If it's stainless steel, using a #0000 steel wool, and vinegar makes very quick work of removing all the junk from the surface. I did both my tail pipes in maybe 15 minutes
Actually surprised that a wool/microfiber pad and car paint compound would be this effective! I always thought there were more abrasives in metal polishes. Can't wait to try this out, polishing exhaust is often really time consuming, and with how I use my vehicles, the results never last for too long! Amazing video! :D
Good gosh Sandro. That is an A-M-A-Z-i-N-G transformation. I wouldn't have thought that muffler would have been able to polish to a brilliance like that from what it looked like. In fact, the metal in it's original condition looked like an opaque type of metal that couldn't even be polished in the first place so I would have never even tried. Unreal. Now I know I can tackle the exhaust system on my 370z and hopefully bring it to a brilliance like you have done here. And it should be even easier because mine doesn't look anywhere near this bad. In fact, the metal underneath the car is in fairly "new' looking condition so it should be a breeze to bring out the shine. Really good video buddy. I learned something new today and that's always a good thing adding to my skills.
Yep, dont mind me, back again. Tonnes of other search results were returned for my "polish stainless steel" with me making no specifics about an exhaust, but yours came up near the top so ofc I'm clicking it first! I picked up the final front two parts for something today and need to apply my OCD to it, so in about 5mins time that'll be my next detailing mystery permanently resolved by a method I can actually do and I'm sure! [After edit] I was correct! I was going to blob some autosol onto a 2" pad and see what happened but now I've got a huge bottle of 400 compound left over and a well explained as to why it will fuflill my personal needs, I'm def going to try using that! Thx, Sandro. Another top video.
If you don’t want to spend so much prep time and use your polisher on something as dirty as a muffler, an old school trick wd40+steel wool works great aswell
Great vid 👍🏼 been doing this for 20+ yrs on my cars. Done on my 93 vette my ZR-1 and my mustang I just sold that I had for 4 years dailied through winter too. T-304 is key 👌
Fantastic result in almost no time at all. I never would have guessed you could use paint cutting compunds. I will really have to try this on some metal work. As I live in a country with harsh winters I guess you would compromise the rust prevention of the metal this way. Unless it is a stainless steel system.
YTep sandro your the best mate, i dont know if you are have herd the trucking industry has a product which you use as a snow foam and use a pressure washer and spray it all over stainless steel / Aluminium large transporters and then rinse off and the tanker or container is clean and looked like it was just polish, its used to come in a purple bottle and i think a lot of trucking supply companies would have it, but also you would need to get your car up high enough to spray it on wiat and then rinse it off perfect to get dirty under carriages, might need to do a couple of applications, but well worth it, maybe Sandro you may want to look into it, as its would be a massive time saver and you would gain more clients to do the undercarriage of their cars. :) Keep up the great work Sandro, your channel is the benchmark and perfect example of a car detailing and products review channel. :)

Awesome good work! Some of the comments ..smh!! There's Professional Detailers that offer this in a shop environment, especially when the customer/clients are paying $1000-$2mil!! There is a detail shop not far from me that does this. They do high end FULL Detail services.
Wow and I thought Autosol was the go-to product. Looks like I can use this on so many things like the old HQ chrome bumpers, alloy trimmings and of all things alloy mufflers! And maybe my alloy wheels on the sandman ute. Car craft does it again. The theory is sound, clean before polish. So was that muffler stainless, alloy or mild steel???
Great Video CCAD… I'm with Probo X in that I would not stop until my crazy ass had it like a mirror. I would like to see the same job using Mothers Mag Wheel polish and see which would have a better finishing result. Sweet project Cars Channel seems to get great results polishing everything from paint to plastic with Mothers.
I have a feeling many of those surfaces "perfected on that channel would look far less impressive up close with quality lighting.. They have some great videos, but they also do some things straight up wrong.. I stopped watching after I saw their coating application video.. They over applied it just atrociously thick, then let it flash for literally what looked like hours and then proceeded to forcefully scrub and scour all that sticky mess off with just two towels in a death grip and a metal warping amount of down pressure.. I thought it was a joke at first.. 😲😲

Awesome, Absolutely, Love Your Work, there's plenty more, but, in this case Love Your Work is appropriate, as it applies to all of your videos. I have white powdery deposits on many aluminium undercarriage components and wanted to restore them to as new without resorting to full strip down and blasting, but also didn't want to polish but restore the original cast aluminium finish. Thanks
Hi Sandro, why did you choose to use Snow+ (1 to 10) instead of an APC like Multi X as part of the initial wipe-down? Obviously there's no reason why you can't, and Snow+ at that dilution is pretty much like a milder/safer APC anyway. I'm just curious if there was some special reason.
my exhaust tip on my mazda needs work, but i cant really reach around it with a polisher. I tried car shampoo several times but it's not quite doing the job. Any other advice? Thanks :)
Most exhausts won’t have a top coating protective rust layer you can remove, it’s generally the same metal throughout - mostly a certain grade of stainless though it can be a higher or lower grade that’s more or less prone to rusting - though the outer layer can be machined. If by chance it is plated, generally a polishing process like this one won’t be aggressive enough to remove that plating, you’d have to go harder and more aggressively to remove a metal plating.
I see, that’s why I was confused… You recommend using one, then about 30seconds later you used a product that I assumed was the ceramic coating… sorry about that!!! What product do you recommend? I can’t seem to find any ceramic coating specifically for high temperature (Im polishing motorcycle headers) Any guidance would be appreciated Thanks!! Great video BTW…
Thanks but I don’t think there’s a real product solution for parts like headers or exhausts - the heat is just too extreme to have long term durability - maybe a ceramic coating like CQuartz Dlux could work for a few months. The main thing that’s going to help is avoiding short rides that create moisture/condensation and also regular cleaning to avoid traffic contamination fusing onto the finish.
A true polish doesn't leave anything behind - like a wax or sealant. It's basically a fine liquid/paste form of abrasives, and when you wipe it off there should be nothing left on the surface.
Nice! My problem would be that I'd just want to continue doing the pipes too. And of course it wouldn't stop there.
Probo X might as well

Only Colour paint won't prevent any without basic coating.
But I'm doing the same, quick an easy hiding the welding after cutting it open👌🏻

Why would you do that to a galvanized part..?

Wet sanding followed by Autosol will give the same result.
Impressive!
damnnn. u can use that muffler as a mirror.
Just one question... why?
Because some people take pride in their vehicles
This is for when they lose control after the car show hit a pole and overturn. The crowd will be in awe.
🙂
Is it fine to use sand paper to all the grim off?
Sandpaper will create sanding scratches that will be more work to refine
