    i've been vegan for 2 years and still find it inconvenient to eat out, especially since i live in a small town where there aren't any strictly vegan places. Recently Tesco have brought out a line of vegan sandwiches which should be easily accessible in many areas! I'm glad you're enjoying your vegan life so far

    Good stuff girl! I love how positive you are about the experience. I struggle with the "things in things" thing (lol) too, even after more than a year of veganism. Everything seems to have milk in it! But it forces me to eat healthier and snack less so it's kind of a win. Would love to see a "What I eat in a day" video if you'd like to make one. Keep it up 😊💕

    The best resturant here in london for vegan food is in Chelsea called Wulf and Lamb, honestly please just go, things you must try are the mac and cheese and the burgers! Also in Camden there are plenty of stalls and also a vegan Chinese takeaway buffet place you would really like called Dou Dou. There are other places such as pickywops, the Green Bay, Vx, temple of seitan. There is a place about to open in Covent Garden called By Chloe which will be AMAZING as I’ve been to ones in the states. I would recommend searching all theese places I’ve mentioned on Instagram and giving them a follow and search!

    You have to try Zizzs, they have amazing vegan pizzas and desserts, actually loads of places have pizza with vegan cheese these days. I recommend the app HappyCow, you just enter a location and it shows you almost everywhere with vegan options nearby. It's great! Wagamama just released an incredible vegan menu! They have Katsu curry and dumpling and loads of yummy food. Counter do a great vegan burger. The list goes on! I wish you luck and hope you're enjoying being vegan xxx

    It can be an adjustment but you’re doing well! Slip ups can happen which is absolutely fine. In regards to eating out - don’t be afraid to ask the staff to customise it for you - making a dish dairy free or asking for a vegan menu. Most places will be willing to provide you with one or the other :) xxxx

    i work in london and have been vegan since september some great lunch places are: abokado, itsu, pret do some amazing vegan soups perfect for this weather, if you pass by a pipel (and you like falafel) i definitely recommend it - the portions are huge and its so so tasty!! LEON is another good one for vegan options, EAT. too.. once you find things you like you'll get used to it :) most of the italian chains like pizza express, zizis, ask etc. do vegan menus and pizzas and they are really really good! xx

  • @Ellieking99
    @Ellieking99 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m quite a fussy eater, and I find it really difficult with lunch when I’m out. Holland and Barrett are usually my best bet, most ones with a freezer will have vegan sausage rolls, Cornish pasties - all those kind of quick meal deal type foods. If you’re passing a bakery too and they have vegetarian signed options it’s always worth just asking if they use milk or eggs etc, bc sometimes they don’t so it’s vegan too.

  • @miaalicex
    @miaalicex 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you're going out for lunch/dinner at a restaurant, Italian places always have vegan options (Zizzi's, Pizza Express etc) because it's easy to make pizza vegan, and most places have vegan cheese now as well. Thai, Japanese, and Chinese food hardly use dairy so most of the vegetarian stuff is vegan. Wagamamas have loads of vegan options and you can swap egg noddles for rice noodles or soba noodles in the vegetarian dishes. For on the go stuff, supermarkets are probably the best place bc they have lots of vegan sandwiches, wraps, ready meals etc. Or you could make sandwiches/wraps/salads yourself at home and then take them with you when you go out so you know there's stuff that you like in them!!! X

    This was a good watch! I'm not doing Vegan January, but have recently been inspired so much by watching different TH-cam vlogs of vegans and the benefits plant based eating has had on their lives. I tried it on Monday and I got to Friday then frustratingly I failed. However tomorrow I am going shopping to start again. I did notice in those short days I was bang on it I felt healthier and had zero heartburn!!! So I can see how the long term would probably make me feel really good. I need to tell myself I've got this lol. I just subscribed too! x

    In a lot of supermarkets such as tescos they do falaffel wraps with houmous and mango chutney which is really nice! Tescos have also got a new range of sandwiches and stuff. Aldi do nice tomato based pasta pots. Also loads of cafes and restaraunts seem to be doing more vegan food, and will have their own vegan menu like Zizzis or will do vegan options it's mainly just a case of asking and finding out.

  • @luciaamoroso9222
    @luciaamoroso9222 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    supermarkets often have salad stations near the deli section and usually have a couscous or potato thing, so they're good lunches. or grab something like a box of falafels and a salad bowl and combine. or you can often get chilled pasta and couscous salads in the coleslaw section of the supermarket. hope that helps x

    As a vegan I would say ignore everyone who tries to put you through a purity test by saying you "can't" call yourself vegan this month. Vegan is a journey & I'm still learning, I started w the diet & then moved into other things when ready & as I ran out of things & switched them out. As far as I'm concerned you are absolutely vegan rn... it's not a switch that's 100% flipped overnight for most of us 🤗 just found your channel & love it too!

