We sold our loyal 1988 Jeep Comanche! It has been an amazing truck to own and run, but it's time for it to go to a new home. Here's another look at how the truck came out during our time with it. We are please to report that we sold our Comanche to a local buyer who, in return, asked us to match his donation to a local charity, which we did. This is the single most frustrating thing about TFL. Ya'll get these really cool old cars and trucks, make a few videos with them at first, they disappear for 6-9 months and then you unceremoniously sell them off camera Just like the Scout, just like the Bronco. You say you've run out of ideas on how to feature them on the channel. How about asking your viewers what they want to see?
I also like updates, rather than the vehicles just disappearing, never to be heard from again.

I had one just like it! I loved that truck. I traded mine off in Cheyene, WY in 98. I had over 170K on it. I wish Jeep still made a similar truck today. I sure miss it.
Oh man, what a truck. My '91 cherokee 4.0 HO looks just like it. I love that cherokee but there were times when I wished it was a comanche instead. I now have a 01 Dakota and an 04 Ram 1500 along with the jeep but that comanche would have been the pride and joy in my garage. Thanks for sharing!!

there are two rules to jeep Comanches. You find a nice one you can afford you buy it.second rule you never sell your jeep Comanche because you will forget it for the rest of your life.
I never thought these were that attractive back when they were new, but man it looks good compared to most of what they are putting out today! I really miss single cab small trucks!
For the person looking for a comanche this is ideal. i'm glad yall got this , but it's just not TFL material. I mean, what are you going to do with it? it's too classic to modify heavily and you don't want to use it as a recovery rig on the rocks. I like it i miss the jeeps of old( tj's and stuff with 4.0).

Tommy, How 'crunchy' is that rebuilt transmission? I only ask because you mentioned it in a recent video on this truck.
Right Lane Hog First shift into second on REALLY cold days can crunch, but it’s been great other than that!

honestly worth the price, im lucky I got my comanche for $1800 with the lift and was able to fix it after the wreck I was in, hope it finds a good home

I used to have one but I had to sell it because the I had rest issues up underneath and it was the frame I really didn't want to get rid of it but you have to do what you have to do at times I love that truck so much if I could ever get one like that again I would take care of that sucker just like I took care of alien that's that's what I called it alien with an attitude thank you very much and I hope somebody gets it and takes care of it like I took care of mine like I said if the rust underneath for the frame wasn't there I would still have that jeep you guys are awesome

Haha, yeah, I've seen a lot with at least the release handle broken off or failed, and of course many structurally damaged to the point beyond being able to be latched, due to extreme overload situations.
I’ll miss this Jeep Comanche just like I miss ole Big Green. Those were great ole gals!!! So much character. Who ever buys it, update us on how’s she doing and what you did with it!!! This one I really hate to see go.
Some bed liner on the underside, cargo box, wheel wells, rocker panels and up to the rubber trim and your golden
I have an 88 Comanche 4.0 5-speed 4x4 that’s just as clean as this one if not cleaner and with only $7k into it
I have my first Jeep YJ Sahara since new with only 3200 miles show room condition, its now time to have it over to my daughter, and I would drive the truck.
I could only dream of owning this beautiful Comanche. BUT... I just couldn't afford to buy it in the least. My poor '96 XJ will have to do even though it has the proverbial floor rust that come normal on any Jeep in the midwest, KC area specifically.
Man, that's great truck. I wish I could buy it. Hope who ever buys it takes good care of it. I really doubt there is another one in those conditions.

Rebuilt the Peugeot transmission for 2K instead if an X15 swap as well as put a new cat on it instead of just removing the cat entirely?

well that was a mistake , you will end up regretting selling it, they simply do not construct pickup trucks like that one any more . solid construction and damn reliable too

This is so sad. I would have a really hard time letting this truck go. Here in Wisconsin you could probably count on your fingers how many clean Comanches are left!

I had a yj that me and my dad had built, my first vehicle and had about 20k in mods/upgrades into it and lost it about a year and a half ago to someone not giving me the right of way. i was looking for a Comanche for a long time then ended up buying a 07 ram shorty about 6 months ago. if you guys had been selling this at that time i would have 100% have been willing to buy this, too bad I couldn’t afford it anymore , would have loved to own it.

Sold my 89 jeep grandwagoner in March right before the pandemic, thank god because used car values are falling very fast, the whole used vehicle market will be affected from the pandemic, I don't think you'll get anywhere close to 10k, not in the pandemic

Only thing needed to add is lightweight winch. I think it has another hundred thousand left, only sad thing is if in a accident then the insurance company will not fix cause of age. The transmission being the weak link and then the wiring as known for problems. I would drive hell out of it and not cry when it coughs a lung out

Nice but for $9500 no thanks you can find them in southern California for around $2,000 put $3,000 in mods into it and have a nicer Comanche for way less.

I am very much looking for a Comanche like this, renix 4.0 with a 5 speed, 4x4, and a short bed. However, I'm quite disappointed it's been lifted with large tires. It's so hard to find one that isnt.
I'm considering this, trying to decide if I can live with that tall suspension. I had a stock 88 Comanche SporTruck, very similar to this one, and have major sellers remorse.

It is not really fair to charge the next buyer the price of the transmission when you guys made a mistake buying the truck for $6500.00 not knowing the transmission was bad. The truck should have been a running and driving example for that much money considering the condition of the rest of the truck.
If you think it's not fair, don't buy it. In a free market, there are buyers and sellers. What you consider "fair" may not be to to next person. If the price is too high or "unfair", people won't buy. Something tells me this will sell to someone because finding a clean comanche in 2020 isn't easy.

You can still buy R12 off ebay. I did it for my 88 LC and charged it up
Lot more involved than “just charging up.” You have to evacuate the system in order to find the leak. Fix the leak then charge it back up.
I'd rather have a clean stock unit. Modifications are so variable as to value. You need find someone with the same tastes as you.

I saw one in St Catharines Ontario within the last two years. It was in much worse condition than this example, but not totally falling apart. It definitely caught my attention. Most of these rusted apart many years ago in my area.
