For those who do not know and MIGHT care, the line "the rabbit done died." Back when this song was made there were no home pregnancy kits. The test for pregnancy was to inject a rabbit with fluid from the woman. If the woman was pregnant this injection would actually kill the rabbit.
You do what you want, Nick! And y'all go down the rabbit hole that is Aerosmith! Boston turned out some of the most talented, commercially successful and important in my life soundtrack bands ever! I probably quote a line from this song once/week.
I’ve lived in Western Kentucky for64 years, have gone to Louisville a lot to go to Churchill Downs or to a concert. Great town. I love you guys and what y’all do. Thank you.
Steven Tyler is nicknamed the "Demon of Screamin" due to his high screams. The scream is mostly remembered in Dream On (obviously) but also Janie's Got A Gun and I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.
Aerosmith is an American treasure. I was delighted to discover that “No More No More “ is Steven Tyler’s favorite Aerosmith song. The entire album is straight up fire. Slap on the headphones and drop the needle…
And my favorite song, “You See Me Crying”, is Steven’s daughter’s, Liv’s, favorite song. When I met the band backstage in Vegas in 2003 Steven and I talked about it and I told him they should do it live with an orchestra. Not too long after that they added it to their set. I.m not saying I was the reason but it’s cool to think so 😊
Growing up in the 80s I heard all the classic rock, but in my teenage years I started paying attention to songs. This was one thatvI was like, whoa this is cool
When I saw Aerosmith in like ' 87....they opened with this bass intro...for like 5 minutes...with just fog lingering ominously on the stage....and when the drum crash happened...a black curtain fell....and the band appeared, and Steven Tyler , was singing in a headstand on his piano....AWESOME INTRO!!!!!!
An absolute banger. it's old but it never gets old. Walk This Way is the other all-time classic song from the album. Toys in the Attic and Uncle Salty, off the same album Toys In the Attic, are also superb. Big ten Inch record is fun and lyrically saucy.
The harmonics between the octaves of the bass line (a trick the Beatles used in Come together, and Zeppelin in Ramble on ) creates that drone, a basic canvas for guitar play over top. A perfect jam song.
Aerosmith was my first love as far as rock groups, their album "Toys in the Attic" was my first album in Jr. High School. Another good song by them that you seldom here is "You See Me Cryin'" which is one of my favorites.
This song is one of very few ever to hit the Billboard hot 100 charts in separate decades....20 years apart. I first heard this from my older sister's record collection. I was 9 years old back in '76. I remember it in Waynes World too. Tom Hamilton bass player extraordinaire. Joe Perry on the talk box .....Steven Tyler with the sound effects (that dude always has some) you get Brad Whitford throwing down the harmony and of course Joey Kramer with a killer drum line intro going absolutely badass into the bridge.
The greatest percussion instrument ever used is on the title track of Warren Zevon's "Bad Luck Streak in Dancin' School". As the string section transitions into the electric guitar intro, there are two distinctive, rhythmic "whacks" that are supposed to mimic the sound of a choreographer's hand claps. The sounds were made by Dr. Hunter S. Thompson firing a .38 into a trash can full of rocks. Pure genius.
Its a golden throat machine, Peter Frampton , Joe walsh , all have used it! Its a hooked to the microphone. And guitar. My brother Larry used it when he was in a band ( vibrated a tooth loose) lol. My brother also witnessed a fight between Tyler and Perry at one one of the Aerosmith concerts back in the 76 in Indianapolis. Guess it was pretty bad. Knocked over the drum kit he said. Smh
Sweet Emotion is featured in the cop comedy “ Starkey and Hutch” from (2004) starring real life bff’s Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson. Based on the cop drama by same name “Starkey & Hutch” from 1975. Sweet Emotion is played during the ending credits. It’s not ha ha funny. It’s more of a drama, with humor. Directed by Todd Phillips who also directed “Old School”
Wanted to take my son to his first concert, late 90's or early 2000's. I picked Aerosmith being it was hard rock. It was amazing-they were incredible. Also had read the book "Walk this Way"- shocking. Cannot believe they lived through the drugs.
I went to rehab in So Cal in 1996 to get off cocaine, these guys had a private wing the 1st week I was in… I saw them several times in the late 70’s, they were just wasted beyond belief every show. Sobriety made them a much better band. 👍
I saw them on Done with Mirrors tour and they were supposed to be clean and Steven was so high he could barely walk or sing. Very disappointing. I did see them again and it was much better that time.
@@scottlaughlin9897 lol, sorry. He is in his mid 30's now. He loved it. It did not make him a Aerosmith fan. He was into Disturbed, Linkin Park ect but he thought it was great.
Hey guys, great channel. But I wanted to send some love to KY. I live in Mexico, and even here we're seeing scenes from the flooding. Stay safe. Peace out.
Toys in the Attic is in my opinion, their best album. The entire thing is great, listen to the whole record. Excellent songwriting from a Classic American band.
Great review! One finer detail you missed is the bass marimba which is like an exylphone. It’s starts on the verse about her shaking her ass. Very cool. I also heard Tyler mention the sugar packets. Not sure I believe him though. He likes to tell tall tales.
Unfortunately, their Las Vegas residency is on hold pending Steve’s sobriety. We wish Steve a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them continue to be a part of our Las Vegas community again.
Guys, don't apologize for pausing and commenting. Ppl who are here already know the song. They're not here to listen to the song, we're here for your reaction/commentary. So, I'm a nutshell, to those who complain about pausing...GFY!!!!
This whole album is fantastic. It shows their range and diversity. Take a listen to the title track and Uncle Salty (actually, listen to the whole album) and you'll see it is top shelf. 🔥
"Adam's Apple" and "Uncle Salty" are 2 great songs from the album you'd love if you already haven't! The album, asking with "Rocks", which followed "Toys.." were what Aerosmith were truly about... great, often raw and nasty straight up rock! Also... try " Nobody's Fault"!
Wow that's cool about the instrument break. Never caught that. (Like falling on the piano in Roxanne). 😂 Patrick eating grandma's cookies... Heard this for years, better again in headphones!!! Ryan was in the zone during the breakdown (at the end). They play this at a lot of Sporting events (ie, Bears Games). Always loved Aerosmith! Steven Tyler on "Two and a Half Men" - such funny episodes! So fun! ❤
Watch the movie Dazed and Confused, it's about the mid 1970s and Matthew McConaughey's first film. It's an honest look at how we were in high school having freedom!
Hey guys listen to more Mr. Smooth Al Stewart Midnight Rocks, Soho Needless To Say, Broadway Hotel, Midas Shadow. Also listen to the songs Rise 7 min version and Making Love In the Rain by Herb Alpert. Seed Of A Memory and To Be Treated Rite by Terry Reid. Beautiful music.
70s Aerosmith at their best with Joe Perry’s signature outro guitar work. It just doesn’t get any better than this as far as Aerosmith goes. C’mon bring on Love in An Elevator and tell me how it’s better, there’s just no way…. That metric of comparison does not exist.
Hey guys I noticed you have never done a reaction to Liliac at all and they totally rock. 5 brother an sisters band, they do covers and have there own music also. Please start with there cover of Enter Sandman, everybody does it, but they slay it dudes, 4 real. Shout out from the 606!!
Gentleman, I believe you would dig "Fly At Night" by Chilliwack. Some more great Canadian classic rock that you unfortunately may have missed. Hope you guys are staying cool and are staying well hydrated. 😉
The word "underrated" is used too iften on RVCs, and usually incorrectly. I dont think Aerosmith is underrated by pure classic rock-ers, but their name doesn’t come up much today when talking about all-time great R&R bands. Aerosmith is a great band. Especially their 70's material. A lot of good songs. And Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way are two of the most iconic rock sings in history.
You need to react to Queens performance at Live aid, at Wembley 1985. Considered as the best live rock performance. Can't believe you haven't reacted to it. Most reactors have.

