Back watching this video again. Sometimes I don’t even have any intentions of making these things but I just enjoy watching you make things. lol. I love that you use things that can be easily obtained by most people. Plus you really remind me of my friend George. He was a big guy who owned a shoe repair shop. I used to sit there for hours during the day while he was working and watch him do his thing. Unfortunately he passed in 2007 from a pulmonary embolism. I think watching your vids brings me back to a more simple time in my life when i used to just enjoy hanging out with friends.
I can watch and rewatch your videos all day and still pick up something new. Thank you for being better and more informative than any professor I have ever learned from.
My 8 year old grandson and I just found your channel. He is obsessed with masks and everything scary. Now I am into it and love your skills!! Now he goes around the house saying "Go Make Stuff". So we are making stuff!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. For this. I've been improvising with a few other items here and there mannequin heads, foam head on pipe etc. because the forms available for purchase are too expensive. This will help save so much time for each sculpt. Kudos and much thanks!!!
Ah, this will help greatly. But i think i will add my face cast to the foam head ( after cutting its face off) and plaster the rest and be able to have a very nice full size bust now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Greetings and salutations from here in the Isle of Man (UK) Found your channel by accident and love it.... I make stuff all the time when I can... And I have to say your VIDS are giving me exciting new directions with materials I already use but never even thought of using em that way.... Thank you so much... Keep on keeping on matey👍🏻
Freaking amazing tutorial Allen!! Thanks so much I've always wanted one of these. Nice to be learning with you again...been a rough month and half for me. Missed watching you live and the group.
Such a GREAT vid ! . This is as good as a fancy ,high dollar version of...well... THIS ! :D Thats whats so cool about your channel , you always show a low tech way around stuff. For starving artists ,BROKE is the mother of all invention.I use this type of bust to do lay-up masks with #3 ,#4 cotton stockinette & latex appliances ,cotton , hair et. This is very helpful post , Thanks !
Thank you. I do aim towards those who are newer in this type of work because resources are scarce, but Im always surprised t how many veterans of making watch my channel.

You mean...I'm not the only one who thinks plaster of paris was sent to us by particularly sadistic demons? *sniffle* I'm not alone? *sob* I'm so happy!
Was wondering what the best way to make a modelling bust would be, the only way I ever thought of would be to have someone make a full negative of your head and shoulders and to cast that out
Loving your videos. I make some basic props for a charity night time 5k. I did a really cheesy animated Lincoln which after a head swap doubles as a Mr Hyde.
Awesome video, I want to make one these however I am a novice with plaster. About how much plaster did you use and what kind of plaster would be best for me? Thanks!!
I’m glad someone hates clown masks as much as I do. My son went through a phase where he wanted to be evil clowns and wanted everything to be an evil clown and I wanted to puke. Clowns are lame.
I have read through the comments and it appears that you are using Ultracal 30 plaster. I have some left over Plaster of Paris that I can use on this for me. But I have to ask, what is the concern with Plaster of Paris?
a wrinkle on a sculpt, becomes a sharp ridge of plaster, that breaks off really easy with POP. so the detail it can hold is limited by the tensile strength of the plaster
I'm having a problem with my plaster wanting to flake off while sanding and yes there were plenty of holes and lines for plaster to hold on to. I keep reapplying, some mixture is thicker, some thinner. Since I don't plan on making many latex masks or even sculpting with clay on it, would it be okay to cover it in an acrylic caulk? I plan on making more EVA foam masks and head pieces with it.
Hi 🙋 I did a similar one, but I ended up with the same problem every time l use it - a broken neck - so I made another one has a thick wire structure.. and it work 😎
"But I think that's not normal," he says, about his insanely wide shoulders I remember having to wear masks made off a bust of this man's head. It was. An experience. And by that I mean eventually they gave up and handed me a half-mask instead. Which still didn't fit.

Very nice. Thank you.👍
Welcome 😊
How much plaster do I need? It's so good for so many things I want to do. Go make stuff ❤
this project takes about 20lbs of plaster
Its really useful stuff!
i need to make one soon
Do it! So many possibilities!
Awesome video, I want to make one these however I am a novice with plaster. About how much plaster did you use and what kind of plaster would be best for me? Thanks!!
Id have at least 5olb bag to use. I suggest ultracal 30 as the plaster type

I have read through the comments and it appears that you are using Ultracal 30 plaster. I have some left over Plaster of Paris that I can use on this for me. But I have to ask, what is the concern with Plaster of Paris?
its just not strong enough for mold making- it should be fine for this application.
Interesting, I've used Plaster of Paris to make DIY Atlas Stones (185 and 230 pounds) without an issue.

Is there a particular brand of plaster that you prefer for making the bust?
I like ultracal 30- but for the bust anything is fine really.
Yeah, that styrofoam head has a long neck like me. Giraffe neck. Lol
I am one of the neckless!
Hi 🙋
I did a similar one, but I ended up with the same problem every time l use it - a broken neck - so I made another one has a thick wire structure.. and it work 😎
Great tip!
How would I scult clay and make a mask out of it?
th-cam.com/video/2KOR5CvsAwI/w-d-xo.html
how much does the completed form weigh? (Ballpark)
I'm having to order plaster and want to make sure I have enough.
10-15lbs
@@StiltbeastStudios Thanks!

Coool!
Boris says thanks!
What material did you use
I think I recall this being hydrocal plaster
This is the way.
there is a phase in making halloween stuff where you really need one of these, and no one shows you how to make one from scratch.
@@StiltbeastStudios I'm going to need a bigger garage.
Is this wall plaster
no, this is either- us no 1 pottery plaster- ultracal 30- hydrocal- or as a last resort, plaster of paris.
EM DA VE SLUZAT KAKO TLEBA = OTI OCIGJEDNO NE GO E TAKA!!!
Is that hydrocal plaster?
I think I used US pottery plaster #1 for this, but it does not really matter as long as its one of the three main plasters.
look like deadpool 10:00
Kinda does, yeah.
Is this a plaster I can buy at local hardware store?. Sorry if you civered that. I just caught -dont use plaster of paris.
for this...you could use plaster of paris- but not for a mold.
I got it, But I am Ravenclaw :(
exactly what a hufflepuff would say.

First =)
...but alas something is wrong
what do you mean?
