Everyone who ever played an instrument or sang but has dropped it in the last decade is now thinking of heading to the pawn shop, then putting out feelers locally to do something like this.
For real
Do it!
Lol - exactly - I need my band back
Ha! I wonder if my chops will hold up like they used to. I wonder if I still remember the slide positions. I wonder if my wife will notice the tenor bass trombone suddenly appearing in my office!!
It’s the most fun you’ll ever have! 🤘
You know the modern music industry is in trouble when you'd rather come here and listen to this outstanding outfit than buy new music or attend concerts.
Didn't expect Dr. Glenn from Children's Hospital to be my favorite new vocalist of 2024, but... Here we are.
Hello fellow old dads here to enjoy old dad music.
I’m a childless, 32 year old middle aged dad.
Well hello fellow old dad
I'm not an old dad, but I am an old fart.
middle aged Dad reporting for duty sirs!!
For when you’ve passed your cool on to the next generation.
That opening bit was hilarious. If Ken and David weren’t in a band they could totally have a career in comedy.
That bassist is nailing it, and everyone else is amazing too.
Yes, amazing tone for sure
Came for the Doobie Brothers. Stayed for the Geauga Lake t-shirt.
"I grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, then after high school came to New York and went to NYU. " - David Wain
If you take requests, hear me out: based on Ken’s voice, Joe Jackson’s “Is She Really Going Out With Him” or (and I am told this is the greatest country and western song by reliable sources) David Allen Coe’s “You Never Even Called Me By My Name”.
I agree. David Allen Coe. Epic idea!
X3
Thanks for your support! And see you tonight LIVE in Los Angeles! madjb.com
cant wait for tonight!!!!
I WILL BE FRONT AND CENTER TONIGHT!
Can’t wait for the show!
This is so awesome!
I’ve been a huge fan of the State, Stella, Wainy Days, Wet Hot American Summer and I’m loving these videos! Will be visiting LA next month and hope you guys will have a show while I’m out there.
"MF'er stole my harmonica!" 😂
It's awesome when the algorithm brings you things you're actually going to LOVE! Outstanding!
Right??
My thoughts exactly!
That's how I got here today!
Shout out to the A/V crew for making everyone sound and look so damn good!
Very nice, can’t wait to hear the rest!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Since I first heard Ken sing “Danny’s Song” in Wet Hot American Summer, I knew he had them pipes!
This is what you call a garage band, literally. And a dam good one at that.
took the words right out of my mouth
The Geauga Lake shirt!!!! This man has class!
Thumbs up for that Geauga Lake t-shirt alone.
Nice geauga lake shirt david. It was a great amusement park. To bad it didn't survive.
Man, Is that Pat Smear, Awesome
David and Sweet Teddy holding it down
Cool to see Pat Smear having so much fun!
This could use a Weird Al accordion accompaniment.
I'm a vintage 64' Beatle Baby. I want in! Look.....we have a nap, soundcheck, another nap, 8 pm set, we're home before the news. When should I show up?
I was first intrigued by the amazing Scenes video with Weird Al and I have stayed and subscribed for the amazingly great voice of Ken and the amazing musical skills of the accompanying dads and moms and younger generation that are in the videos. I watch these videos, and the great time everyone seems to be having, and I am grooving right along. YES! This is what music is supposed to be all about! I am admittedly not a big TV show guy so I have not seen anything that Ken is in and don't even know if any of the rest of these people are in anything but it is great stuff none the less. Gonna have to check out some shows now!
Oh shit this cover fucking rules. High fives all around, gang.
Spike is NAILING the harmonica. He DOES have a soul.
I'm 44. My dad loves this song. I always hated it. Until now.
My dad did the same thing to us!
Love the Geauga Lake shirt!
Every iteration of the guys from The State makes me happy: Wet Hot American Summer, Burning Love, a bunch of other things, and now this.
I thought this was a spoof when I first tuned in, but you guys rock. I really enjoy your covers. Seems to be outstanding acoustics for a “garage”
I should’ve known Ken Marino could sing! Awesome cover guys.
