I have used several red velvet cake recipes, and by far, this one has been the best. I baked it for my family for Thanksgiving on yesterday, and they devoured it. I have tried several of your recipes, and I can tell that you put a lot of work into testing them because they always turn out great! Thank you for sharing your craft with us on TH-cam and keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! You're absolutely right, I do test my recipes multiple times so I can be sure of what the possible outcome will be when I hand it over to you guys. I really test my bake goods over and over again. I can't tell you how many cakes have gone in to the trash. Most of my "test" recipes are definitely edible but I have trashed some that I didn't see fit to give away LOL! So glad you all enjoy it :D
I made this cake last night and I'm having my first piece right now. I had to stop after my first bite so I could log on to TH-cam to thank you for this deliciousness!!!! OMG! So moist, flavorful and just perfect! You are a true genius! Thank you for taking the time to perfect your recipes and then sharing them with us. You are a true talent! God bless!
I had an exam and I used this red velvet recipe for it. I just added orange zest to the batter and then topped it off with the frosting and a homemade orange marmalade and candies oranges. I got an a on my exam and my teacher said this was the greatest recipe ever!! Thank you!!
I made this for a gender reveal party and it was absolutely amazing!! Everyone loved it and I even had to bring some home because it was so delicious! Very moist cake and the espresso really brought out the cocoa flavor. Best cake I've ever had!
I made this cake 4 days before thanksgiving and froze it. Thawed it out put the icing on and everyone went crazy over it. Its so moist and has the best flavor
Carolyn! Girlfriend! You did that! Being from the Pacific Northwest, I never had Red Velvet cake until I moved to the South. To be honest though, I really didn't care for it. It wasn't anything spectacular. But girllllll, you have made a believer out of me with this one! This thing is the BIZNESS! I made the Bundt 'cause I HATE working with layers. It was both easy and delicious. Oh, and pretty too. I love you all over again. TFS
I'm very particular about my red velvet cake. Out of all the recipes on TH-cam, this is the only one I use. Perfection every time! No one else can sell me a different recipe. I even used this recipe for my Red Velvet Banana Pudding. Thank you, Carolyn. Miss you, girl!! Hope you're enjoying your new hubby...wait, is he still considered new??? 😂😂😂 Happy Holidays!🌲
I made this red velvet cake a little over a week ago for my nephew's birthday. It's his favorite kind of cake. I searched the internet looking for a recipe and came across this one. Well, it did not disappoint! The cake was so moist and delicious, I made it twice in one week. One for my nephew and another one for me! Thank you for sharing your tried and true recipe with us! Side note: I followed the recipe exactly. I had to buy the espresso, which is a nice touch. Again, thank you
This cake looks delicious! I have been baking red velvet cake for years, I have never thought about adding espresso or sour cream. I will definitely try this recipe this weekend. Thanks for sharing! I love the bundt style red velvet. I make it like that for my mom since she prefers less frosting.
Ok wow. I just made this cake, and my mind is blown. I don't know where to start. Ok, firstly, while I'm no stranger to cooking, this was my very first time using a recipe to bake a cake, and I must say, the recipe was incredibly simple to follow. Even if you don't have some of the ingredients on hand, they are VERY easy to come by or make, (i.e Sour Cream, Brewed Coffee/Espresso, Buttermilk). There are no complicated steps, so even a total beginner to cooking can definitely handle this recipe. Second, y'all she was not lying when she said this cake was moist. The first bite was like heaven. The second the ingredients are done coming together, it's tempting as heck to just eat the batter, it smelled so good. The frosting is also really easy to make. The notes of coffee and the sour cream are definitely present, and make an excellent touch. The classic red velvet/cream cheese frosting combo is definitely highlighted very well as well. My only note was that if your house is on the warmer side, or if you are making the frosting while the cake is in the oven (therefore heating up the kitchen), definitely put the frosting in the fridge before you start your crumb coat, it'll make everything easier to work with. This cake goes especially well with a good ol cup of coffee (I prefer my coffee strong and black), which is perfect since the recipe calls for it. Overall an excellent recipe, and you can tell that a lot of work was put into perfecting it. The cake is also rich and satisfying enough to only want one slice at a time too, so if you're prone to baking goodies and then immediately eating it all by yourself like I am (womp), this is perfect for you. Opting out of the nuts for the topping still results in an excellent cake (though adding them may help balance out the sweetness in the frosting a tad), btw. Thank you so much, Carolyn, and I cannot wait to try your White Cake recipe tomorrow! I will definitely be sharing this recipe with friends and family.
This Is THEE Best Red Velvet Cake Ever!! So flavorful and moist and rich!! omg. my family absolutely Loves it. and my Grandmother has now given me Cake duties for the Holidays😄😄😍 You're Awesome Carolyn
I love watching you and I just purchased your seasoning today. I’ve made 5 red velvet cakes within a week with the sour cream and espresso and feel in love; The first was for Christmas and the rest were by request. Next on my list is your coconut pineapple cake and seafood macaroni. 😍😍
Ms. Carolyn, Bless your heart for the much appreciated work on this recipe! I made this for my daughter's birthday and it was delicious; so moist and flavorful. My family loved it so much, I made 4 cakes in one month!! I followed the directions as written and the results were outstanding! Love your channel!
@CookingWithCarolyn oh my goodness!!!!! thanks for sharing!!! I used your recipe for the holiday... this cake was amazing!!!!! thanks so much carolyn everyone loved it, and was requesting more. Thankfully I purchased more than enough ingredients because I ended up baking more.. This will most certainly be my go to..THANKS AGAIN FOR SHARING..
@@CookingWithCarolyn do you have any cream cheese frosting recipe that can be piped. I was lookong through your videos; but didn't see one. Let me know, thanks
wow.. love your two kick ingredients you added!! A lot of other recipes are very similar (or the same) with each other. Thanks for the new try! Gotta try this recipe later.
Girl...Carolyn....you knocked that out!!!! OM FREAKING G!!!!! I was ready to bite my phone. I definitely will have to try this and add your recipe to my collection. Thanks for the video....Awesome job indeed and as always. ☺ I sure wish I was your neighbor, lol.
My wife made this cake today and it came out fantastic! I don't usually love red velvet cake but this recipe is the best I've ever had. Thanks for sharing.
+CookingWithCarolyn I did just because I didn't want to have leftovers, I should have put more in between the layers, maybe this way I wouldn't have any leftovers. but still great taste.
Hooray! those two ingredients definitely address my issues with red velvet, and I haven't even tried it yet! I can tell it's gonna be a classic. thanks so much.
+brewatch Me too. I learned that there is a fine line between the batter tasting like Play Dough smells or the batters are not sweet leaving all of the sweetness coming from the frosting and since I don't care for a lot of frosting, then what? LOL I wasn't with it so I kept working to achieve what I wanted the cake to taste like.
Going to do both of these because I have tried to make a Bundy cake with another red velvet cake mixture, like you said it was too hard around the edges, so I want to say thank you for this one very much and I am going to use both of these on a friends dinner that I promise to fix for him.wish that you could be here to try it with us and give your opinion on it.love you lady keep throwing out there.

So, I ended up making your red velvet pound cake instead. It was delicious, but dense. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Pyrex meas. cup. I hope that is for liquid and also dry ingreds. as well? idk
Rochelle NaturallyLovinMe 8 flutes? Did you count the domes on the pan? Ok Pound Cakes ARE DENSE. That’s what they are, no doubt about it. You want light and fluffy? Make this cake. 10-12 means the cup capacity not the number of flutes. Did I understand you right!? I feel like I need to get you on the phone Sweetie.