    There’s always vegan simosas in most places like M&S, Tesco and Waitrose. Also carrot sticks with hummus/ apple with peanut butter. You can get vegan sushi, Tesco do a falafel wrap, Waitrose do some nice lunch stuff. You can even grab pasta from the sections where all the potatoe salad is. You can snack on falafels or hummus with a pack of nachos, popcorn, M&S have some vegan iced buns with fruit in. Starbucks have vegan options for lunch as does Nero. In London there’s stacks of actual vegan places but most places do have vegan options. That stew/casserole looked amazing I’m going to make one this week 😍 xx

    Hey Emily, just a tip for when eating foods containing iron such as the oats and soy milk you had for breakfast, try to avoid drinking tea or coffee with those meals, as the ingredients in those drinks inhibit your iron absorption. You can have your tea afterwards, or maybe half an hour before hand, I would say that would be fine. (:

    if you wanna call yourself vegan, YOU DO YOU BOO! As a vegan, I'd say you were being/following the vegan lifestyle :)
    -Try the Vitalite spread, it's cheaper and tastes sooooo good!
    -Use the "failed" caramel as a sweetner for like oats and stuff :)
    -Try the Almond Breeze Vanilla milk (so much better than the soya one omg)
    -Try cashew milk and you will love it!
    -Don't worry about slipping up, at least you're trying?? Focus on what you HAVE done! Keep going Em!
    About the going out thing...I don't know if it would be hard for you to maybe food prep and carry things with you? Even if it's a sandwich or leftovers from dinner. I know a lot if not most of the coffee shops have now got at least one vegan option, Itsu and Wagamama is around here in London quite a bit, and you can get a few vegan options from Tesco Express' and Sainsbury's Local too now. If you're in "gentrified places" like Shoreditch, Brixton, Peckham, or around more affluent areas such as Soho, Mayfair, Portobello, Chelsea etc, there's usually niche cafes and independent shops as well as chain stores that should sell vegan food.
    HAPPY COW APP - shows you vegan and vegetarian options based on your location too and I think it's a free app. Also, when you're around London, look for what area you'll be around that day roughly, and search for what I mentioned above, then look at those places and download their menus - most should have some available online :)
    ps - Btw, next time you're in London, go to Temple of Seitan in Hackney if you can - you will not be disappointed!
    HOPE THIS HELPS XXXXXXXX

      Wulf and Lamb - in Chelsea
      Juice Baby - in Chelsea also
      Rawligion - on Tottenham Court Road
      Farm Girl Cafe - in Notting Hill
      Mildreds - which has a few locations.
      But if you're not looking to eat out anywhere there are so many vegan pick-up options now in supermarkets particularly Tesco, Waitrose and even Aldi.

    Personally because i live in a small city in Greece it's also hard to find vegan foods. But i can find pizza with vegan cheese, risotto or vegan burgers. But i prefer to cook at home. Because you know exactly every ingredient and of course more healthy. And honestly i don't mind if everyone is eating and i am not. Because i know what i am doing is right. I understand you because you are still at the beginning. I really hope that you keep going over January.

I feel so much better mentally and physically eating this way so I hope it does the same for you 💖 I must say, I hate how often other vegans have something negative to say, like"you're not a proper vegan/ full vegan/ blah blah blah, etc", just be happy for someone who's giving it a go! being negative and nitpicky isn't going to encourage others to try it 🙄 same goes in other areas of life but I'm just saying lol

    I would check the menus before you go out for food so you know what to expect in the restaurant! I'm not vegan but this helps me with certain foods I like to avoid and if Ive already decided before I even look at the menu in the restaurant then I won't get tempted by the food I'm not allowed, plus you'll know in advance if a certain place doesn't do vegan food and you can avoid that place altogether rather than being stuck once you sit down! I think you're doing fab so keep it up! :D

