Hey, just letting you know: in the clip starting at 0:13, that’s Newport Beach in Orange County, California - not Newport RI. Newport RI doesn’t have palm trees.
For the history buffs among your viewers, some points of interest, in addition to the many mansions, are the Touro Synagogue National Historic Site (oldest synagogue in the USA), the Redwood Library and Athenaeum (colonial library in its original building), Newport Tower, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Newport Museum of History, and, for food, White Horse Tavern (outstanding upscale restaurant in an historic 1673 building -- "America's Oldest Tavern").
Newport seems like a really quaint town in New England, something I've been wanting to visit on my East Coast bucket list so I'm totally adding Newport to that. I loved learning about US History and New England has that 'old money' vibe that I have read in literature. Wonderful video to show that!!
We live just 40 minutes from Newport and have visited it dozens of times; as recently as last Sunday. One of our favorite spots is Brenton Point State Park. Gorgeous vistas of the ocean and THE best place to fly a kite. Awesome restaurants, too. The Red Parrot is one of the best. Last week we took the ferry from Providence for the very first time after driving to Newport the past 45 years. For seniors it’s just $12 RT; which takes 1 hour. We did see the Umbrella art installation at Brick Alley. And took photos. Very cool. Another GREAT take-in is the Audrain Auto Museum on Bellevue Avenue. It’s small, but impressive. They change their exhibitions every three months! The next one begins this Saturday, Sept. 16. Jay Leno, a huge car enthusiast, himself, has been known to drop in every so often as he purchased, a few years ago, the beautiful Seafair mansion set back on Ocean Drive. At our visit last week one of the employees did tell us Jay IS expected at their Concours event at the end of September!
I’m planning a visit next April to Newport so this is a good overview to help me get started with specifics. Love your style of presenting all of this as well. Thanks for all you do.
Oh my God! What a small world...I was in Newport, Rhode Island a few weeks ago on a day-trip from Boston for the original trip...We went to Breakers Mansion & also ate at the Lobster Shack!! And seeing you re-post it all again here from your point of view on TH-cam feels so amazing! 😃
@YellowProductions Yeah I watch every single video you post...Your Bangkok & Singapore stuff will come in very handy when I go in the Winter in a few months! ~ Loyal Subscriber from Dallas, Texas 😃
I ate at the Newport Lobster Shack when I was in Newport 2 years ago! The lobster was pretty good there. Newport is quite a cool city. I really enjoyed the Cliff Walk during both of my visits there. I agree that the hotels are very expensive there! That's why I've usually stayed up in Massachusetts during my road trips to that part of the US!
Wife and I stay and sail here often. I suggest one of the many bed and breakfasts in the area that way you can walk everywhere. The Mooring is a great restaurant for a couples night out but there is honestly no bad food in Newport. Also plenty of options to get out on the water on the charters. The Oyster Festival is amazing.
Newport is gorgeous is the winter, especially around Christmas time. The mansions are all decorated - it's a great time to go to Newport. I would recommend. Newport never gets super cold in the winter because of the jet stream- unlike more northern areas on New England.
Great video Chris. Some fun fats about Newport :: 1 John and Jacqueline Kennedy got married in Newport in 1953, more than likely @ the Church shown in the video and their reception was at her step father, Hugh Auchincloss' estate 2.Marble House was built for William Kassam and Alva Vanderbilt who was one of Anderson Cooper's ancestors. Their daughter Consuelo was a so called Dollar Princess. A Dollar Princess was a name given young wealthy American women of that era to the 1920s (think Cora Crowley, the Countess of Grantham , Elizabeth McGovern's character on ""Downton Abbey") who married English Aristocrats and in exchange, the doweries of the new Duchesses, Countesses, Viscountesses, Marchionesses and Baronesses were used to repair the family homes , the large country estates of their husbands. Winston Churchill's mother , Jennie Jerome and her sister were $$ princesses and they were also two of the many mistresses of King Charles' great great grandfather, Edward VII as was Queen Camilla's maternal great grandmother, Alice Keppel who wasn't a $$ princess. However, Princes William and Harry's great great grandmother on Diana's side (her paternal great grandmother) was a $ princess
