      I also have a oculus rift, but the problem when playing in vr is identifying other aircraft because they become more like a pixel, you see them earlyer tho. You also need to keep in mind that you really need that gtx1080 at least to run it smoothly, i have a 1070 and it runs but not that smoothly and at minimum settings.
      I really recomend head treaking tho because it makes the game soo much better

      @@Warkip There's a separate control for VR zoom in bindable controls. Its not a perfect fix but it does let you zoom in to better see stuff you definitely would never see with the base FOV of VR.

    • @airsheep
      @airsheep 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Warkip There is a vr mod that lets you use 5x and 10x zoom in VR (3dmigoto mod). With that mod it is much easier to identify a plane from greater distance. I use a HP Reverb with 4k resolution and 10x zoom gives a lot of help to spot others.

    • @MaverickSu-35
      @MaverickSu-35 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly, and now THEY, the realistic simulator creators have become the creators of IL-2 Battle of Moscow, Stalingrad, etc..., NOT these impostors who only modified the original IL-2 into this crap (can't call it otherwise in terms of simulation), done a lot of commercial, attracted a lot of newcomers to aviation knowledge and made a fortune. I'm not sad that they made a fortune, I'm sad that they call this... SIMULATOR. It doesn't simulate ANYTHING correctly, not even actual distances, lol...! If you want to see how actually an aircraft behaves in the air at whatever angle of attack, try either of 777 Studios genres (IL-2 BoX or Rise of Flight), X-Plane 11 (done by true aerospace engineers) and DCS (not all, but about 50% of the modules simulate the aerodynamics correctly).

    • @paulsaunders6536

      My grandpa bought me the latter one, I remember playing IL2 1946 on an (now old) laptop from 2002-3 playing on low settings (not a gaming laptop lol those didn't really exist) and without a joystick. Still had a lot of fun even though I never really knew what I was doing.

      @dabney offermein
      Hi!
      Of course.
      I'll list those with wrong FM (some more wrong, some less wrong, but still with unrealistic performances and behavior), while the rest are to be considered pretty much correctly flying/behaving:
      #1. MIG-21 from LLC. Has nothing to do in any way with the real plane's performances and behavior
      #2. Christen Eagle, also from LLC
      #3. All FC3 aircraft (yes, they are all having easily recognizable FM issues, the less wrong being the Su-25 and A-10)
      #4. F-14 from Heatblur
      #5. F-18 from ED
      #6. M-2000 RAZBAM
      #7. Mig-19 also from RAZBAM
      #8. SA 342 from Polychop (polycrap simulations)
      #9. A-10C I and II from ED (sharing the same abnormal roll control authority under stall conditions just like the A-10A in FC3, same flight model copy-pasted)
      #10. Su-25T from ED (similar to A-10s over stall AoA abnormal roll control authority)
      #11. L-39 from ED (similar to A-10s / Su-25s over stall AoA abnormal roll control authority)
      #12. Mirage F-1 (although new, basic aerodynamic effects should've been correctly simulated before release)
      #13. C-101 (both variants have utterly unrealistic FM)
      #14. All Belsimtek fighter planes (F-5, F-86, MIG-15). Not too bad FMs, but still with some corrections and wrong effects which need attention are just left to die. I don't think they care anymore as most do after years pass.
      These are the ones with problems and will most certainly die like that cause the FM is like the most unwanted part to be revised by the developers.
      All of the prop planes (except the Christen Eagle) and all helos (except the Gazelle) and the rest of unmentioned aircraft are behaving and performing realistic for their flight models to honestly be called accurate.
      The most exceptional FMs are those for the JF-17 and AJS-37 (for the jetfighters category), followed by the F-16 (some corrections needed at high AoA and beta for lift differential between the wings, but that's not very important unless you wanna try some tailside aerobatics and see that instead of a right roll you get a left roll or vice-versa) and finally the AV-8 which except some high AoA + beta (sideslip angle) glitches above some 400km/h (220kts) which make the plane have some very erratic movement, also has a very well done FM.
      Regards!

    I have been playing IL-2 BOS for about a year now. Mostly just setting up random scenarios of me versus AI enemies. Configuring my flight stick and throttle controls was a PITA at first. As more of a "casual" player, I was thrilled when I figured out how to take off and land safely (most of the time...) I am now working on trying to take off with the "normal" settings instead of the "custom." Just getting off the runway and maintaining level flight is far more difficult now....

