  • Join us in today's Morocco hiking vlog, as our group of 6 embarks on a thrilling adventure. Departing from the enchanting city of Chefchaouen, we use a private Grande Taxi that takes us through the majestic Rif Mountains. Our destination: the trailhead leading to the pretty Akchour waterfalls, also known as Grand Cascade D'akchour.
While some agencies offer guided tours for this excursion, we, along with newfound friends from our Intrepid Tour, opted for a different approach. Choosing the flexibility of a Grande Taxi, we journeyed to the outskirts of Talassemtane National Park, where we embarked on our hike through Morocco's lush, green, Rif Mountains. In this video, you'll witness some sections where determining the correct path may require a moment of contemplation. However, it doesn't take long to navigate the trail successfully. If you have prior hiking experience, exploring the Rif Mountains on this trail without a guide is fine.
Throughout our adventure, we encounter wildlife, from the lively Barbary macaques to a farmer's trusty donkey and an abundance of cool insects.
For those seeking an adventure-filled trip to Morocco, our Morocco travel vlog series, documenting our exploration of the country as part of an Intrepid Travel group, is an invaluable resource. Don't miss out on this journey-subscribe today!

Stunning hike Caroline, despite the anticlimactic waterfall. I would have never guessed this was Morocco, definitely looks like something from the U.S. We've had a dry summer here in the U.S as well and I've had quite a few disappointing waterfall hikes. Spring may be better for those. Thanks for bringing us along.

Thanks for sharing the cities Caroline, but I really love the countryside hikes. The monkeys are cool, glad they did not steal your phone or sunnys. We had a 8 year old boy attacked by a cougar on a trail in ONP, his mother chased the cat away. Luckily the boy was not killed and the cougar ran away. Cougars are like Black Bears, and like they say about bears, if it is black fight it, if it is brown play dead, and if it is white your dead. Glad we just have cougars and black bears, not brown or white bears. But we had a hiker killed by a mountain goat a few years ago. But more hikers die here because of falls and crossing rivers, not by animals. Glad the UK does not have bears or cougars. But Morocco may have some big cats and bears. Love 💘your channel! Stay safe and have fun planning your next big adventure. Cheers 🍧🍧🤠

Moroccan bears are extinct for like 150years now(and btw it was the only african country with bears), and Moroccan lions or the Atlas lions are extinct in nature since the 1950s, now they can only be found in Zoos. there's not really any dangerous wild animals in Morocco, even the wolves are small called golden wolves, the only thing than can be scary in Morocco is scorpions, they have like 80 different species of scorpions with about 30 of them relatively dangerous for kids, but scorpions are very shy insects, they won't bother you if you don't go search for them

@@Love_rainy_days ah yes my bad there are snakes too, but i've never seen one there, but aparantly Morocco is home to approximately 40 snake species about 10 or less are venemous, like Saharan Sand Viper, horned viper, moorish viper..etc most of them live in sandy or rocky deserts far away from where humans live. they have many snake spiecies that only exist in morocco and nowhere else in the world with only 1 venemous called the Atlas Dwarf Viper and like it's name indicates deep in the atlas mountains

Crazy cloud cover at the start, beautiful to see it like that from above. When you asked about the country you're in, I would have guessed Albania. The whole hike wouldn't have looked out of place in the Balkans. Excellent facilities, looks like there's a lot of footfall in that area. Cool to see the monkeys climbing the trees - smart move to keep your distance. I've seen plenty of monkey videos where they pinch the tourists belongings, even a camera once. Quite often you don't know what you're going to get with waterfalls, this wasn't one of the most impressive I've seen. 😂. Nice to see this side of Morocco though!

How are you doing mrs Caroline thank you for sharing sharing your trips with us showing us such magnificent landscapes beauty of nature. As always I gathered main information about places you visited briefly here it’s Akchour Waterfalls in Rif mountains its series of waterfalls Ouzoud waterfalls near Marrakesh Cynthia hiking to Akchour located in north of Morocco. About 45 minutes driving from Chefchaouen both city and waterfalls worth to visit. Actually taking taxi drivers is very expensive even during low season best and cheapest way to taking grand taxi . Trip takes 45 minutes. First you visited old Medina and boulevard Hassan 2 till police station. Akchour is small town with one street on which you find few restaurants, park , gate , hydroelectric dam . There are rock formation called ( god bridge ) . Akchour waterfalls is consist of lower waterfall and much taller fall as well as plenty of smaller cascade that run along same river . Wall from dam to grand cascade or big waterfalls takes about 2 hours.one hour of hiking.
