      Awesome! That’s the best way to do it! If you are up for it you can find a local to you Facebook group for Uber drivers. I’m in one and there is only one other detailer in the group. Could be a good way of getting consistent details since they have to have clean cars and they can deduct detail costs from their taxes! They also get cleaning fees from passengers for pukers/ spills.

    • @MarkSegree
      @MarkSegree 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      He uses power on site via Extention cord from the customers house. He mentions it in text close to end of video. A 50' extension medium duty should be plenty. Buy a good 1.5 litre kettle for hot water, remember it doesn't need to be boiling so you can add that to regular water. Bissel spot clean for carpets and use meguiars d106 for stain removal on newer seat where the material dries super fast and the foam stays wet. Its 3 times the price of the d101 but it takes out the stains using a bit of steam vs saturating with the bissel so you avoid the stains coming back. Dont know the exact name but it's for those seats that feel like nylon, of course it works on all stains but cheaper to use the extractor where you can. Sorry I always over deliver in comments but cant be bothered to delete

      Try and be a bit more aware of where you are spending water. I usually have my buckets filled with water before hand so I am not taking away from the tank. I usually do a light rinse then foam cannon, 2 bucket wash, then rinse. I typically used 5-8 gallons for a sedan and about 12 for a SUV

  • @michaelbyrd5573
    @michaelbyrd5573 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems like you have to fight the water bucket. I too, thought I needed a van but then realized my well water isn't best choice for car washes. Several youtubers roll without water and even a pressure washer ( Wilson Auto Detailing). I still want to carry a small electric pressure washer and if we're using our clients electric, we might as well use their water. Offer them a discount if you feel bad.

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing wrong with that. I have had clients that are shocked when I say I only need the electricity. There has been a few occasions where I have detailed a car in an apartment parking lot where having my own water source was required because I wouldn’t have been able to do the exterior without it. I will say most of the time people are more interested in an interior detail rather than exterior so it isn’t a super common issue to run into

    If owner is willing to let you plug in, he/she will be willing to let you use water as well. (since all you use is city water from garden hose).

      you can use this new spray wax called "formula 4 spray wax" right after rinsing . apply to the whole car when wet and then rinse again and you will have several minutes to dry the car withour leaving any water spots. trust me it works, even when using tap water and it really helps with black cars especially when washing in direct sunlight.

    • @michaelbyrd5573

      There are several ways you can wire it. You can pickup a cigarette outlet adapter and connect it that way or wire it directly to your cars battery with a switch like I did. I believe I have links to the elbow in the description but I cannot recall. I think it is a 5/16 barb to female garden hose connection

      Really depends what I am doing. for the most part I use cheap microfiber bulk packages from Walmart or sams club. I keep a ton of them in the car at all times because you never know. Also I have found that 99% of the time I end up detailing some pretty nasty cars and the cloths I use for the interior may not even be worth trying to wash. I think most of my towels are 10x10 or 12x12. I use better quality towels for exterior and higher end cars.

  • @kenstephensvideos
    @kenstephensvideos 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Chad, after watching the two videos on this sedan detailing topic I seem to have missed something that I hope you can clear up. You've done a great job of providing your water source, but you're using several electric items like the pressure washer, steamer etc. How are you powering those devices on the site?

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Happy to clarify that for you. I chose to use power on site. I tell my customers while we are arranging times for their detail that the only requirement is access to a power outlet. I chose to do this because I don’t want to deal with a gasoline generator (maintenance, extra noise, transporting fuel in my car) The noise aspect is actually a pretty big benefit to not using a generator. I had thought about installing a large DC to AC inverter that I could then use the power from my car to run everything but this was not going to be cost effective. I would likely need to leave my car running for a majority time of the detail which would be an additional fuel expense. I can say that I have NEVER had anyone complain or even question it when I say I need to have access to their power. I can compare this to having any contractor come into your home for some work. Are you going to get mad at them for connecting their saw or lights so they can perform their job to your expectations? When I tell customers that I have my own water they are actually shocked and were under the impression that I would need to use their water as well! Its all about how you pitch it to your client I suppose but again it has never been any trouble! Hope this helps! I wanted a cheap and reliable setup. It would really suck to get to a job and not be able to start your generator ;)

    @omahasho4658 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should do some performance upgrades to your fusion like a tune, methanol injection, intercooler and you can even get a ported manifold and turbo upgrades and to make a fiesta st downpipe to fix it easy you just have to cut the stock downpipe off after the flex pipe closeted to the lower flange and weld another same sized flange while lining it up with the downpipe and it will extend it enough to bolt on

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a tune on it for a while from SSI which made a huge difference in shifting and performance but all those mods get pricey for not the best gains😂 I miss my tune though. I think for the $ it was the best value. I’ve been eyeballing a new intercooler though!

      Hey, one more question. Do you get decent flow to your pressure washer with the 3/8" water pump or would a 1/2" pump and hose be better?

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never had any issues at all. The volume out of the little dc pump is like 1.1gpm and my pressure washer is 1.6gpm max. Never had any trouble and the little pump provides 30psi on its own. 1/2” hose will reduce the pressure most likely that is provided to the pressure washer. Check your pressure washer for the required supply volume and pressure

      I use power on site. I didnt want to mess with having my car running while I was detailing to run the inverters. I also didnt want to deal with having a generator or the extra noise it would produce. I have never had an issue with customers when I tell them the only thing I need is access to power. If you plan to use an inverter you just need to make sure it can support your equipment. The vacuum you use will likely be the hardest piece to run.

      I can wash 2-3 if I am conservative with the water. I would suggest asking a friend or family member if you can fill up at their home. That would be the easiest option. Otherwise you may have to talk to your apartment manager to see if you can use the water there.

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on where you have the tank and how much other gear you plan to carry. Water is about 8lbs per gallon so this 8x26=208lbs. If you have 3 average sized guys sitting in the back of your car you may have between 500-600lbs back there. Of course this is why I tried to have the tank as far back in the trunk as possible but in reality it was never a concern. I am lowered now on 20” wheels and still have never had any trouble. I hope this helps!

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s all 3/8 hose because that is the size of the hose barb on the pump. It is only 1.5gpm which is actually sufficient for my pressure washer. I think the sun joe is rated for 1.7 but I have never had any sort of issue. I was worried about this not being sufficient when I was building my setup but it has never been an issue in the slightest. You may run into issues with the larger gasoline powered pressure washers since they are able to flow more water.

    How do you connect all the hoses from tank to pump to pressure washer sorry I bought same exact setup but am confused

    • @ChadMees
      @ChadMees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need a couple of fittings to get it up and running! You need a female hose fitting to 3/8" hose barb. from there you can use the hose with a hose clamp to the IN side of the pump. for the output you need a 3/8" hose and clamp to go to another fitting that is a 3/8" hose barb to Male hose fitting. this is what you would connect to your pressure washer or any sprayer. Hope this helps!

      Female GHT to 3/8” hose amzn.to/3ukB9dR
      3/8” hose amzn.to/2NCJzfx
      12v pump use hose clamps to connect input and output
      3/8” hose (secured with hose clamp on both ends)
      3/8” hose to male GHT amzn.to/3k3lWc9

I can wash 2-3 vehicles with the 26 gallon tank which in reality I do more interiors than exteriors. I also chose to have it in the trunk so I could easily lift out my bags of gear from the back seat and leave the tank in the car while I drive for Uber. It makes the transition easier.