Del's Lemonade is a local tradition here and good stuff, but if you want to have lemonade that will make you lose your mind, try Mr Lemon on Providence's Hawkins Street. It's so smooth there's no bits of that annoying ice in the cup. A variety flavors made by Italians with the machines direct from Italy.
Great breakdown! We ate at Brick Alley when we were in Newport this summer. Fish sandwich and lobster mac and cheese were fantastic. One of the best meals I had all summer. They have some great drink choices too. For a hotel we stayed at Wyndham in Middletown, which was pretty nice.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the great video of Rhode Island. Love that it still has that old school feel to it. Those mansions were very impressive indeed. Take care.
Love Newport!!! Its a great place to visit for a day trip or long weekend... love the downtown and the mansions...from Connecticut and its a easy drive to visit...
Great video, thanks. Fly into Providence [ PVD ] airport, way closer than Boston. The mansion dwellers, some, according to an eye witness ( employee ) have their bed linens washed and pressed everyday, of course. Imagine that.
Hellooo from Gatlinburg TN Smoky Mountains Park... Originally from Portsmouth RI, Next to Newport so this popped up on my feed..Have you been to Gatlinburg? We're the most popular park in usa 🏞️🐻🌄..I do Vlogs Daily here in Gatlinburg too ..Say hi
Newport native here… Funny thing about the UK pronunciation of Thames St. is that I remember my great uncle (and maybe other old-timers) called it “Tems St.” and I thought it was just the old-fashioned name for Thames St.😂 Nice video! Makes me see Newport through new eyes. 😊
Great video. I’ll also point out that Newport is pretty dog friendly. We have lots of places with outdoor seating and most locally own coffee shops are dog friendly. Come visit and bring Fido!
Beautiful scenery the ⛱️🏖️ Beach the mansions and I'll loves to travel 🧳🧳 to Maine Rhode Island New Hampshire and Vermont and Delaware and Massachusett and Philadelphia thanks for showing my friend.
A few other things in Newport worth your time (in my opinion) that are good ANYTIME of year: The Audrain Auto Museum, exhibits change often! Tennis Hall of Fame, if you like tennis. Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, coastal wildlife hike, in between 2nd and 3rd beach. Tip: Book a sail of the harbor in advance.
Thanks for keeping the holiday season a secret for the rest of us haha. Newport really does it up nicely. Sadly thanks to global warming, it doesn't really snow and if it does, it doesn't stick around much anymore.
Great video but just one minor point. TF Green Airport is located in Warwick, not Providence. They are pretty close to each other so it’s not such a big distinction 😂
The mansions look interesting. A bygone era . The tucker (food) looks nice, can't wait to try some clam chowder. I wonder if the west coast chowder is better than the east coast. I'll find out. Thanks again Chris.
The island was named Rhode Island by Roger Williams, who was one of the first English settlers in the area. Williams named the island after the Greek island of Rhodes, which he admired for its religious tolerance.
you forgot the tennis hall of fame!!! also I will never call it marriit ott is ott not it and th is thuh not silent h you said they used the h but you never said thames you said tames !!!
TFG Airport is not in Providence it's in Warwick. They have flights to many different destinations. Please if you're going to talk about my home please get it right. And it's Thames St not Tames.
The police in newport have a splendid reputation for doing whatever they please and letting the courts sort it out. It’s not a place I would describe as a travel destination I have no reason to lie.

