    A few years back I moved my handlebar bag to the top of my front rack. It lowers the center of gravity and more important improves control by taking weight of the handlebars. I also moved my front light and bike computer to the top of the handlebar bag. Small dry bags make a handy washing machine.

      Great points!
      :)
      Have tried front racks previously but wanted to try to avoid it on this bike as I was very much trying to keep the weight down.

    Hey Wombat :-) ,thanks fot your videos! I have followed them with great interest.I use an almost identical bag set up.I modified the OR Handlebar Bag.Now I use the classic Quick Fix holder from Ortlieb.I sawed off the bracket on the bag,leaving the base plate with the 4 screws.Drill suitable holes for an adapter plate,the adapter is available separately for baskets, for example.Screwed down,done.It works great,doesn't wobble, easy to use.I'm looking forward to more videos,best regards and always have a safe trip !

      That sounds like a great tip, will have to look into doing that mod myself!

    Really enjoying your videos and getting inspired. What date did you start from Portugal?

      I started in the middle of February. Maybe a little bit early, I would recommend a slightly later start!

    Great video. 3 questions. 1. What sling bag are you using, looked very usefull. 2 What topeak toolkit version do you use? 3. What pump do you have in the bigger tool bag? Thanks again for a great video.

    • @wombat.vision
      @wombat.vision  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI John!
      The sling bag is a cheap, light-weight bag sold by Decathlon. It is similar to the small, light-weight backpacks that they and other sell for travel. I was worried about how durable it would be at first, but it has proven to work really well and is both cheap and light.
      The tool kit is the Top Peak Ratchet Rocket Light and is excellent. I find myself using it all the time, even at home when I have access to other tools. It is not the lightest, but having been a mechanic previously, I really like having "proper" tools to work with.
      The pump is a Lezyne Micro Floor pump that I have had for ages and that works well, but it is a little bit large and for my next trip I will looking at replacing it with something a bit (or a lot) smaller.
      Hope this helps.

    How do you find the wider drops on the handlebars? Is it easy to reach the brakes when your hands are in the drops?
    I really love the look of this bike: I'm very close to buying one but I am a flat handlebar guy and I am a little wary of drop handlebars and hoods only because the braking and bike control always seems more difficult with these handlebar types, can you give me any advice about your experience with the 920?
    Thanks for another great video!

    • @wombat.vision
      @wombat.vision  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I really like the comfortable position that riding in the hoods gives on longer flat rides but...
      I hate the drops, especially on these bars. I find them more or less useless. I would very much prefer a flat bar with back-sweep for downhill and rough sections.
      That said, there are other dropbars that are better but I am probably going to remain a flat-bar guy.
      But that is one of the only things I would change on this bike, it is really good value in every other way.

    Hi, why did you use Ortlieb front bags instead of the front rack and the (small) panniers?

    •  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really did not need more space and wanted to keep the bike as small and light as possible. I like to go off-road as much as possible and want the setup to be light for when I end up pushing and carrying up and down the rough terrain.

      Great video and review! What mount did you use on the fork for Ortlieb fork-packs? Did you use any adapter for spacing?

    •  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ukaszopaek9159 The fork packs come with their own holder and I was able to use them straight on the fork. Worked really well, recommended!

    Nice set up! What kind of rack is that? It is an special rack for the Riverside 920?

    • @wombat.vision
      @wombat.vision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a special rack made for the Riverside Touring bikes. It mounts on 3 holes in each of the seat stays and is really solid. If anything it is probably overkill for what I was carrying, but as it was mad especially for the frame, was not to expensive and a lot lighter than it looks, I decided to use it.
      Works well!
      I might try to modify it in the future to make it a bit lighter though...