Highly suggest (same album) 1) Toys in the Attic 2) Adams Apple The entire album stellar from start to finish 🔥 🔥 BTW I am from Boston and have seen all members around town and was blessed to have seen a few suprise club shows
The single version actually cuts the whole intro and adds the repeated chorus at the end till it fades out. It also eliminates the rockin ending which sucks.
As a kid I always hated the outro because the drums were in straight 4, unlike the cool syncopation of the main part of the song. I have always loved syncopation, or as I called it, "stop/start rhythm".
Waking up and realizing you don't have to go to work and you can sleep in...sweet emotion. :)
One of my all time favorite songs. It's perfection. Aerosmith is just iconic w/an incredible number of great, great songs.
Sweet emotion was ahead of its time.
I was 15. Everyone had Toys in the Attic on 8 track. 😁❤️
My favorite line out of any song " you can't catch me cause the rabbit done died
'
This song brings up my middle school days! Great music in the 70’s that I don’t think will ever be replicated unfortunately.
For those who do not know and MIGHT care, the line "the rabbit done died." Back when this song was made there were no home pregnancy kits. The test for pregnancy was to inject a rabbit with fluid from the woman. If the woman was pregnant this injection would actually kill the rabbit.

always loved this song - but since the movie, whenever I hear this song I see the intro of "Dazed and Confused" :)
What a movie it is aswell

The bass line was a finger exercise Tom Hamilton used to warm up before shows. Steven Tyler wanted to use it on this song because he loved the groove.
