The main message is be MORE aware of our surroundings ... It is important to notice things... THANK YOU!!! I liked the acting in the video it was fun! :)
Thanks for the info on scams. My wife and I live in Playa Del Carmen and are aware of some scams but your video opened my eyes to some new ones. Don't forget about the scams at the restaurants, make sure to take pictures of the price of the items you order and check your receipt. This scam happens more times than not. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT.
For the Transito scam, another guy I watch who's lived in Ajijic for aboutr 19 years says the same thing. 1. They usuually go after obvious or suspected tourists. If they find out you're a local, they will let you go because you might know somebody and could get them busted. 2. Say you want the ticket, or want to go down to the station (whatever the case may be). The scammer cop will always let you go, because pushing the issue further could get HIM busted for asking for illegal bribes.
Great info -- thanks! I often get visit Vallarta but forget about the scams since i'm on resorts most of the time but I need to remember it everytime i leave the resort.....
The traffic bribe situation is getting worse in the Bucerias area. Of course, you have to be driving to be scammed like this. I have been stopped twice! When asked for the bribe, I said "I prefer not to" and they let me go. As you point out in the video, you can also respond, "Give me the ticket". It's true if you are a resident or have a MX driver's license, they seem to let you go more often than not. I'm sorry to say, maybe it's best not to drive in Nayarit, unless you're prepared to get pulled over for a bribe. Although, the more of us who speak up, perhaps something will get done about it.
Yes, It is getting worse in this area. I know in other parts of Mexico it’s really bad and I don’t want that to be the case here as well. Thanks for sharing.
I've been all over Mexico and Central America...even during wars (El Salvador and Nicaragua). However recently I've heard stories....not about mordidas (bribes) but American women being targeted for kidnapping. Especially in the South...Guadalajara to the border w Guatemala. The Embassy has put out their usual stuff on Jalisco-Michoacan border as being problematic. How safe are older gringas in Mexico now? יוי
🏆 Academy Nominee for best Actress!!! Well done! Thx Paul for your very informative PSA! It’s unfortunate that the ones who are to keep people safe are also the ones who think it’s OK to scam and steal… I only hope this changes “Culturally” from the top AND bottom… imagine if the city of Bucerias had an Advertising campaign warning ⚠️ against such “public servants”? It could turn the tide the other way, no?
A gal at the airport on Thursday who told me she was pulled over the day before she had to leave and the officer told her to pay like $10,000 pesos and if she didn't he would take her DL and she would have to pick up next day and not sure what time. She said her plane leaves next day for Chicago and was worried about missing it so she paid him. She was in Bucerias.
What a shame. Im not sure what the best move is when you have to leave the country the next day. Maybe paying the bribe is the best option. But I wouldn’t pay $10,000! Maximum $500 pesos.
I was walking to the Chedarui with a backpack on. The police stopped and me and searched my pockets because they were looking for someone with marijuana who fit my description (gringo with a blue T shirt). They searched my pockets and backpack and found nothing, I was waiting for them to ask for a bribe, but they didn't and let me go. Still not sure of what to make of this.
The getting sprayed scam happened to us one Saturday morning last October. We were walking past the empty lot across from Hotel Suites Nadia, just north of Ozzie's, when we were sprayed with Frank's Red Hot. We declined the woman's offer to clean us and kept walking.
Good for you guys to reject her offer. I’m sorry you were sprayed with hot sauce. Maybe we should all carry little bottles of Tabasco to spray back at these scammers.
When you had the mask on all i could think was the police drive by and grab you.🤣 thinking it was real. Your mom did a great job in helping you with it. I showed my wfe the part of you coming up in the mask and she burst out laughing.
Tutu here---HaHa! Actually Paul and I arrived at the grocery store and there were 2 police cars in the parking lot with several officers standing around. GREAT!!! Luckily, by the time Paul put the mask on the police had left. Thank you for the acting compliment. 🤩
Driving down to Puerto Vallarta last time…got hit up for the old mordida in Los Mochis! Transito spoke no English but used Google Translate to get his intentions across 😂

Yes it’s better to take the ticket than to encourage corruption. Even if they targeted you.
Always good to be aware of what can go wrong. Thanks for the tips!

I like that idea. I imagine a billboard over highway 200 near Mega.
Paul is a very patient director . Muchas gracias for the nomination 😂

If your smart you never have to worry ❤️
Smart people get scammed all the time.
Avoid taxi s!
Where did you have a bad experience?
Driving down to Puerto Vallarta last time…got hit up for the old mordida in Los Mochis! Transito spoke no English but used Google Translate to get his intentions across 😂
How much did they ask for?
At least you can buy the crooked cops off. Unlike here in the USSA.
Hopefully the corruption doesn’t get too extreme.
Pay cash! They put in dollars instead of pesos
🤔
