@@자수정-m2n Yes, but there is also the chance that--if the monarchy survives that long--Charlotte would outlive George, and George's child would already be sitting on the throne. So it would likely go to George's granddaughter, should he have one. Anything is possible though!

I met Princess Anne once. The museum in my local town had had a massive refurbishment and the Spitfire Exhibit was like the main focus. Princess Anne came to reopen the museum and the Spitfire Exhibit. One high school (ages 11 to 16) and one primary school (ages 5 to 11) got to be there at the re-opening and my primary school was the one invited. 2 students from each school got to go up and shake Princess Anne's hand and I was one of the students chosen for my school so I got to meet her and say hello and shake her hand. My mind was blown when that happened. I was like 8 at the time. I remember Princess Anne had a really warm energy about her and the outfit she was wearing matched my school's colour.

I like how the first 4 Princesses to have this title, had the names: Mary, Anne, Charlotte and Victoria. This is funny because the former's name was also Mary; the current's name is Anne; the next most likely to have it is Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. It would be so incredibly reassuring if Prince George of Cambridge names his daughter Victoria one day, followed by another Louise to top it all in the next 100 years haha.

I think that the life of Victoria, Princess Royal was probably most incredible - I can't believe a major Hollywood production hasn't been based on her!
No other female of royal blood in the history Christendom lived to have amounted all these titles:
    - The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, as the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria
    - Crown Princess of both the Imperial and Royal Crowns of the German Empire and Kingdom of Prussia, respectively.
    - The Kaiserin - The German Empress, The Queen of Prussia.
    - Queen Mother of the Royal Crown of Prussia, as the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II (although she did not choose to use this title)
    - Dowager Empress of the Imperial Crown of the German Empire, as the relict of Kaiser Friedrich III
She also had all these styles during her lifetime:
    - Her Royal Highness

    - Her Imperial & Royal Majesty
    - Her Imperial Majesty

Frederick of Wurttemberg actually had a few skeletons in the closet when he married Charlotte Princess Royal - he had previously married Augusta of Brunswick (the elder sister of the infamous Caroline who later married George Prince of Wales) but their union was deeply unhappy. The ill-matched couple went to Russia where Frederick served in the army and they had three children together. Six years later Frederick returned to Germany with the children but not Augusta.
Exactly what happened is unclear with suggestions of Augusta having affairs or simply wishing to stay at the behest of Catherine the Great, who she had befriended. However, at some point Augusta fell out with Catherine and was sent to live at the remote castle of Lhode. There she mysteriously died - some contemporaries hinted at the time that her estranged husband had something to do with it but others suggest she had another affair and died in childbirth.

German royals both good and bad for centuries had wild marriage or romance stories. Lindsay really should feature King Frederick William IV of Prussia and his wife Elisabeth, their love story literally caused a full blown controversy and possible crisis (because he, a Protestant future monarch, was desiring to marry a Catholic Bavarian princess). Their marriage eventually happened and was a happy one, but sadly for unknown reasons they were unable to have children (so Frederick William's brother Wilhelm took the throne).

That always sounded bizarre, given how much importance her own father placed on family life and spending time with his children instead of keeping them mostly at a distance like other royals. Update on Princess Mary, daughter of George V: Though it's long been thought that Mary did not attend the wedding of Princess Elizabeth (later Elizabeth II) and Prince Philip because she was offended that her brother the Duke of Windsor was not invited, Elizabeth Basford's recent biography of Mary gives a different reason on page 236.
"A further rumour that has escalated and become something of a misconception is that Mary refused to attend the wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten on 20 November 1947 because of her annoyance at the Duke of Windsor not receiving an invitation. This belief finds its roots in Ronald Storrs’s diary, when he mentions going to visit Sir Henry McMahon, a former diplomat, and his wife. ‘They knew all about Princess Mary’s absence from the wedding in anger at the Duke of Windsor not having been invited.’ However, within the same diary entry, Storrs recalls having to leave the couple after only half an hour, finding them rather tiresome, suggesting a discourse of gossip rather than fact.
"In November 1947, just prior to the wedding, Mary explained the real reason for her non-attendance at the wedding to her close friend Dame Mary Tyrwhitt. The letter is marked ‘PRIVATE’ in large capitals. ‘I would like you to know that after all I shall not be coming to London. I felt that the wedding festivities might prove too great a strain. I am very disappointed to miss the wedding. November 17 or 18 the Press must announce I have a chill or something of the sort.’ (The British Army Museum, 9303-1-9, 12 November 1947.) Harry’s death undoubtedly had caused her such great anxiety and upset that she feared she was on the brink of a further nervous breakdown similar to that in the 1930s."
Mary's husband had died in late May 1947 and it was reported that as late as 5 November that Mary was still wearing full mourning. Apparently she did not feel able to participate in such a happy family occasion, though one filled with stresses and awkward situations including the former king and his wife not being invited as well as most of Philip's family, who had close associations with the Nazi's.

Mary I was older than the title, Elizabeth I was older than the title and a second daughter, Mary II didn’t get it as she already had a higher title, Anne was a second daughter, Victoria wasn’t the daughter of a King, and Elizabeth II’s aunt was still alive.

@@lilymarinovic1644 but you have to remember the male primogeniture law back then, a girl was only heir presumptive if she had no brothers because anytime, her father the king could produce a son and the boy thus became the default prince of Wales. That's why they don't give those girls Mary I, Mary II, Elizabeth II, the titles of Princess of Wales when they were young princesses
Edit: Not all Monarchs held the Prince of Wales title (George VI, William IV, James I, Henry VII, Richard III, Edward IV) so now that laws changed, in future, the Prince of Wales necessarily doesn't have to be the heir and if his sister is older she should be correctly styled Princess Royal reserved for the older daughter of a monarch.

Weirdly enough, Madame Royale is more a secondary title, the eldest daughter of the king was called "Madame" alone, Madame Royale was used when the title of Madame was given to the wife of Monsieur, the eldest brother of the king ^^
But it's really not a title, just a fancy way to differenciate them from the other royal people. And even that was not fixed, like Elisabeth of France, eldest daughter of Louis XV was called Madame Royale, Madame or Madame Première (Madame First).

What an absolutely heartless and all around cruel thing to tell your daughter, "losing a husband is much greater than losing a child". While both are obvious great loses, personally I think losing a child is MUCH more of a heartbreak. I couldn't imagine losing either of my daughters or how I would be able to go on without them. I have lost a partner who I loved very much before and while the heartache was great it was not impossible to heal from. There is just a different type of unconditional love a parent feels when they first look upon their child and hold them (no matter if its from a birth or adoption) that imo could never compare to any other type of love for another.
