Dude! I had my boat for about 5 yrs and this by far is the most in-depth true diy upgrade video for this boat to date. Where were you when I needed to mount my rod holders lol. Great work my man. I'm going to change out my deck for your design and that wheel mod was damn genius. Most channels show the work done but not how to do it.
This is an amazing video that's sold me on getting a Colorado pontoon. I can't wait to get started on putting these mods onto it after I get it, especially love the deck.
Great job!! This is really well done and I am going to use most of your mods. I am using 1 inch aluminum instead of pvc and wood and putting the battery in a 4 inch deep cut out on my platform in front of the seat. The wheels I did exactly as you and it works great. The motor mount I am using 3, 1/2 inch pvc boards glued and bolted together. I have to say having the wheels down in the lake makes a huge difference…..great thinking. I truly appreciate you sharing your ideas and the professional way you produced the video. Huge thanks!
Nice!! I recently added a higher seat pedestal and found that if I have to ever row, I'm F'd. lol Its a challenge rowing with the high seat. I mostly troll for trout though. I like the batter under the seat idea. I bet that helps with the weight distribution. Great video.
That’s funny I just sent you a message, but I had the same rowing problem especially being over 6’ tall. Oar lock risers are probably the solution, but trolling motor beats all.
It’s important to know that the Colorado XT has a wider frame than the wilderness. I followed you measurements without testing and measuring my frame. My platform looked great, but is too big for the wilderness. Now I need to redo things 😢
May I ask what rod holders you purchased from Amazon? On the parts list for the seat is the hardware that attaches the swivel to the seat listed as well. Going through this very scenario and your solution is one I’d like to use. Thanks
Great video, I have a few questions. Do you have a part number for the aluminum plank at Tommy Dock? I've looked over their site and don't see individual pieces, and how long are the deck planks.
Great build. I have yet to do the platform and seat riser. What would happen if your battery or motor goes out? Are you bringing oars as well? I bring fins but I don't think I could kick when I'm in a raise position. In addition my rod holds, down rigger, and livescope is mounted on the side
Could you do a much more detailed video on the wheel assembly ? I have a fishcat 9’ and my frame setup is a little different with some diamond plate flooring behind the seat.... but there is a frame crossmember at the very back of the “floor”. If I had wheels I could exit the river in more places ...vs only where automobile access is very close.
Wonderful video. Saving up for the Colorado pontoon set up myself. Other than the #$@& mute button, outstanding run through. Will definitely be doing the casting deck idea, plus this jas given me so many other ideas. Thanks a bunch mate, really appreciate your video.
Rowing is considerably more difficult with the seat raised. I think if I extend the oars it would be better. I haven’t really rowed since putting the trolling motor on.
In your material list you show 2- 1 1/4” x 3” ( four coupling) ?? Is this a 3” necked down to 1 1/4”?? Is this the black furniture pvc or white on this? Thank you for any information
You're my only hope Obe-wan. Have tried every conceivable arrangement to attach the swivel to the seat bottom. Original seat bolts are too long and pass through both sections of the swivel, ie it won't rotate. Maybe I'm over thinking it. You obviously are far more skilled at solving these problems and better equipped than I.
@No3Jacks I had the same problem. I got shorter 1/4-20 hanger bolts and replaced the original ones with the short ones. This gave me clearance to mount the swivel to the frame.
@No3Jacks So, I used 1/4-20 x 2 in hanger bolts but I think you could use panhead screws with a corse thread on the seat side of your swivel to get good clearance as well.
Love your mods! Quick question, what battery box do you use for your battery? I have a groups size 31 battery and I couldn’t really find a good battery box for it.
Thank you! I use this Newport Vessels Trolling Motor Smart Battery Box Power Center with USB and DC Ports a.co/d/4Xu3cP7 The dimensions look like it’ll fit a group 31 battery. From the description: Max Battery Fit - 13.75" x 7.5" x 9.75"
I got the aluminum decking from tommydocks.com/products/aluminum-panel-47-3-4-x-5-1-2 I got the furniture grade pvc from Amazon. There’s a lot to pick from so just search Amazon for furniture grade pvc.
Nice video showing awesome adaptations. Two questions, what height is your seat pedestal. And, are you able to lift off the battery case lid and remove battery without removing the seat first?
I would love to see this out for a fishing session! This is a great build. I think I am going to try this build with composite deck boards. Do you think the wooden dowels are a must have or could this be sturdy enough with just the PVC?

