Natina passed away almost 15-20 years ago. It wasn't much longer after Bring It On premiered actually. She was married to Kurupt, a West Coast legend in the rap game who was signed to Death Row. To this day, even though he remarried, people still speculate that Kurupt's substance abuse issues stem from Natina's death. Natina was also in the girl group Blaque, and the lead singer of Blaque is married to Ronnie Devoe from New Edition. Hollywood is a small world lol
This movie reminds me so much of high school…though it came out when I was in Primary school. But my high school were Cheer state champs and placed at nationals every single year since I was in middle school. Our football team sucked and our basketball teams was just ok. But the cheerleaders were the pride of the school. So that’s why this movie really reminds me of high school. They were super talented and a few girls would come from different places on the east coast to try out and transferred to our school. Anytime I hear people say that cheerleading isn’t a sport it drives me nuts because the cheerleaders from back when I was in high school worked so damn hard. And when they were working on a new routine you could see it all over them…they were covered in bruises and some of them in slings, casts, or crutches. So when people say it’s not a sport at all or not a hard sport I always try to explain to them it isn’t just clapping and yelling it’s group rhythmic gymnastics with lifts, tosses, and intricate tricks that incorporate dance. The cheering part is of course part of it but real competition teams are more about the gymnastics and dance routines.
I miss when movies used to have bloopers at the end. I had the DVD of this movie and there were also some deleted scenes, one in particular that show Torrance, Missy, and Isis going to college together and being friends. Cliff is there too.
February of last year Gabrielle Union said in a Instagram story that there were more scenes with the Clovers that weren't in the movie but appear in the trailer. She said the studio had those scenes filmed and put in trailer to attract the black audience.
I talk about this all the time! I didnt know gabrielle mentioned it but its something that always upset me, we really should have been able to see the lives of both squads. I feel like it would have added a lot more emotion to why we would root for the clovers, not just because their routines were stolen.
@@AmBotSoursxx It's upsetting, but i see why. Pacing im sure had a lot to do with it. This is Torrance journey here. The ranchos torros who have been on top 5 years only to learn there cheers are not original. Starting over from scratch the torros make a comeback! The storywise this was a good idea.
New Hope Mississippi is a tiny little town in Mississippi. The reason that team got third is because they were actually winning championships for several years at the time. So they did a cameo with that years actual team.
Kirsten Dunst in her prime god I love her!!! This movie and Drop Dead Gorgeous are sooooo f*CKING iconic. Both staring Kirsten Dunst playin similar but also vastly different characters.
When I first saw this film when I was younger I thought the Clovers were the bad cheerleaders. However, as I got older this is a great representation of cultural appropriation. The Toros just took all the style and flavor out of the cheers.
Cheerleaders were originally from Ivy League schools in the late 1800s , is it cultural appropriation for the Clovers to be doing cheerleading , the character Big Red was just a thief of intellectual property (the cheers from the clovers) but the toros didn’t try and act like the clovers they just used a handful of their cheers
I'm a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan and I always liked that lots of Buffy main characters were in all these teen movies I mean even one of the Buffy season big bads aka Glory plays a cheerleader here lol and Faith of course it's a win 🎬
Easily one of my favorite movies of all time. I seen it in theaters at least twice when I was 10, and it's been a fave ever since. It's like Mean Girls, there's just so much fun in it.
You said this was a staple that everyone watched when they were younger, but my younger was 29 in 2000. I remember being in high school in the late 80s and thinking when the year 2000 hits I will be so old at 28. I would take being 28 in a heartbeat over being 52 now, because emotionally I'm still in my 20s and never want to be one of those cranky older people. Enjoyed the reaction.
@@kharma101 The one positive I had from getting older was that I got past my being shy phase. I used to be really bashful and once I hit my mid 30s I didn’t care I said what was on my mind. TMI became my middle name……LOL

This is one of my favorite movies. I remember going to my first sleepover in 3rd grade and we watched this... definitely not appropriate but it was the early 2000s lmao.
