Wow, this video is absolutely brilliant! Your dedication to finding creative ways to decentralize your electronics is not just inspiring-it's downright revolutionary. The way you turned an old camera into a viable alternative to your iPhone showcases your ingenuity and your commitment to sustainability. It’s clear how much thought and care you put into your projects, and it’s one of the many reasons I admire you as a person. Your ability to take seemingly outdated tech and breathe new life into it is a gift, and your passion shines through in every second of your video. You’re not just making content-you’re encouraging a mindset shift that challenges the status quo. Keep being amazing, my friend. The world needs more creators like you!
Photographer here. No, that feeling won't die off. I don't take much photos when I just have my phone. I sometimes get the urge to buy that's quite rare. Got my camera over 6 years ago. Just as excited to take photos to date. I also take many more photos to save as moments with my camera
thats awesome to hear the feeling hasnt gone away, and i assume it wont for myself either... it's always such an awesome experience to take those photos that you know will last your entire life!
I’ve been on a phone detox journey myself lately, and set up an old record player and CD player in my living room and started collecting physical media again. There’s really something to be said about the tactile experience of purposely using something that is meant for one thing only.
yeah the single use devices have become something i need to have in my life now after realizing what the smartphone was doing to most of my hobbies or the things i enjoyed. what cd player u got?
I have a Sony w90 with remarkable image quality. It was my dad's camer so I don use it for fear of losing it. Additionally i bought a RX100 from ebay and imagine quality is absolutely on another level. I bought not because I'm trying to detox from a smartphone but rather because I like photography and even the most expensive phone cameras look like crap
Pro tip: try to take your photos in portrait orientation, they look much better on social media platforms (that’s only if you intend on posting on your socials)
Oh yeah my dad's favorite side arm. God brings back memories. Something to be said about the intentional use of a camera vs the taking it for granted that you get with a phone. Though I find myself sometimes taking way too many photos with a phone camera. Also your dog is freakin adorable with the bandana.
Having the camera on me is a great way to also not spam photos on my iphone like i normally do hahaha i do the same, i feel like since its so easy and fast at taking photos we just get a bit hungry for as much photos of the moment as possible. My dog says he appreciates you
I picked up a ZV1 used recently I love taking pictures with my R8 but my lens is just so big and it screams “Rob Me”, I also hate how my phone looks + taking photos with a real camera is just so much more fun
i heard some awesome things about the zv1! those are a bit pricey but well worth the money if thats what youre looking for! im so glad you found something that works for you
The problem for me would be i would need to spend a decent amount to get good photos in all conditions i would take photos in. The sensor size on that camera is smaller than some cheap phones that take poor lower light photos. Maybe if phone addiction was an issue for me, spending another 200-300 at least on a decent enough point and shoot camera would be worth it. But i cant stand aocial media, dont browse it ever (i do upload to Instagram occasionally, i dont browse it still) and only watch TH-cam when i am at home and have time. I treat my smartphine as a messaging device and camera primarily. Occasionally for navigation, and banking.
sounds like you got a good system going! yeah the low light functioning for the camera is pretty bad, it doesnt do great BUT i notice that i use flash for literally every photo because most of the things im taking pictures of are people which for me works out perfectly on the sensor
A secondhand Sony RX100 II or III will run rings around any smartphone for image quality, and shoot in almost all situations outside of field sports or birds in flight. It shouldn't cost that much, either.
@raksh9 That would be around £400 used, to end up with a second device that weighs a decent amount more than the first device, for pictures that contrary to your statement will be marginally better in most point and shoot situation. My comment wasn't suggesting cameras have no place or anything. What I said was generally accurate.
I recently started doing the same thing, but using the Nikon Coolpix S9600. Tbh it just feels different and more satisfying taking photos with a digi-cam. Mine also has the Wi-fi function and it is easy to transfer them to your smartphone however, i always use the usb type C to SD card adapters. Also, keep up to great job! I just saw your 3 videos and I love em!
ive heard a lot of great things about those nikons! also thats insane that it has wifi functionality that's probably the biggest drawback about the camera is that i cant send photos easily to people without having a computer or some type of transfer nearby! thank you so much for watching and giving me your time i truly appreciate you
I disagree, on my Samsung I can double click the power button to go directly to the camera app (no unlocking required), take a picture or video with no distractions, then put it away. Other brands probably have their quick camera shortcuts as well
In terms of accessibility I do think modern smartphones do a great job, I still find though that my brain associates my phone with far too many other things and therefore I’m more resistant to take it out and take photos. I really have enjoyed having a separate device for photos in my pocket!
The trick is to have at least one camera that you can bring everywhere and is versatile enough to suit most situations. Then you can bring others if you like for specialized purposes, but the core camera will do most of the shooting.
Sony xperia 1 V mimics camera feel very well. It has a two position shutter button and by long pressing it from stand-by opens camera app. I get the point of this video though.
thats awesome, i have seen more modern smartphones trying to bridge the gap to add that tactile feel as well. i know apple is doing that soon with their newest iphone with an extra shutter / action button i believe!
@Isaac-OS Yes,I know about apple, but xperia has a user interface from sony dlsr(it even has that focus sound from them). It's the best phone to mimic a dlsr camera. I love to shoot with it.
I had an Xperia phone a while ago and I never liked the physical button. I found out that it's size and position make it difficult to press and adding some force to it while pressing the button ads a rotational movement, which ads trepidation to the picture, specially in low light conditions
The "too many memes and weird photos clogging up actual photos thing" hits so damn close to home
bro the amount of spam memes i have in my photos is unforgivable

@@Isaac-OS it’s a Technics SL-P12B, and the turntable is a Technics SL-B280. Speakers are Technics SB-2840s. Really really nice system.
I have this camera, absolute pleasure to use it even almost 14 years later
good to know it's still holding up for you! i love this camera so much as well

You're right. I miss my Digi cam that i sold years ago.
you can always go back and get a used one! well worth it in my opinion
Was that a flip camera!!! Gosh I miss those
It was!! Great little cameras, it still works flawlessly for me 😂
do you bring multiple camera when you are out? sometimes I can't decide when there are too many option so I ended up bring nothing
I usually JUST bring my w830! It’s a really nice size for me
