Furthermore, if she had watched the film she really should have known, and the fact that she didn't shows that the story in the film and the film itself didn't affect her and teach her at all. No, anyone can play anyone. A female actress can play a male character and an actor can play a female character. In acting there shoudln't be rules and specially not about who can play who and who cant

Elle's character was biologically still a girl who took hormones to suppress their femininity and was trying to get their father to sign off on letting them get surgery to complete the transition.
