fantastic series matey - loving the fact that another Yorkshireman enjoys spannering. I really enjoyed LUNMADS Channel ( RIP ) perhaps I've found an as interesting channel mate. I am in North Cambridgeshire close to Ely. Should you ever want to explore the fens on your T140 shout out mate.
Glad you enjoyed it. I learned a lot from Lunmad! My hammers don't seem to have the magic properties that his had :) Love Ely, I lived in Waterbeach for a year or so back in the eighties, didn't have a bike at the time, so I missed out on a riding around the fens, apart from the occasional borrow of a CB250. Happy days.
Great series mate, really enjoying it! Inside of the primary look tidy but lets see how the plates are! I have a 76 T140 also and totally rebuilt my clutch and outer gearbox. Had to replace 2nd gear in main box also. My clutch is fantastic now. Have the top end off at the moment (which I rebuilt two winters ago) as base gasket has a slight but annoying leak. A set of Franz and Grubb gaskets and a on its way from the US. My mate who has rebuilt countless Triumph engines swears by their gaskets, have a look into them. I think you’re in on one of the FB triumph groups as I’m sure I’ve seen your name come up before. Best of luck with this build, I will follow every step of the way!
Thanks for the info. I will look inot Franz and Grubb, but I do seem to have a lot gaskets knocking about, so I don't intend to buy a full set at this time. I am on FB, when I get time ;) The reality these Triumphs are always going to require a little love and cuddles to get the best out of them.
Great to hear. The different size Triumph twins all use very similar design ideas, so there should be a lot of things virtually the same, perhaps just scaled down a little.
Always a relief when a cover comes off and everything looks ok.
Yes I thought that, but looks can be deceiving :) More to come ;)
Bog roll centres over the con rods😉
Thanks for the tip. Simple but effective. Must collect a few.
