Couldn't get this to work with an actual Wingdings symbol and tried to merge the shapes with all different types of merge. Even tried bringing either one to the front/back. Just turns into the blue block. Tried intersect over and over different ways. No go.

This trick works only for office native icons. For example from flaticons downloaded icons this trick do not work.
