Well, I've never built a whole track in one sitting, so I can't say for sure how long it takes. I guess if I did do it all at once it'd probably take me about a day. I draw out my track plan on exercise mats used for my track surface, then tape it off and spraypaint the grass. The walls are weather stripping from home depot/lowe's, which has a sticky side like tape. The grandstands are just styrofoam bricks cut diagonally, and the scoring booths are foam attached with toothpicks.
My college runs on a quarter system, and we're about to go into finals week, so I'll be getting started on shooting soon. As for a video with the tracks in it, you can check out my season promo.
I used to love to do this with my collection of cars. I didn't film it or anything, I would just run my own version of the race on the same day as the real thing
The base is exercise mats from the fitness section at Walmart. They come in packs of 6 2x2 squares that interlock. The walls are made from weather stripping, which can be found at Home Depot/Lowe's. Weather stripping is flexible and has a sticky bottom like tape. The grandstands are made from bricks of floral foam from Hobby Lobby, and the scoring/media booths are styrofoam, also from Hobby Lobby. Anything styrofoam/floral foam is covered in a layer of painter's tape for a smoother surface.
I started shooting this week, and I managed to get 5 laps out of 20 done in 2 days. If things go my way I could have shooting done in no more than 2 weeks, then maybe add a week for editing. I know you guys have been waiting for race 3, so I'm trying to get as much done as soon as I can.
This track may have to be remade, the renovations at this track are massive, the grandstands have been moved along with the start finish line. The PIT lane has also being moved father. The start finish line will be by the dog leg. Look up the renovations.
Those I made in Microsoft paint. I've discovered if you want to do something similar for the current cars, you can go to NASCAR.com's live timing and scoring page during a race, and copy and paste the pictures of the cars from there.
I painted them with one of those foam wedge brushes. Not sure if that's what they're called, so here's a picture of one: www.tapplastics.com/uploads/products/Foam_Brushes-xl.jpg I painted the sides while the roll was still curled up, then painted the top once it was laid down on the track.
***** That's interesting, not too many people are fans of the winged Car Of Tomorrow. When they first came out I didn't like them, but they grew on me. That said, I really like what they've done with the current Gen-6 cars.
Haha Yea no I prefer the winged cars they look much nicer then they '14 cars of today but thanks for the help and upload more races I think they r awesome!
You can find most of the materials at a craft supply store like Hobby Lobby. The mats I use for a base you can get in the fitness section at Walmart, or even Home Depot or Lowe's, though I forgot what section. I cover where you can get most of the stuff in my how to build a track video.
FrogReviews and Stopmotions That was a great race. Letting Michael Buffer give the "start your engines" call was a great idea. Normally I'm not a fan of straying too far from the traditional call, but "LLLLLLLLLET'S GET READY TO RUMBULLLLLLL!" was perfect. Still gives me goosebumps.
Ya awesome job man! This is so far the best stop motion league I've seen. I love how you have the actual people giving the command and everything lol.

i think your tracks are so cool theres always alot of detail and they actually resemble the real track like alot.
Thank you. Yeah, I spend a lot of time looking at google earth when making these tracks.

Hello buddy, your stop-motion videos are awesome. Keep it up the good work!
how'd you make the track
iMovie to animate the frames, then Sony Vegas to edit everything else.
A combination of the internet and souvenir trailers at NASCAR races.
Actually Phoenix is one of four NASCAR events measured in kilometers. The real life race is 312 laps which rounds out to about 502 kilometers.
It's cool how you did the road courses inside these tracks.
You make awesome races!!!!!!
The leaders made it to the line before him. He didn't go 3-wide until they had crossed the line, so it was legal.
love the videos
good job go tony thank you for making tony in top five!
Yes, I build my own tracks
Thanks so much man! I'm thinking about making a Phoenix 👍
Dude can you give me a link up to get my own my collection but anyway great race and congratulations to Denny Hamlin on his victory.
AWESOME TRACK !!!!!!
Welcome to the weird part of youtube.
How I make my tracks first get a cardboard box flat it put tape on then add grass or if roadcouse do the bumps there you go :)
Loud Balloon I use markers to for the grass and the bumps on the roadcourse
@@jolly4136 the bumps are known as curbs

Hey Sean I was wondering how you got the walls blue for Phoenix since the don't make blue weather stripping?
I painted them with one of those foam wedge brushes. Not sure if that's what they're called, so here's a picture of one: www.tapplastics.com/uploads/products/Foam_Brushes-xl.jpg
