plug on the green ethernet cable, there are only 4 wires in it, not 8. It must be for the hmi to plc connection only. Use a standard patch lead and you can connect straight to the PLC without using a router.

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Siemens does not offer their products for free. There is an immense amount of engineering that goes into creating a software such as TIA Portal. If you are asking for a free version because you are too cheap to purchase a software license then our discussion is done.

    • @roshankhandale4786
      @roshankhandale4786 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes i have not that much money that i purchase siemens software , and one thing i know that siemens have that reasons . but why delta providing a software .. am i wrong if i asking for a reasons to you if you think its ok wrong, ok then ..

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My best answer is that Delta is a smaller company, they make the software free for use in the hopes that you purchase the actual PLC and thereby increase their market share. However, Siemens and Allen Bradley have a much larger market share and so they can charge a large fee for the software. At this point I am not aware of any free versions of the TIA Portal. I totally agree with you that the price point is way too high for those entering the field and It would be nice if they provided a limited demo version for those of us learning their software. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    stop switch should be normally closed not normally open

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can explain why I'd appreciate it. In my understanding, the Stop PB is physically wired as a normally closed contact. In some Siemens demonstrations they use a normally closed instruction. However, in that case, you will have not way to see whether there is an issue with the push button contacts. By using a Normally Open, you can see immediately if the Stop PB has a loose wire.

  • @أحمدسليمانأحمد-ظ2ذ
    @أحمدسليمانأحمد-ظ2ذ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a logic fault , the stop pushbutton should be an normally close contact.
    Because it is not logic to push the stop to be able to start.

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not petty at all. Do you have an explanation as to why I would use a NC for the stop. Many comments on this, but no explanations as to why people are being taught to use NC for the stop.

    • @Jesusiscomingsoon613
      @Jesusiscomingsoon613 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeteVree E-stops rules dictate a NC contact as the first means of control in a ladder that is in series with the whole control circuit.