Looks very different from City of Newport, Wales 🏴. Or Casnewydd, Cymru

The ferry from Providence sounds like fun!
I've never visited Rhode Island but it really reminds me a lot of my home here in England!
Apparently you are not alone. There is a very large community of expat Brits here.
Technically, Pvd airport is in Warwick. You fly into Warwick. Providence is north of the airport and warwick
Love Newport RI
We stayed at The Chanler at Cliff Walk !!
Rooms so Beautiful
View so Beautiful ❤❤❤
One of my favorite cities
I’m planning a visit next April to Newport so this is a good overview to help me get started with specifics. Love your style of presenting all of this as well. Thanks for all you do.

@@roberthasan6231 thanks so much Robert!
That Newport Marriott is so great. Stayed there many times, but I won’t pay $500 a night. Id rather give that money to a southern destination
I ate at the Newport Lobster Shack when I was in Newport 2 years ago! The lobster was pretty good there. Newport is quite a cool city. I really enjoyed the Cliff Walk during both of my visits there. Oh my goodness I actually enjoyed this video so informative it gave me something to think about far as my next vacation. Thank you so very much Chris.
My pleasure!
Such a great video, Chris! I have always wanted to visit this area! Maybe my mom and I will go sometime relatively soon! So much to see!
Thanks Jeannified!
Bring lots of money !!!

JFK got married about a quarter mile down the street from that church on the video in a church called St Mary's Church.
Love the Cliffwalk in Newport. And highly recommend eating at Diegos... an amazing Mexican restaurant in Newport!
Mmmm!

Hi Chris. Thanks for the great video of Rhode Island. Love that it still has that old school feel to it. Those mansions were very impressive indeed. Take care.
Thanks James! Yes. The Mansions are amazing!
You sure get around! Singapore one week, RI the next. Did you get to Newport Creamery for a Jimmie Roll?
I like bring variety to your TH-cam feed :). But No.. I'll have to add a Jimmie Roll to my list for next time!

I know PVD is closer than BOS -- But no direct flights for us west coasters to PVD. So I'll go direct to Boston rather than risk a connection
It's really weird actually seeing a place being talked about on TH-cam where I go to school, I quite literally see these locations every day 😭💀
Hi hon. You're in my neck of the woods. Enjoy. 😁
Love Newport! .. so many summer wkends. always fun! ... Christmas time is totally different, but still pretty cool.