OMG, SAME. It was the early 2000s... My sister (born in 89) and I (born in 94) watched so many lewd early 2000s teen comedies that were so not appropriate for our ages (especially mine) like this, American Pie and Road Trip, but our parents just didn't really care as long as it wasn't horror or thriller or some other sh*t like that. It was a wilding time... XD
LOL, that's definitely not Flordia. That's my hometown, Oceanside, California. The final competition was filmed at what is now called the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre, Downtown Oceanside at our beach. If you're into Eliza Dushku you guys should also checkout the movie Wrong Turn.
I was 19 and freshly out of the closet when I saw this in theaters. I had been going to a local gay bar, drinking Virgin drinks, and flirting with the hot slightly older bartender. We realized his best friend was actually a good friend of mine from my Christian high school a few grades ahead of me. They invited me to see this and it was great, but then our mutual friend went on a mission trip with her church and Jesus told her not to associate with gays and we lost touch.
Sometimes dude on the right needs to zip his lips and let the movie play out. Before it was a third of the way in, he’d predicted several plot developments or character inner thoughts/turmoils that were completely wrong. Just enjoy the movie, bud and crack a joke or comment on what going down but leave the predictions in your crystal ball. 😢
White dudes saying both teams deserve to win after the black team has been great consistently, while the white team finally came up with their own routine…interesting
i never thought about that cause who cares about adults lol and i was a cheerleader and i totally erased from my mind that there should be a school coach lol
LOVE IT !!! ...I got to meet Kirsten Dunst in 1995... New Orleans Anne Rice's Halloween Memnoch Ball..was sitinng next to Anne,& talking to her.... Kirsten & her Mom came in...Anne stopped talking to me ...stood up & grabbed Kirsten's hand & said she couldn't imagined someone doing Claudia in Interview with Vampire like zhe did...spent lot of time aftrer talking to Kirsten & Mom...One BIG LOL...Kirsten's hair was straight ..her Mom said they tried to use a curling iron to put ringlets in hair like movie..she said they Fried her hair doing it & it smelled like burnt pork rinds in their Hotel room...LOL...
I got so confused when you said it wasn’t realistic to have open conversations during study hall bc we were never told not to talk 😭 my study hall teachers really didn’t give af, we could go sit wherever around the school or we could stay in the classroom and fuck around all class period, they did not care.
If you haven't seen Dwayne Johnson do his 'monologue' from Bring It On in the movie Be Cool (2005) the you're missing out. Elliot Wilhelm is the best of all his characters, imo. So funny.
it really doesnt take that long to learn choreo. can learn a routine in a day so 3 weeks is more than enough time for people who have been doing this for at least 4 years
That’s awesome! I’m genuinely psyched that you are able to pick up an entire routine in such a (relatively) short time. I never could 😂 In fairness, I think the filmmaking/narrative was trying to emphasize how the Toros weren’t used to (or maybe just ill-equipped to handle) any kind of creativity or genuine effort…beyond robotically drilling each year’s (stolen) routine.
Yea, we learned an entire comp routine on a long Saturday practice. Our coach filmed it as well so we could refer to it but we did learn our entire routine on an 8 hour day
True. Dancers, gymnasts, and cheerleaders all have that talent. Most people don't realize how much of a skill it is to see a routine only a few times and memorize it AND put your own "stank" on it lol
I like your channel, but you guys do not give credit where its due at all. Movie wise -- It's not fair to say a movie is "so 2000s" when it basically forged a path in the genre. It's "so 2000s" because of its impact and what followed. There weren't these movies navigating equity and fairness back then. It's not superficial to have a teen movie gain mass popularity, remain light and address race and socio-economic issues. Plot wise -- It's honestly bizarre that your take-away is that the Toros are impressive in the situation. Their reputation and track record was built on stolen routines. The only reason they weren't disqualified and got a second chance to place second place is because the previous year they won 1st with a stolen routine. It's like applauding the bare minimum. They had to start over because they started with theft. You guys acting like it's more impressive they came up with a new routine to get 2nd is weird and misses the point here.
Clovers definitely deserved the win alone, their routine has been getting stolen and used as winning routines by the torros for years!
The short girl from the clovers that was really feisty passed away a few years ago sadly. She was hit by a car. RIP Natina Reed
