My first 3 nights in America 2 years ago was spent in Pronvidence. Wish I could've spent more time there but I had to go to Cape Cod for the next 4 nights. Plan to visit Vermont and New Hampshire next year but I would love to revisit Pronvidence the year following. My favourite author; HP Lovecraft brought me to Providence and I took a self guided tour on College Hill and also got to visit Swan Point cemetery and Hope Village! Tried to go for the Fall but was sold out so I made do with the mid September so I was close! Fond memories!😊

Downtown Providence it's the main area and it's marvelous they treat people with respect if you don't like it leave. Lots to do if you got money and nice scenery. Love to live there.

y'all? You aren't from providence then... Lived in providence all my life. It isn't bad. Government makes some stupid decisions and taxes are through the roof but the overall city isn't bad and is actually kind of fun. There are year round events, festivals, etc. City services are WAY above 90% of the country since the city is heavily modernized. And the city is clean. From a 30+ year resident that is saying something. It is basically in the middle between Boston and new york city. It is also a stones throw away from other great places to visit like Cape Cod, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. So finding something to do isn't hard. At the end of the day it is way better and more comfortable then busy places like LA, Chicago, or Miami. The issues involved with those other places don't really find themselves here. Everyone is generally very nice and honest. You don't hear much about it because everyone is generally happy living their daily lives without involving others or any sort of heavy drama. Any bad incidents you incurred here are probably from lack of funds (this isn't a cheap city to live in) or your own decisions and the people you hang out with. If you are not the type to involve your self in crime or drugs or other illicit activities providence is a great place to live. If that is your thing then go to places that are more "accustomed" to it like the previous mentioned cities. What happens to you or others that live there is their own choice. Keep it out of my home town.

I'd say depends on the situation. I think it's not that bad as long as you keep a mask on and social distance from people. But there are a lot of cases there right now and if you go, you may have to quarantine back at your homestate, but there's really no straight forward answer.
Depends what neighborhood you re going too this state is a great melting pot, a lot of people from central and South America and many from Europe. The kids here are no different from kids across the globe.

I have been an exchange student in finlandia university in 2005 from finland. It is a rather homophobic place. Soon after i moved to the dormitory the word fag was carved into the door of the elevator. I got called that quite often there, sometimes even by the "teachers".
