    Finally, thank you for explaining perfectly well how to set up safe. Having gone from Dx6i prehistoric (dsm2) via Futaba (good radio, no doubt) to a brand new Dx9 black edition (yeah baby), I found it hard to get it from the manual. I am an user and you managed it to explain to a dummy like me, so thanks! Keep up the good work Horizon!

    Thanks for the great instructional video, Jason. As an owner of a DX6e, it was very pertinent. Not sure I’m quite ready to graduate to an EDF yet, but this warbird. with SAFE SELECT is the way to go!

      soz mate its not a warbird .you shouldn't rely on safe if you want to move to the next step

    • @curvebal
      @curvebal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MclF01 Yes stand corrected not a warbird. But I can’t afford replacing $250 planes while learning to fly them so Safe Select can save the plane and let me fly another day.

    • @MclF01
      @MclF01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      safe is ok but you shouldn't rely on it.and that will not give you the conderfance to fly $250 for you but close to $500 aud for me .. my advise if ur learning don't buy expensive ones

    I have eflite viper 70. and station DX6.
    the station brings an Aux2 that I have enabled but it does not move in channels.
    I have enabled a switch to the auxiliary2 to connect and disconnect the stabilization, and although I follow the steps of joining the Stick to the center and moving the assigned switch 5 times, the stabilization is not interrupted. What should I do?

    I am certainly quite interested in checking one of these out, I would agree with RC Hobbyist Extreme when choosing a higher C rating lipo for a EDF. 40 or 50C would be more ideal. 30C would Puff quickly and I would not recommend it.

    Hello Jason, I’m not sure if you actually do look at this comments but if you do, I want to say many thanks for explaining how to setup this viper 70 so well. I have a question for you, any idea why my viper 70 after I rebuild it from a crash, will now take off and immediately roll over even with safe mode on. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks again for all your very detail description you have made and I’ve seen them all. You rock.

    You keep banging on about ec3 & ec5 connectors and adapters. The advice you should give is to solder on your own connector to match your batteries! Having multiple connections is just more points of failure.

      or have options like FMS gives you .i like how they say we recommend this lipo but u need to cut some foam to make it fit and it will make it abit nose heavy ..??? im laughing alot when i heard that ...well i recommend you fire the person who approved that . anyway its the FMS viper just repainted eflight electrics i just think its to cheap for
      eflite to have that cheap retracts....turn safe off

      Not everyone has a soldering gun. It is easier to order a connector than soldering on thicker wires. I mysrlf use a butane torch. It gets much hotter and works faster on a connector and has less chance of damage because it works so much faster.

      The point is that the EC5 connector better handles the higher current than the EC3. Also, the supplied esc has the EC5.

    When you were setting the flaps movement number 0 position was a 100, position 2 was -65. Why was position 1 Positive 45? Wouldn't that be flap moving up?

    • @leerenslear1064
      @leerenslear1064 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      servos are at zero degrees with power on and no input-----full travel up or down is either 100 positive or 100 negative----set up called for reversing flap setting...so with plane level , flaps are 100% positive using a maintained 3 position switch , in position 0. flaps up ....... using switch in 1 position the number suggested is 45 positive--- you could pick any setting you like 45+ or 45- just depends on how far you wish your takeoff flaps to travel...the farther you head to a negative number,the farther the flaps will descend down....or a higher positive number,say55 will raise them higher for less flap travel.... landing flaps call for numbers to go past 0 into a negative value,their recommendation was neg.65...you could go full down position which would be negative 100......and because you are using a switch it maintains its position and stays at your switch position settings....hope this helps.....

    I havent flown RC airplanes in 2 decades, I used to fly pattern ships and pylon racers. Now I fly RC Helo's have a Blade 230S, But this plane
    looks REALLY cool and has better flight chars than normal Jets I have seen. I only have a DX6 radio. SO will have to debate on the radio upgrade, I do however like the flaps tied to the Safe Select... so good call for 6 chan radio owners... I may buy own, my only hang up is that I am NOT a fan of foam planes.... So I don't know.

    Does the Viper receiver respond to Forward Programming? Probably not since I didn't see that menu option after binding SAFE. However, installing an AR630 will add a 7th Aux2 Channel on binding and activate Forward Programming.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original BNF Basic version of the Viper 70mm (EFL7750) included an AR636 receiver that was NOT forward programming compatible. The current BNF Basic version (EFL77500) includes an AR631 receiver that IS forward programming compatible: www.horizonhobby.com/product/viper-70mm-edf-jet-bnf-basic-with-as3x-and-safe-select-1100mm/EFL77500.html

    Cannot have the same results on the P51. By reversing flaps my D switch works in reverse, meaning switch down flaps up and vice versa, to fix that I have to set up flaps to negative, on top of that Safe in on with flaps up. Don't understand why having tha same radio but different plane things don't work. Any suggestions?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After you reverse the channel for flaps again, change the values in the Flap System menu to get the flaps to go the other way for a given switch position. For example, you can change 100 to -100 (or -100 to 100) so the flaps are up instead of down (or down instead of up) with the D switch in the same position. After you do this SAFE Select should be on when the flaps are down instead of up :)

  • @deppi
    @deppi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you set up so flaps and retracts are same channel ? So safe can still be assigned on a seperate channel??

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, because the flaps will go up when the gear go down and vice versa (which is the opposite of what you would want). If you only have a 6-channel transmitter, your only option is to combine flaps and SAFE as shown in this video. This is why we recommend 7-8+ channel transmitters for most of our models now.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Thierry! As explained in this video for the 70mm model, if you only have a 6-channel transmitter you will need to combine the SAFE Select function with the flap channel/function. You need at least at 7-channel transmitter to have SAFE Select on a separate channel/switch (because you need to use channel 5 for the retracts and channel 6 for the flaps).

    How do I un designate a switch from Safe? I've tried everything and nothing works.

    • @horizonsean8090
      @horizonsean8090 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the same as setting the switch. Hold the stick into the lower inside corners and toggle the switch 5 times.

    • @leniterfortis4832
      @leniterfortis4832 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if I designate a different switch to Safe, it will undo the other? Because I've tried that and it won't even designate the new switch.

    • @horizonsean8090
      @horizonsean8090 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is the other switch your trying to assign operating a channel? I don't know what radio you are using but you should be able to go into ether the monitor screen or the servo setup screen and toggle the switch. You should see an indicator for a channel out put moving. If it's not you will need to go in to your radio and tell it that you want, say switch F to operate aux3. Once you have assigned a channel to a switch i the radio you can then move your SAFE select switch. You also need to be in high rates when you assign or un-assign a switch.

    • @leniterfortis4832
      @leniterfortis4832 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have DX6e transmitter, and right now I have the Safe switch designated to the landing gear switch. I'm just trying to find out how to get it off.

    • @horizonsean8090
      @horizonsean8090 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Radio on, Plane on, hold sticks in and down wile toggling your gear switch 5 times this will turn off your SAFE select switch. This will leave you in SAFE mode only. If you want to disable SAFE rebind with the bind plug left in the receiver until after the radio has finished binding, then remove the bind plug. Your plane will now only be in AS3X.

  • @contrains1264
    @contrains1264 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why can't you use the other switches for safe select

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a 7+ channel transmitter you can assign SAFE Select to a separate channel (from 7-9) and switch! You only need to combine it with the flap channel/switch if you have a 6-channel transmitter.

    Time to stop including the Dx6i on newer planes. I wouldnt even buy a 6 channel transmitter any more. The DX 9 seems to be the best bang for the buck. Everyone that has a DX 6 usually finds out quickly they wish they had bought the DX 9. I did .
