Today my friend didn't want to give my cube back because he was shuffling it and said he wasn't done for 6 mins and kept saying "don't look" like wtf?jokes on him I still solved it in 28 seconds.LIKE SCRAMBE IT FOR AN HOUR ITS STILL THE SAME DIFFICULTY
0:56 As of 2020, he is actually correct (the answer was either Australia or South Korea before that) 1:29 Again, pretty accurate as of 2020 (with less than half a second off)
+Hansen Chu a third of the population aren't cubers, if they were it would be a major world competition and shit. Thats basically saying 2.4 billion people play with a toy as a competitive sport.
Cubing is just another community of like-minded people. It's a skill anyone can learn and although its not be a life skill, at least it gives you an extra ice-breaker. There is no reason not to learn to solve at least a 2x2. I have a 2x2, 3x3 and a 4x4 and I enjoy picking up a cube in some spare time and doing the same thing I've done hundreds of times before. Its a puzzle and it helps to get your mind off things.
1. find a cuber who looks slower than you 2. pretend to be a non cuber in front of them (i just peel the stickers off etc.) 3. do a solv 4. watch their reaction
I mean that last kid isn't wrong he said that you do layers and then sides so pretty much he is referring to CFOP so the first two layers then oll (side) then pll and the cube is solved so he is kind of smart...
*Cubers logic* A Cuber: (walks up to a non-cuber) Hey, how many (1 look) OLL and PLL and ZBLL algorithms are there? Non-cuber: Ughhh... Cuber: HOLY SHIT U NOM CUBER, IM GOING TO MAI CUBING CHANNEL (Thecubercubes cuber) AND MAKE A VIDEO CALLED 69 THINGS NON CUBERS SAY!!!
Always an interesting one: Do you have to be good at math to solve a rubik's cube? This is one thing that the lay person often gets right and most speedcubers get wrong. It is quite difficult to *solve* a cube if you are not good at math. Without math it is certainly possible to mechanically put the pieces in place using *someone else's solution* but this is not the same as actually solving it. If on a test you copied an answer to a problem then you might have the right answer on your test, but you didn't solve the problem. I actually learned a boxed solution to get the cube to a solved state first, and then came up with my own solution later. I did not actually feel like I had solved the cube until after accomplishing the second feat.
+tuerda Ah apologies I skimmed through your comments anyways hmm when it comes to this sort of case it's more of a teacher passing down his/her knowledge to you i.e. methods you'd get from other people so you're essentially learning than copying IMO. Should you be good in math to know how to solve a cube? yes and no, you can solve a cube with math but you could still solve it by pure intuition or having an understanding just about the cube itself. I guess being good in math would make it easier? Knowledge is what you absorb/observe from everything around idk though maybe this is all nonsense I think I blabbered too much anyways yeh you're right though tis quite an interesting question.
It is an interesting question, but I think there is quite a bit to be said for the relationship of Rubik's cubes and mathematics. In essence, solving a Rubik's cube is a group theory problem, and not a particularly easy one at that. If your intuition about the Rubik's cube is strong your intuition about mathematics should also be pretty strong because it's quite closely related. I don't know of anyone who has solved a Rubik's cube by intuition alone though. They have all either used some kind of algorithms (which were learned from someplace else) or commutators, which is something that comes directly from group theory, which is a pretty serious branch of mathematics. It is worth noting that almost all human developed algorithms for a Rubik's cube ARE commutators. The ones that are not have mostly been found by computers. My own solution to the Rubik's cube, which it took me a really long time to develop even after learning several different solutions, relies pretty heavily on commutators. It is slow, complicated, and awful. After figuring it out I think I have only ever used it a few times, just to convince myself that I actually had found a method that would solve every possible case. When getting a Rubik's cube into a solved state, I usually use the Roux method. The difference between the Rubik's cube and other similar puzzles (burr puzzles, etc.) is that the Rubik's cube is really much much harder. Trying to figure it out just by being clever is not likely to ever work. Down to the nuts and bolts, the Rubik's cube is a very difficult math problem, and if you actually fully understand every turn you do in order to run through a solve, then you probably are not nearly as bad at math as you think you are.
Haha, math and logic are in no way related, you do not need math when solving a rubik's cube, and the you're never going to be faster than a person using cfop if you literally try to do it without algorithms. Even if your were to solve it without know the solution, that would require logic. If it requires math, I would like a very specific explanation to how you would use it.
When I was a non cuber: I thought it was spelled rubics cube with a c I thought the world record was 1.337 seconds -_- And I thought the mega minx was called the 'shooting star' Why, why 4 months ago me?
its not really a rubiks cube. its pretty much a 3x3x3 or the whatever type of 3x3 it is, for example, a shengshou cube or moyu cube, none of those 3x3x3s or 2x2x2s looked like rubiks brand.
anecdotal evidence doesn't work as a good argument but since you brought it up. I'm only decent at math and after my first week of solving a rubik's cube I was down to around 2 minutes, currently at around 30 seconds and it's been about 2 months.
At 3:17 I spat out my drink. No seriously. Who says these seven words? "I don't know a square Rubik's cube?" 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. I even numbered them for you.
I find it really annoying when people at school ask me if im just doing random moves to solve a 3x3 orv how they tell mebwhen they could solve a 4x4 in 20 seconds and now thet lost the cube or forgot how to do it
Whats funny about that? They don't like Rubik's cubes, so they don't know the answers. It's like making fun of a baby for not being able to answer a algebra question, he is not supposed to know the answer.
Exactly how I felt. I know it's not that serious but these "non-cubers" videos mostly try to show quite non cubers as somehow inferior??? which i totally do not get