Thanks bro! I’m glad you enjoyed.
I can't begin to tell you how proud and impressed l am with you your brother Bill.
This is great thank you for sharing! Will be following your method for the casting deck accept use some old aluminum seats from a dingy for the deck.
Nice work, Brother! I’m in the market, & appreciate you sharing your mods. Also, love the shirt! 👊🏼

Thank you for putting this together. I wish we could have seen it on the water and all put together.
This is the most professional upgrade video I've seen. Well done.
Awesome Casting Deck , just bought the material getting on that project ASAP
Beautiful job on your deck.

Just picked up the same pontoon and hopefully going to add my endura 30lb thrust trolling motor soon

What a great idea. Thanks. Would work great for fly fishing too.
You should make a kit for what you built.
There's a lot of good engineering in this!
Love the mods… im thinking of getting one of these for my fishing channel, gonna make similar mods, but i want to add a pedal drive from a kayak
A pedal drive would be pretty sweet.
Very nice, best I have seen
Ty
Excellent mods! Sub’d🎉
Great job bro that sucker is badass
I like. We are seniors and need the seat very high. And want to be able to stand. Thank you. Nov 16, 2023
I love all your nods and did then to my Colorado pontoon, but I want to ask how did you do the registration plate

Can you show more detail on how you raised the seat. Where or what did you use for the extension?
You can get those extensions from Amazin, Walmart, Bass pro, Cables, Academy etc
Nicely done!
Have you ever attempted a re-entry with the casting deck on?

So I just picked one of these up off Marketplace over the weekend. So when you put the casting deck on and a taller seat, does it feel top heavy?
Could you do a much more detailed video on the wheel assembly ?

I like the double tire mod. Platform is nice too. Im curios how much weight it added? I just changed over to a scadden recently whole boat is 28lbs.
A pontoon vs a kayak which one would you say is better ??? I looking to but one or the other buy one but I’m not sure
Great job, only question i have can you still row if you had too with the seat raised?
Rowing is considerably more difficult with the seat raised. I think if I extend the oars it would be better. I haven’t really rowed since putting the trolling motor on.
@@wiebercraft4974 what would be a great battery to buy for the troling motor
Hey! Great video! I just bought a used boat and they don’t have the original hardware…. So where did you get your black D-Rings?
hell yeah buddy im going to do this set up
In your material list you show 2- 1 1/4” x 3” ( four coupling) ?? Is this a 3” necked down to 1 1/4”?? Is this the black furniture pvc or white on this? Thank you for any information
Question...where can I get a bracket to make wheel set up mine didn't have one??
Did you have trouble with trolling motor shaft length and prop maybe bumping your tires?
How tall was the pedestal you used for the seat im getting ready to buy the Colorado xts and do the seat and platform mod that you showed

@@patriotperspective9321 I gave up. I will try again now that I know the secret. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
@No3Jacks I will look at what length hanger bolts I used when I get home from work and report back.

nice mods thank you
I contacted Tommy Docks they are showing me a long piece of aluminum, did you cut those steps yourself from a piece of longer stock?

@@wiebercraft4974 thanks for the infomation. Did you just get one peice at 47 3/4 X 5 1/2 X 1 and cut it into 3 sections equaly.
I like that shirt 😂
Nice video showing awesome adaptations. Two questions, what height is your seat pedestal. And, are you able to lift off the battery case lid and remove battery without removing the seat first?
I'm getting the one without the wheels. I wonder if I can add something similar? 🤔
If it’s one of the classic accessories pontoons you should be fine. I think they all have the bracket to hold a wheel.
nice job
What height pedestal did you use?
I would love to see this out for a fishing session! This is a great build. I think I am going to try this build with composite deck boards. Do you think the wooden dowels are a must have or could this be sturdy enough with just the PVC?
I built a casting deck following a guy named fish and forage, using pvc, and 1/2 plywood, it’s been a dream. Either method won’t steer you wrong.
Do you have a material list for this modification?
Do you have these available to buy for the base colorado not the xt or xts? Id be very happy to purchase one from you?
Can you show how to make the wheels?
Koltuğun dönmesini sağlayan linki atar mısınız
hello, you have already tried it on the sea is it adaptable? THANKS
Sorry, I never tried it on the sea. I think a kayak is better suited for salt water tho.
@@wiebercraft4974 thank you
Can you put a link the the aluminum
What we’re the dimensions of the transom?
20-1/2" x 5" x 1-1/2". I glued two pieces of 3/4" plywood together to get the thickness.
This is easily over 100 bucks on just pvc, but super cool anyways!
How many planks do i need for the deck?
I used two planks. They were 48” long so I cut them in half.
You need to start over because you keep hitting toutr button
Man can you make me the standing platform and ship it to my I will pay you I don't have the tools for this hit me up I'm for real serious about it.
