I would definitely take the chain down between your truss & mezzanine, it could pull your ceiling down. I even think that is an OSHA violation. I know where I work we have high rises full of engine parts & mezzanines & none are allowed to be attached to the ceiling in any way. The support beam from the floor would be a pain in the ass but I think its the best way to go
I didn't want to say anything! LOL But your load needs to be from the center of the beam. You might think about going through the deck and having a straight up pull. You guys were close! move it over 8" and it will be a dean!!!
Also need to check if the roof can take the extra load.

I dare anyone to watch an episode on this channel and remain in a bad mood. This has to be the happiest channel on You Tube. Watching is always a day brightened.
I had to watch a couple episodes. They were annoying and goofy at first but now I’m hooked. Can’t wait for Sundays to get a new 20 minutes with the pecks.
As I continue pondering these guys, they’re still annoying and goofy but they’re great. Can not wait to see the big mini wrecker
@@thomasleonard9685 I think there was a time we were all once goofy and annoying. I know I had such a period, way too many years ago. To be honest, I wish I could return to being so excited about life and projects. I'm finding life nearing 80 overly sobering.and heavy. I'd love to recapture some of the spontaneousness of my youth. In the meantime, I'll let these guys cheer me up with their antics. It does help to have once been a serious gearhead.
I just recently discovered these guys. These guys Crack me up. I'm huge into four wheel drive stuff so I mainly look for technical content. These guys are just fun to watch. I'm sure I may learn a thing or two but it doesn't matter. They make me laugh.

Add it probably lowers your rotational mass
For its job it needs unsprung weight. I'd suggest going with the smallest diameter wheel that will fit over the rotors. That gives the tire more room to flex over the rocks. Use the tires as air bags? The truck came with 10" rims😂

Hey guys here is an idea for you. I was watching Trailmator Rory Irish, he is building a wrecker for Robby Layton. They were flipping through a note pad, no telling how old it was. Hand drawn of engines by size. Height, width, length, any measurement you would need to to fit an engine in a truck. That would come in super handy on a job like this.

Make it mid engine!! & put a 2 speed transfer-case under the seats :)
Tilt cab for motor access is your answer. You want to make that thing easy to work on.
As a retired civil engineer, I've done a little steel design and analysis of existing steel structures. Removing the timber column and transferring the load to the steel frame bent needs checked by a licensed professional engineer. Cheap insurance to avoid a catastrophic loss.

I agree with a lot of the comments here. Go with the tilt cab and stick with the 20” wheels. Also don’t change the color, the white looks so good!

If you insist on anchoring that from the I-beam ceiling, I would suggest adding gussets and tubing to reinforce the hole so it doesn't rip out over time. Then drill through the floor I-beam and anchor it with an eye bolt. You can add a turn buckle to take up the slack.

Guys, that chain is not tight, nor really loose. With that said, in my experience, that's a new building, and you should experience some minor settling of different sections of that new building, and you may see that chain tighten up. For now, heck of a safety net..

If you ran a steal beam from the ceiling like the chain it might work better. The chain will stretch over time, ask me how I know. Make the cab a tilt up like a semi and I like the 20" wheels better.

Peck Brothers, y enjoy your channel! I had an idea while watching the tow truck build. Y'all should do a pin and hinge mount for the cab of the mini/not mini tow truck. Hinge the front so when you have to inevitably work on the ol girl you just pull a pin and tilt the cab forward exposing the motor and to all you need to get to for working on it! Like a cab-over semi. 👍
The 20”s are definitely a better look 😮💨 maybe it’s the fresh rubber that seals the deal (stoked to see this thing moving under it’s own power 🤧)

The 20 inch wheels are sick
Forget the chain.... Build a simple wrap around bracket for the roof joist that will give a flat perpendicular surface to the beam on the platform. then place a 3/4" all thread rod down thru the top plate into the beam below.. This will give a straight load point to the roof structure.

Great attempt on the bracket sadly all on one side looks like ya might need to cut a hole and make one for the other side of the beam . Those wheels are the mutts nuts they're friggin awesomely beautiful. Great choice on the motor and the shorter top intake . Onwards and upwards boys
That’s the only way 20s look good on anything is wrapped in a 44” tire. The ls engine was the perfect choice for a wrecker compact powerful and reliable. Crazy little mini monster wrecker truck
I am super impressed by your junkyard cart ! It's pretty much asking to be motorized.
OK I commented too soon - 17s are too big, needs to be 16s or 15s! ALL SIDEWALL ALL THE TIME! (just kiddin- the 20s look fine and less sidewall is gonna be a lot better for function).
That chain bracket really needs to come out the top side of the bottom beam! Probably won't need to change anything up top, just fab a new bracket that isn't going to twist your bottom beam in half, swing the chain over and re tension. Buttery smooth episode, gents - thank you!

17’s are better but we almost all end up with 20’s over 40”. At lease you won’t need seat heaters with headers right under your back sides. Make sure it’s a flip up cab seat so you can put and pull burritos of the manifolds 😂

You guys should find a good used high pressure hot parts washer. Mine is a Haden brand transmission washer & you will LOVE IT! Make sure you find one with a oil skimmer. I use mine to wash everything from shop equipment like jacks, stands, oil drain pans ect to super cleaning parts. Add some plugs & you can clean transmission, T cases, engine blocks ect.

for the second floor. use a chair connected to the wall connected to a bolt that passes through the plate for the D ring. spreading the load to the second chair to the wall

Damn guys when the roof was designed for max snow load I don’t think they figured for hanging a loft full of stuff from it? You know everyone always puts three times the stuff up there than you figured you would! If that roof ever comes down be somewhere else!
For your upper support build a duplicate of the one you have and put it on the other side of your piece that sags. Use the same bolts to secure it together. Cut a pocket it your floor. Put bracing to secure the floor, not sure which direction you have the floor boards running. Build two harnesses one to connect to the outside and one to go thru the pocket in the floor. Make sure they are the same length, then connect both to your chain from the rafterr.