Thanks for the tip Anthony!
Lots of fun and very informative. After telling us to pronounce the H in Thames you went on to leave it off through the rest of the vid. lol
At least I got it right once 😀
Awesome job chris I love Rhode Island
Thanks Adam!
No problem
You can fly from the west coast to T.F. Green. I fly every summer the west coast to there.
Where might I find that network of museums you mentioned? Thanks for all the tips!
Beautiful scenery the ⛱️🏖️ Beach the mansions and I'll loves to travel 🧳🧳 to Maine Rhode Island New Hampshire and Vermont and Delaware and Massachusett and Philadelphia thanks for showing my friend.
does the ferry run during winter? thanks for this informative video!!
Lovely video. Very helpful re parking etc as we are planning a road trip from the uk and these little things are helpful to know. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
A few other things in Newport worth your time (in my opinion) that are good ANYTIME of year: The Audrain Auto Museum, exhibits change often! Tennis Hall of Fame, if you like tennis. You need to update your info. Greene Airport is in Warwick bit Providence and it's an international Airport not a local one.
Very informative video. Great job!
East Coasting Chris! Pretty cool man. I’m from Maine originally!
Sweet Todd! I make it out to the east coast every once awhile 😀
Thanks for keeping the holiday season a secret for the rest of us haha. Newport really does it up nicely. Sadly thanks to global warming, it doesn't really snow and if it does, it doesn't stick around much anymore.
Thank you for covering New England!
My pleasure Ted!
Great video :) Thanks again
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video.
Very helpful info. Right here now. 👍
Sweet!
Can’t believe I’ve never been there and I live in New England! Hmm this summer?? Sounds good
You got the wrong stock footage bro @0:14 that's Newport Beach CA 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Indeed 😀
nice travel guide for Newport, RI. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Most of my family lives in Providence RI. Need to check out Newport.
Neat
Great info thanks
A little surprised you didn’t mention the Newport Jazz Festival (as it’s one of the biggest in the world…and was Also in August..)
I've certainly heard of the Jazz festival. But never been myself. And so I didn't report since I don't really KNOW it's cool 😎.. well until now 😀
Great video but just one minor point. TF Green Airport is located in Warwick, not Providence. They are pretty close to each other so it’s not such a big distinction 😂
Mate, that first vid wasn't of Newport RI. But Newport Beach CA I gather.
The mansions look interesting. A bygone era . The tucker (food) looks nice, can't wait to try some clam chowder. I wonder if the west coast chowder is better than the east coast. I'll find out. Thanks again Chris.
My pleasure Mark!
I am European and I wish more of the US would look like this, people in the vid included.
Thank you for this!
My pleasure Dennis!
Can I see in a day or do I need an overnight. Coming from Boston, should I rent a car or hire a tour guide?
What's the best month to go there to avoid snow and high humidity????
Probably March or April
Thank you. That was great.
He took the caaaaaaaaa to the haaaaaaaaaaabaaaaaaa to get to the beach lol
That sounds about right 😀
I LIVE IN NYC it took us all day
Beautiful content
Great video!!!
Just an observation - 0:12 - it's probably Newport Beach, CA. There's no palm trees here in Newport, RI 😉
Hah.. yeah. That's definitely Newport Beach California 😀
The island was named Rhode Island by Roger Williams, who was one of the first English settlers in the area. Williams named the island after the Greek island of Rhodes, which he admired for its religious tolerance.
PROPAGANDA
Best night spot is One Pelham East on Thames St.
Oh! I missed Newport.
Bed and Breakfast is a great choice. You can find homes to rent by the week or .month.❤ My Home ❤️
Now you’re in NEWPORT NEWPORT NEWPORRRT.
❤Waaaaaaaaaaw so beautiful ❤
You should really just drink Del's right out the cup. The cup is also a wax cup so you can squeeze it to break it up!
Thanks for the tip! 😀
how do you stay in shape while enjoying all this amazing, but not healthiest, food.
Lots and lots of walking!
What sneakers are you wearing? Brand/model please I need them!
Hoka Bondi 8
@@YellowProductions that’s what I thought but couldn’t be sure, what colorway?
7:24 A large lobster roll for $30?!? That’s like the price that has been rocketed for just one sandwich.
"Everything is good here". This is what the world should be hearing of America. The good side is getting less news than the unholy side.
Goodness me I want a lobster roll. Yum!!
Mmmm!
My best❤ bro❤
That old lady in the background was the nicest way the locals say "get the f**k out, your making it difficult to drive and walk".
No mention to Salve Regina at all?? College located in the heart of the mansions. Hmmmmm
Was I seeing palm trees 🌴
Yeah.. that clip got mixed up in this video
@@YellowProductions seemed strange considering it's north of nyc
I live there and would never pay $30 for that lobster roll. We almost all make clear chowder.
What's your favorite lobster roll spot?
That is too much!
💜💜💜
So when did Newport Rhode Island get palm trees?
My state Rhode Island is the best my home
TF Green is by far the place to fly into - small and easy. Logan is a horror show.
The bridge from Jamestown has been jacked up to a one lane in and out; for the love of christ and your own sanity, come over from tiverton.
00:13, you sure that's Newport? I see a bunch of palm trees. Palms don't grow in New England...
Newport Beach in California 😀
you forgot the tennis hall of fame!!! also I will never call it marriit ott is ott not it and th is thuh not silent h you said they used the h but you never said thames you said tames !!!
Yo, why didnt you let me know you were in town?
If you’re doing selfies, you got the camera way too close to your face
0:12 little confusing
Palm trees? That's not Newport RI
TFG Airport is not in Providence it's in Warwick. They have flights to many different destinations. Please if you're going to talk about my home please get it right. And it's Thames St not Tames.
You must be Italian cause I don’t think you could talk without your hands
Um, you showed the wrong Newport at 0:13 🤣
Yeah. Some wrong b-roll snuck in!
The police in newport have a splendid reputation for doing whatever they please and letting the courts sort it out. It’s not a place I would describe as a travel destination I have no reason to lie.
$30.00, Jesus. Was it at gun point.
