Physics: 'Shatter Protection' is "Inversely proportional" to 'Scratch Resistance' Meaning: A tough glass like 2nd Gen Ceramic Shield in iPhone 16 (6x stronger than normal glass) can be easily scratched but won't break during accidental drops while normal glass won't be easily scratched but will break to pieces if you drop it
FYI: iPhones are shipped with 'Sapphire Coating' above the camera lenses to prevent lens shattering under accidental drops(The only mineral stronger than Sapphire is Diamond) Pls STOP covering your iPhone lenses with cheap glass/ plastic lens protectors since it's like sticking a plastic sheet on your expensive spectacles and then trying to see through them.
Ceramic shield was introduced in iPhone 12 providing 4x better 'Shatter Protection' than normal glass New Ceramic shield in iPhone 16 is "50% tougher" than first generation ceramic shield introduced in iPhone 12 The Catch is that 'Shatter Protection' is "Inversely proportional" to 'Scratch Resistance' meaning that a tough glass like ceramic shield can be easily scratched but won't break during accidental drops while normal glass won't be easily scratched but will shatter to pieces if you drop it Hence, it is easier than ever to scratch the iPhone 16 but it won't break even if you drop it from the stairs Why do this? Since most people put Cheap 3rd party screen protectors anyway which are basically better at scratch resistance making them more prone to shattering At the end of the day, Cheap Screen Protector will prevent scratches and tough Ceramic shield will prevent iPhone's Screen from Breaking.
Thanks for the details! It’s frustrating to think that this could happen right out of the box, especially when companies don’t advertise the downsides, leaving the average user unaware. Spending so much on a phone only to face issues like this is disappointing. Do you know what other competitors, like Samsung or Google, are using? And if they’ve achieved a better balance than Apple in terms of Shattering and scratch resistance?
Yes, but only if you’re getting a good deal. If it’s just a difference of around Rs. 10,000 between 15 and 16, I would still prefer the 16. If it’s around Rs. 20,000 then 15 is definitely a better option.
I don’t think it makes sense to upgrade if one already has an iPhone 13 or later. The only reason why I got this is because of the fear of missing out on Apple intelligence (not a very smart decision LOL). IPhone 15 makes more sense at this point and is better value for money as all other features like the camera button, Action button are pretty much useless (at least for me). iPhone 17 will make more sense and will hopefully have Apple intelligence out of the box along with the 120 Hz screen refresh rate😍.
@@ChadhaAkshayEven IPhone SE 4 will be better Option Than iPhone 16 and 15 if someone wants apple Intelligence. Iam Looking To the Se 4 also next year 🤞