You're don't know how to spell the Rubik's cube. It's R-U-B-I-K K-O-C-K-A
When I was a non cuber:
I thought it was spelled rubics cube with a c
I thought the world record was 1.337 seconds -_-
And I thought the mega minx was called the 'shooting star'

I'm a cuber but what does gj mean lol
Adam L it means good job, they also use it in online games
MusicMaster 288 does it actually? I knew it meant that just wasn't sure if it was used differently for cubing
Adam L yup, btw how long does it take you to solve one?

Great video! It's always funny to see non cubers answer questions like this. I showed kids at my camp my 2x2 and they all called it a 'four cube' haha
Im actually very good at math , and I've started training the rubiks cube for aweek only and now i can solve it in 3 min ,
So i dont know
anecdotal evidence doesn't work as a good argument but since you brought it up. I'm only decent at math and after my first week of solving a rubik's cube I was down to around 2 minutes, currently at around 30 seconds and it's been about 2 months.

"No" "why not" "bc I'm good at math and I can't solve a rubies cube" that kid has flawless logic
At 3:17 I spat out my drink.
No seriously. Who says these seven words?
"I don't know a square Rubik's cube?"
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
I even numbered them for you.
Omg kids hair on 1:43 is like anime irl i like it soo much lmao
great video HC. I enjoyed watching it

+JustKeepCubing it was a John Hopkins program, but it wasn't at that college. yeah... really hard to explain
+Hashtag Cuber summer program right? I went to one in california
awssome outro loved this great work
You don't need to know anything about math to be able to memorise a few algorithms to solve a Rubik's cube.
2:18 Feeling proud to know about the world record.
"Morris do you wanna do my outro for my video"
"No I don't"
TOO FUCKIN BAD KID, YOURE THE OUTRO
Her: do you want to do my outro for the video?
Him: no I don't.
Me: to late
1:06 he honestly looks like the most anti social and shy person in the world
gj is not only a cubing thing, I see it used a lot outside of cubing
Lol this is hilarious! Awesome video!
I know this video is old, but at 1:28 , that guy came close to the current WR. The wr is 3.47 and he said 3.2. Just miss.....
Sides don't really occur on a cube. Sides would take place on a square. On a cube, there are faces, edges, and vertices. Just sayin.
"how do you spell rubik's in rubik's cube?"
"uuh, r-u-b-i-x? 🤔🤔"
Turns out that 3.2 seconds wasn’t actually far off
morris do you wanna do my outro for my video?
no i dont.
end
that is gold. give that man a medal and a massage he earnt it
0:50 Well, he's not wrong anymore...
I really wish I had one of those Rubik's Pyramids

2:15 this kid is a legend.

I’m a advanced cuber and watching this is so funny, like a minute, lol
this vid made my day

Whats funny about that? They don't like Rubik's cubes, so they don't know the answers. It's like making fun of a baby for not being able to answer a algebra question, he is not supposed to know the answer.

whats your fastest time of solving a 3x3 rubiks cube
lel that kid who said im good at math and i dont know rubiks cube is straight up savage
1:29 That's actually pretty accurate guess now :D ( for a non cuber ofc )
24 layers of rubiks cube? and "red and blue and green and yellow... HOW MANY COLORS ARE THERE?" Holy shit im dead

3:18 the four cube. come on people!
Is that at the John Hopkins Youth Program? I'm going there next summer.
I asked my friend if he can solve a cube and he said don’t you just undo the scramble, you have to learn all the combinations and figure out how to solve that one
"Yeah I just peel the stickers off my Rubik's brand Rubik's cube. YOU CAN'T THOUGH. YOU IDIIIOOOOOT. How I feel everytime someone says this...
Dear non-cubers,
Solving Rubik's cube doesn't need good math skills.
The girl that said the 2x2 was called a mini was right when rubiks released it it was called a pocket cube or mini
for the first one in the start of the video "SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY 🚬."
"Morris do you want to do the outro for my video?" Morris - No.