    So nice to see that you seem to be enjoying going vegan, it can be difficult in the beginning while you suss everything out, there are animal products in things you would never even think off so it's always best to come prepared in case you can't find anything to suit you when you're out.
    Perhaps look into buying some Cliff or Naked bars to keep in your handbag when you're away from home, I also find that small quantities of nuts are enough to fill me up until I find something more substantial.
    I can't give you much information on London specifically, but you have chosen a really great time to go vegan as you will find something in most supermarkets that will suit you. I'm a fellow coriander hater so I know that it can be a bit of a struggle!
    Boots do two vegan sandwiches that I know of and have a few lovely salad pots as well,
    Tesco have recently brought in a new range by Wicked Kitchen which have lots of lovely unique sandwiches for you to try.
    My local asda Asda does a hummus and falafel wrap but I'm not sure if this is a nation wide thing and also I've seen a few Spar shops in city centres starting to stock some nice options as well.
    Plenty of local delis will be able to provide you with some pasta/soup options too and of course, there's always burrito places!
    Naturally Stefanie and Supreme Banana are both really good resources for new vegans, Stefanie is based in the UK and has done a few videos on the vegan options in chain restaurants and Supreme Banana has videos on how to eat vegan in almost any restaurant you can think of (including KFC!)
    I hope this has been helpful and good luck on your journey :)

    Sneaking dairy into products that I don't think have milk in it is still something that gets me sometimes -- and I've been began for 3 years. Just keep at it, it's not about perfection, it's just about trying your best.

    Boots is my favourite spot for vegan meal deal options! They have a lot of delicious stuff and things that aren't usually the like typical vegan prepared food options. In terms of restaurants there's loooooads in London, wahaca is amazing if you like Mexican! And I've heard incredible things about Temple Of Seitan, vegan fried chicken in Hackney!

      Bethanie Lauren you can just start by having one vegan day every week, and take it from there. once you find the products and recipes you like, Its actually quite easy😊. Also, If you educate yourselves about the agriculture industry Its easyer to stay motivated😊

      That's such a great tip, thank you! I don't eat a lot of meat so I don't think that part would be too hard for me, I will definitely start doing it at least one day a week!

    Co-op falafal wrap is lush 😍 M&S do like...little rice pots and things some are and arent vegan you'll have to look... starbucks have released a vegan pulled jackfruit pittabread thing... i used to buy pitta/carrots and hummus for lunch... and i agree, the most difficult part of being vegan is the "ingredients" like dairy is in EVERYTHING and it irritates me so much!!! Been vegan for 3 years and its still irritating!!
    Its all trial and error! Keep it up you are doing well!

    I feel like the only way to stay motivated for being vegan is remembering why you're going it, for your health, the animals and the environment! Also you should think about getting some b12 supplements as not maybe plant based foods have it! The thing I find most difficult about being vegan is eating out it's just one of those things unfortunately but a good tip is just to bring food with you xx

  • @marina6474
    @marina6474 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Em! Yeah you should do more vegan vlogs and what you eat in a day and updates,
    And don’t worry about slipping up, maybe you could eat vegan at home and vegetarian when you eat out so you can enjoy your food more.
    I think you are doing fine with your diet, anyways I suggest you to buy some supplements such as Vitamin B12 and vegan protein powder which you could have inyour breakfast with your bowl (it’s not going to add barely any taste) or in your post workout smoothies.
    😘😘😘😘

    On days that you go out, google first what vegan dishes the restaurant offers. Many chain restaurant vegan options are listed in blogs. If there is none, look up their menu and decide on what you want to order and modify dishes to make them vegan. Use HappyCow.net website or get their App to show you places with vegan options. It’s like a vegan Yelp app 😊

    If you are near Oxford circus/bond street tube station then you could go to deliciously Ella’s deli (the weighhouse one) she also has one nearer marble arch, but those are good for quick easy to grab lunches and everything is vegan (I think, there might be honey in a few things) there’s also wild food cafe in Neal’s yard, Covent garden which I’ve heard is good but haven’t tried it out myself. Farmacy and detox kitchen are some others, but just google vegan restaurants/cafes London and you’ll find loads, the list is endless xx

    When I'm out I always opt for the tesco falafel wrap as part of the meal deal! The co-op also does a similar one (p.s. co-op donuts are vegan - even the custard ones!). If not, Pret is good like you said especially the all veggie ones in London, and starbucks does a vegan wrap but I haven't tried it because it has jalapenos in and I hate spice! At the moment though, I'm trying to prep lunches the night before so just making a double portion of dinner as it saves money and you know you'll always have something to take with you the next day :) xxx

    • @lucyhannah3618
      @lucyhannah3618 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the giant samosa things you can get in tesco etc in the chilled bit are normally vegan! And Holland and Barrett does a really cheap flapjack that's roughly 500 calories so really good for quickly getting calories in if you're in a hurry!
