  • 100% Natural & Organic Essential Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil Lip Balms
    Enjoy this organic, all natural Homemade lip balm that is simple & easy to create! It has a long shelf life and works well to moisturize the skin on lips. Our recipe utilizes pure ingredients that you can feel good about putting on your body and on our children’s bodies. I love that you can control the quality and scent. You Will Need 1/4 cup each of beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil (use equal amounts of each to increase quantity as desired - be sure to increase essential oil quantity as well), and 12-20 drops of essential oil (more or less as preferred) Suggested oils: grapefruit, sweet orange, peppermint, lavender, vanilla, chamomile. Prepare containers for quick pour once ingredients are completely melted. Using either a double boiler or a sauce pot with bowl, add the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil. Melt over medium heat. Once melted, remove from heat. If using essential oils, add them now and stir to combine. Use a heat protector to hold the bowl and pour the mixture through the funnel into your awaiting containers or use baster. Remember the liquid will set quickly so make sure to pour it right after removing from the heat. Let the balm set at room temperature. It is ready to use once solid! Tips To speed the process up, you can place a piece of foil over the top of the bowl if using the saucepan and bowl method. Prepare containers before melting process, and have heat protective gloves ready for use. Use balm-style containers or chapstick tubes; always your preference! Using beeswax pellets makes the process easier. Tools You Might Need: funnel, double boiler or saucepan with a bowl, containers to hold the balm, spatula, heat protective gloves, damp clothes for cleaning containers. Enjoy!

    Beautiful video ❤ I just started making mine and they're great! I noticed you use equal amounts of each. I've been doing 3 part oil 1 part butter and 1 part wax. Is that too much liquid? They seem fine.

    • @itsourabundantlife
      @itsourabundantlife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching. As far as safe, you would need to study the company and ingredients. We like to use the Bobby approved app too do research on different brands. You don't even need to use essential oils, but if you choose to, have fun with it and find a natural and healthy way to add scents you love!

      You want to be careful with citruses especially because they are photo sensitive meaning it will burn the skin in the sun. Candy flavoring available anywhere like Michaels or somewhere that you buy melt and pour candy supplies will work great for flavoring too and you likely don't run risk of burning. :-)

      Hello and thank you for watching! You are welcome to use any amount you'd prefer! I tend to use a few more drops than needed, for a stronger aroma. For this recipe I typically will use 15-20 drops of one scent or in combination of multiple scents, but usually not going over 20 drops in total. Hope this has been helpful! God Bless you!

    Thank you for sharing how to make this, really easy to follow 😊. Question, do you have to use Coconut oil? Can i just use Shae butter and Beeswax? I keep seeing Coconut oil but unsure why ... Many thanks

    • @farihaislam7087
      @farihaislam7087 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Its not specifically coconut oil its just any type of carrier oils.
      You need oil/oils to soften the lip balm enough so that it glides over your skin.
      If its just shea butter and beeswax, the balm will be too hard.
      A typical lipbalm recipe has 1 part butter, 1 part oil and 1 part wax.
      However, you can just use butter and beeswax. In that case the ratio of wax compared to shea has to be quite low. For e.g
      30% beeswax and 70% shea butter.

    • @itsourabundantlife
      @itsourabundantlife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for viewing and sending your question! I do believe that the coconut oil or other softer oil will be beneficial in creating a smooth lip balm, and with many added health benefits, too. You can research and use other oils of your liking, however the hardness will be a factor depending on the oils you use for your mixture. Let us know what you use and how it goes. Blessings to you!

      You have to use some sort of oil - coconut, sunflower, avocado, olive, walnut, almond, etc. Simply shea + wax is too grainy and hard. Oil moisturizes lips well. Note that the wax keeps oil from melting in high temps. Ratio has to be right.

    • @mjremy2605
      @mjremy2605 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DimplesbabsDJ The measurements can be in grams, ounces, cups, etc, and this does not matter. It is the ratio. 1 part of each. Use any measuring device.
