    I'm impressed with Desiree''s resilience. I get that we don't see it all in the video, but to cross the Atlantic ocean in a sailboat..... is the sign of a lady with moxie. You two rock. Keep on loving one another......

    Great video. I learned in the Army that sleep is as important as beans and bullets. It doesn't take long before you can no longer think and function. You will find your rhythm.

    Every channel I watch talks about how they can’t pick up a camera to show the bad. 9:10. Im Sorry you felt this, very proud of you for being pregnant and still tackling this journey. Also proud of you for sharing the not great side of being a sailor. Well done (hope your on the hard now :))

      Thanks for the list of all members of Jordan and Desiree's sailing crew. They are helpful by their simple presence.
      Who was clever enough to think about expansion of the crew? Your voyage is already a success and it remains such when reaching the final destination.

    I am so happy to see more channels like yours taking on crew. I know it's a bit of a sense of pride for some people to just go with two people, and I do get the provisions and close quarters. But it seems so much safer to have more people doing the watches with you. Your crew is great, and you also did well as well. Congrats. This was tough and it shows, but it helps me understand what I want to do when I do a crossing on my boat someday. Heidi

    You two are amazing in a number of ways, but you truly are excellent storytellers. I have a little idea of what it takes to make an engaging video and you two have become masters.
    Watching this series of your Atlantic crossing, including much of the prep over the last year, I find myself super envious of not only your situation and the incredible adventures you are having, but also your talents and capacities. All good things to you, and I’m very excited for your new addition.

  • @mfournier12
    @mfournier12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don’t know didn’t seem like anything that bad at all to seems exactly what I would expect to deal with on that passage. And sure beats facing the doldrums and motoring for days. After all your on a sail boat Wind is a good thing. And this is what you signed up for. YOUR sailing if your a sailor your supposed to LOVE exactly what your doing. BUT it’s tough to sometimes to stay positive when. It actually gets rough. It’s the trip not the destination that your supposed to be out there for. Yes big seas can be uncomfortable and if you get seasick easily well... meds can help BUT if after a few days your body does not adjust long distance sailing may not be for you. Big props to Des. Pregnancy alone can bring on sickness so going through this along with being seasick! Can’t say I can relate having never had to deal with that personally) but I am sympathetic. Jen!!! Now that’s the attitude. I have to say Your candid interviews have helped me and my wife’s relationship as we have had some of the same situations and how I deal with it vs her is night and day. I love it when we have two reefs in the main and the toe rail is in the waves. And beating windward but I can get short when I need to get something done and it’s outside my wife’s comfort zone and I will snap at her something like “NEVER MIND ILL JUST DO IT MYSELF” forgetting she is doing the best she can and what we are doing is outside her comfort level. Des has helped give me perspective and helped me be more understanding that if I want help I have to remain calm and helpful ESPECIALLY when the situation is urgent as it’s how I am reacting to the situation will set her up to succeed or to shut down. If I’m calm it reduces her anxiety if I bark out instructions expecting her to react as I would it will have the opposite effect. Hope you guys look back at the passage as a overall positive experience. As I’m sure you will make it through fine. As I know your boat can deal with a lot more then The weather your showing in this video.

    40 %. No matter what you're up against. When that point comes where you feel like you can't take anymore... you're only at about 40% of what you can truly handle. So yeah. Keep pushing through, you'll be amazed at what you can handle after every time you persevere. The benchmark just keeps moving up, and your capacity just gets greater. You two have been Killin' it from the get go, and the payoff shows. :)

    21:28 I agree totally, it's a sailboat, sailing in light winds preferable to that loud sickening motor running. Sailing the entire passage from Key West to the Azores even on light wind days. Swimming in glassy seas doing 4 knots in the gulf stream was fantastic. We had one stretch of light winds with the cruising spinnaker up for three days straight.

    Whilst in the Royal Air Force I sailed the English Channel in a force 5 and we needed to put a smaller sail up front. I volunteered,,,,,. What an experience ,up down with the waves breaking right over you changing the sails. Exhausting but a memory I have never forgotten. I knew I was alive, living the dream I don’t know but never forgotten. The Airforce had Nicholson 55’s then, few ropes back to the cockpit, no mod cons like today but great fun.

    We also sail a Pacific Seacraft, and we also have a brand new Precision mainsail. Sailed from San Diego to Hawaii in June and had the same thing happen. The reefing lines chafed. When we got to Hawaii, we saw that the reefing grommets had rough edges. Precision took care of the problem immediately and at no cost to us. But it's scary to see your lines chafing in high seas and winds!

    I'm reliving my days as a Navy sailor thru you guys! Granted, the ship was much bigger as well as the crew. However, the Atlantic as I have been told is a pond compared to the Pacific. Never the less, the open sea can and always will be a formidable foe. Chins up buds....YOU GOT THIS!!!

    Oh Boy! To deal with sea sickness like you for several days is just grueling I am so sorry, You are Amazing. May the boat & the oceans take good care of you. Continue to have the time of your life.

    Great episode. Your explanation of the feelings one has on a passage is spot on. Having trust in the boat is a helpful key . Upbeat crew morale ....cool salty dog. Screw the weather you guys have what it takes. I have been there as well. Cheers !

    Well done everyone 👍. What a great bunch of people and Ozo. Loved the Tainted Love rendition, still a terrific song. To do this at any time is a feat, but pregnant too... You're a champion mate. Stay safe guys, and thankyou for another enjoyable and beautiful episode.