    I bought this game, with it's expansions/etc over 10 years ago. It was ok, I couldn't really appreciate it due to few players at that time and little knowledge base. There was only 2 servers active and they were in expert mode. I stuck with campaign and sadly got tired of it. Glad to see it has had a sort of resurgence for such an old game. It introduced me to some Russian aircraft that that had decent performance but in War Thunder, were "nerfed", performance was diluted or the sake advancement or research tree.

    Great video JoyPlanes. I greatly like IL-2 as I’ve been playing it for a long, long time. There’s a lot to like in IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad; I’m greatly excited about their new IL-2 Battle of Normandy, and have Pre-ordered it. I greatly enjoy the Pilot Career, Campaigns, missions, dogfighting, bombing, ground attacks. The maps are virtually spot on.
    The only things I don’t really like are
    1. Total lack of radio comms and commands
    2. Cockpits are too much of an arcade: you can’t click anything, nor can you hover the mouse over a gauge and it tells you information. CFS3, Microsoft FS, and X-Plane had/have this feature. More people look at the info box for airspeed and altitude than at their instruments.
    The IL-2 series, 1946, Cliffs of Dover and Stalingrad (now known as Great Battles) is probably the best Combat flight sim series Ever. I really hope that the latter 2 can have a long life span.
    The one thing I wish is that after Normandy they can go back to the Eastern front and add a few Russian bombers like the IL-4, Tu-2S, etc.

    I still haven't taken the plunge & bought IL-2 BoS. I read up on it just recently where modders have tweaked the damage model to where the wing doesn't get blown off so easily. The wing rarely came off in real life from gunfire. Hopefully this will be incorporated soon on the version Steam offers. Then I'll just wait for a sale price to come along. In the mean time, in bought Steam's IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 latest version for $9.99, replacing my old disc version. It's been modded somewhat too over the years. It ain't bad, but not as nice as the next generation, such as BoS visually. I find I'm used to the IL-2 series of controls since I've played them so long. I didn't care for Rise of Flight's controls nor DCS's. War Thunder has pretty visuals but I'm not going to mess with a keyboard airplane control. Once I do get BoS, I can get my WW1 aircraft from them, no need for Rise of Flight.

    Has IL-2 gotten a massive UI facelift recently, or is this a sequel of the game with the same name? The menus and whatnot of my copy of the game looks nothing like this :/ .

    • @tayterlik
      @tayterlik 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sequel is a big word, but something like that. It's just the old sim, I mean "IL-2 Sturmovik / Forgotten Battles / 1946" has much more to offer: thousands of campaigns to download, theatres of war, nationalities to fly for. Here we have limited set of maps, limited set of planes: take it or beat it. Obviously, in IL-2 BoX you get modern game engine and way more advanced graphics, plane models and so on.
      But I still do have on my HD IL-2 1946. I just love to fly something like a Gloster Gladiator and defend Finnland.

    The realism of War Thunder is adjustable by the user. In arcade battles, flying with a mouse, using third person view, it is extremely simplified and is definitely just an arcade game with good graphics. In realistic battles, the flight model becomes more realistic. Less of the controls are automated, the gyroscopic effect of engine torque alters the flight path, etc. In simulation battles, War Thunder is surprisingly comparable to DCS or IL-2. The majority of players use arcade battles and play casually, so that’s what War Thunder is known for, but it’s a very competent simulator if you want to use it that way.

    I have been playing War Thunder for almost a couple of years now and yes its free to download but it is not free it costs to go thru the upgrades of each vehicle. I also want to give IL2 a try because I enjoy the challenge. I think anyone that has PC or plays online games realize that each game has its pros cons and costs depending on how many vehicles what level the players are willing to go. Some people may see a video of either game and say I want that plane or Jet and have to realize the hours money skill invested to get to that level. Only one way to decide if the game is to your liking. Good luck

    If you not want to spend so much money you can by the old Il -2 Sturmovik series. Il-2 1946 is the complete version of all old Il-2 Series games, and you can fly at western and eastern Europe, at Northafrika, China and the Pacific. The grafics are not up to date. It is a game from 2006, and the base version is from 2001, but there are a lot of great free mods to make it look better. It will not look as good as the new games, but you only have pay 10 Euros at steam for it and you get all WW2 scenarios and many planes from all countries, who fought in WW2.

      School is great to be a good employee, good citizen that pays taxes and agree with politicians, and to feel as part of a society. Higher education is good if you want to learn a bit more, find a good job (maybe), have a paper that certifies you spent some years studding a specific matter and spent a lot of money doing it. It depends on what you want to do, even scientist today say things that are not entirely true, together with many that are true, but because the credit they have, and the lack of knowledge of normal people like us, we accept everything they say as true.
