The registry actually lives in a couple files in your profile folder. You could probably break a lot more by swapping those instead since your method only added the win7 ones to what was there. It wasn't a true swap.

Nice video. A suggestion: Run a newer x64 version of Notepad++, OR your machine/VM doesn't have enough RAM allocated to it. I load up MCNP output files that become much larger than your entire registry in Notepad++ routinely, works well with 16GB+ ram (32GB works very well).
Thanks! About Notepad++, I was running the latest version but I guess it was my ram, I only have 8 gb and my Windows 7 vm with 4 gb of ram was running, so the ram usage was 81%. At least my page file is saving me so I can do my stuff 😅 I'm planning to upgrade to 16 GB soon!
One problem I see is that some registry keys need Trusted Installer permission to replace them. And some might even be protected by kernel. So by importing registry like that you create broken state where some keys are replaced and some that are protected will still have their original values. This is mixing of registries, not swapping. It would be interesting to see you boot with linux live cd and swap the registry files instead. This way since windows is not currently running you get complete replacement together with complete removal of old keys.
