- In this video, we went out to re-visit Charles Leadbetter and his team at Eastern Farms. Tom chats to Charles about his new machine, the John Deere X9 combine, which has replaced his two previous New Holland and Claas machines. He updates us on how the season is going for him as a contract farmer and his future plans for the business! We also get a good insight to the rest of the harvest operations.

Wow Amazing kit the biggest I’ve seen is wrights agriculture I have harvested with them and they use s790i 4 of them combines with macdon 40ft heads

My da and my uncle bought a new John Deere combine (I can't remember what model it was) for their own use and contracting, it had only about 150 hrs on the clock when the engine literally exploded, it went off with such a bang half the countryside were on the phone to see what on earth happened. The JD mechanics came with anew engine and changed it in the field where she sat!!

Regarding the weather. Did you not have a very dry 2018 in Ireland? Here in sweden 2017 was very wet, followed by a dry 2018 mid april to mid august. Not a drop of rain and full sunshine all summer.
That 8RX is some machine! Wondering when you get tracks on the smaller 6R's as well :)

They’d have to be aftermarket, there’s no factory tracks for the 6rs

There is no question its been an ideal year. He did say he has a 2nd x9 coming and increasing size a bit so I would imagine that would help a bit?
@@Grassmen Aye no definitely the 2nd X9 will come to hand especially if we start normal time next year with a few showers. Like to see the performance of both working on next year's video. Looking forward to it!
Yeah but Mother Deere is picky and high dollar, like ya heard him say, it'll take a Mother Deere approved "Specialist" to fix it,nice machine still.

No way an X9, even an 1100, can have more output than two old flagships. A 780 and CR10.90 could easily get 120 ton/h which is just not feasible with 1 combine. Not saying the X9 is bad but 2 machines like that are simply better than any one contemporary machine you could match them against

Odd how he said the New Holland Combine was not up to the grain amount of the John Deere..
Because the world record for the most grain collected by any combine in the world in a 24 hour time is the New Holland CR10.90 combine he got rid off?
New Holland are the best Brand by far..
Yeah yiu are right about the record. Still held by New Holland. The 10.90 is some bit of kit. Perhaps John Deere should be having a go at that record?
Fair point but when that record was set before the X9 even existed, and as far as I’m aware there hasn’t even been an attempt on it. Also, assuming the CR is better there’s still other factors as well, like resale value and dealer support. If I recall the record was in wheat, so it could vary by crop.
@@Beyonder8335 That record actually got beat in July 2022 by another New Holland 10.90, though it was the Revelation model instead
