The population of these Bull-Finches are reaching the endangered category in the Caribbean….if this hobby continues in Trinidad, Suriname, Guyana and USA it will force illegal traders to smuggle them. During smuggling 95% of them die. This would create a problem for these finches in the wild. In USA…bird breeders are breeding Maccas and African Greys parrots in captivity so why no one is attempting to use the best singers to breed these singing finches in captivity? Local breeding will stop the smuggling of these finches which is damaging their population in the wild.
