  • Simply modified Sears lawn mower now runs on propane. It's cleaner and puts out less Carbon Monoxide. Here is info that will help you convert your lawn mower.
    Part 1 - inlet, tubing, regulator, tank.
    Part 2 - valve, mount, fittings, mowing performance, future add-ons.
    Constructive comments and questions are welcomed !

    With that haircut and the propane you really remind me of hank hill. Also can't wait to get a torch and get my briggs pressure washer working again. Dam thing will only start when I prime it and won't suck fuel, cleaned carb and replaced a bunch of parts no improvement.... screw it time for propane👍👍

      That's funny ! A kid mentioned that to me a few years ago, and he didn't even know I was into propane. Now, I just embrace the weirdness. LOL !

    Ouch ! I didn't know ethanol was so toxic to mowers. Good luck on your projects. Post a video of your results. :-)

      +auxpowerunit - Thanks! I am thinking bout it, but not yet done it..... I almost passed out last year during a Snow Storm on my Snow Blower due to Gas Fumes.... After an Hour of breathing the fumes..... I was gonna go into the emergency room, LOL. I am extremely allergic to Gas fumes and ultra sensitive with my breathing. So I have been researching converting to " Propane " since it's a lot healthier. That was my main goal and that is where it leads me to your Video! I have learned a lot and THANK YOU for posting it! :)))))))))))

      You're welcome. One interesting thing about running propane is that I had to run the mixture very lean, as compared to gasoline. Propane burns much more efficiently because it is in gas form, while gasoline is still in aerosol droplets. For me, no droplets means no more sinus irritation. Take care !

      +auxpowerunit - Ah ok.... Thankx for the extra info! To be honest, I don't mind paying for the Propane if it's healthier. I'd rather Pay $5.00 extra, than going to the Hospital after each " Snow Blowing "..., that would cost more, LOL! But I believe you on that one, since " Propane " is already a Gas form and no need to " Vapor " before burning.

      BTW, there are adapters which allow you to fill a 1-pound propane bottle from a 20-pound tank. I have one made by Mr.Heater, which works okay. Just saw a better one on Amazon called GasSaf.

    Thanks, the only part that mattered was how you routed the 1/8" inch hose into the propane and you didn't show it. I don't know why, it was a great video up till that.

      He barely shows it at 5:48 all brass parts, ball valve, barbed 1/4" nipple, looks like 3/8's In. threads on the brass
      PS.. I'd bet he removed the hose from the regulator first to see what thread size was required to start off.

    Because the propane delivery tube is open at one end, it could never build up enough pressure to "blow the lines". The only problem you'd encounter with high regulator pressure is injecting too much propane, producing a mixture that is so rich the engine wouldn't run, or would run poorly, producing a lot of soot. The same could happen if the regulator fails, allowing too much propane to come out.

    Hahaha ! Sorry about that ! This was my first production, so I was trying to remember what to say. Meanwhile, I was trying to operate the camera with one hand and demonstrate the mower with the other. I'll get more help next time.

    do you know the regulator psi i want to do this but dont want to get a regulator that is to high and will blow the lines

  • @sgfreak96
    @sgfreak96 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yup! Corn ethanol fuel destroys the carbs! Eats away at everything and gums up really nicely.

  • @auxpowerunit
    @auxpowerunit  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This one is 1/2 PSI. That is the industry standard for low-pressure use.

    A few years back Briggs and Stratton converted all gas tanks and carbs to a one piece plastic design. This really sucks because when you have to buy a new one, you spend 50-60 dollars and for a little more you could buy a whole new mower. And for anyone who is worried about the ethanol issue and doesn't want to do this conversion, sport/rec 90 is available, and it is ethanol free. I run it through all of my equipment. It is not that much more expensive.

      My original video was 1080p resolution. But for some reason, TH-cam compressed it down to 360p, resulting in the degraded picture. It may be to save storage space on old videos. Thanks for watching !