Geauga Lake…takes me back, man…😢
David...LOVE the Geauga Lake Tshirt. I miss that place.
oh man me too. though might have been more disgusting then we remember
@@DavidWainTube I worked there and it absolutely was. Still miss it though
Always way better than Cedar Point! And on the East side. Love the music, keep it coming!
I would pay for this to be an unlockable on a modern DDR cabinet.
Party Down! Ken you are smashing the vocals!!
As a middle aged dog mom who started playing open mics with a friend a few years ago, I am totally appreciating and loving this!!!
So impressed that these Daddios and those couple of Babes made a Billy Joel song feel fresh. I usually switch stations when I hear this song, but this was great.
Okay, that Harmonica fake-out got me. I think I love everything about your jam band.
David’s a great drummer. Hope he brings back Wainy Days though!
Middle Aged Dads -- Represent!
Scotty's givin her all she's got on that bass!
These songs are great! Looks so fun. Formal request for a cover of Looking Glass' song Brandy (youre a fine girl) please!
Have the perfect venue for y'all to come play. Full of dad bods. Trussville Entertainment District in downtown Trussville, AL.
My dad's cousin was in Doobie Brothers.
Y'all are fantastic! Please do Take the Money and Run by Steve Miller Band 🙏
I like the lead singer....he should try acting someday
David Wain: "I grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, then after high school came to New York and went to NYU." Explains the shirt!
Needs to be a daily !
Request some Steely Dan.
Just, after many years, finally high enough to realize that 'Doobie' was a joint..
You guys are unbelievable. Looks like you've been Groundhog Day'd!!!
I am fat and old. I play bass too. Not quite as good as this bass player who shares some of my attributes. He not only rocks he has the swing thing going on. Wonderful,
And the “Harmonica” being a metaphor for youth? Bravo Madjb. I think I choked up…
Any good act swings, and I bet tonight will be hoppin'. Too bad I'm on the wrong coast. Have a blast, y'all!
CJ killing it!
Holy shit another video!? You guys are on fire! 🔥🔥 These are so unbelievably awesome. I can only hope to be a middle aged dad as sick as yall are!
Another gem y’all
Now that I've seen/heard Frank on the harmonica, I want to see you guys cover "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" by Timbuk 3.
* spark spark (inhale... breath out) yup. *tips hat
Omg, just saw the Geauga Lake shirt! Many memories there! Nice!
Double Loop!
Shockingly good job. Y'all are tight.
LOVE THIS DOG LEAVINGS......😁
Awesome!!
Ah, the Doobie brothers, Pete, Charlie, and little Bobby Doobie.
sounds fantastic
Sweet Teddy is setting that bass on fire!
As a middle-aged dad, y'all are living my dream!
holy shit david wain
holy shit david wain's kid
Every time I pick up a guitar I play this riff for some reason.
Also I have that bass. Great bass. Great job. Love that you’re all rippin and trippin
so crazy how you guys can just choose a song at random and then play it flawlessly 🤯
it wasn't random - we specifically chose a song we wanted to play
Geauga Lake? Right on, blast from the past. Play some Zappa, man.
Omg PLEASE do hypnotized by fleetwood mac
Kudos to the bass player
Nice Geauga Lake T shirt!
I love that the drummer is wearing a Geauga Lake tee shirt. That place closed down in the 80's and I remember going there as a kid in the 70's.
David Wain is from Shaker. His dad, Norman Wain, was a cleveland radio executive for a long, long time. Also Geauga Lake open into the 21st century; it was rebranded as six Flags in 2000.
I'm a bit sick with envy over that "Lemmings" poster. The only saving grace is that you ABSOLUTELY deserve it!
all these voices are so awesome together!
It’s like a really good The State sketch, but with really good music.
Props on the Geauga Lake shirt!
The sound quality is incredible. Nice to see another drummer on the planet has a tuned set and Zildjian cymbals.
Alright! Thats It! I've head enough. Subbed!
you won't regret it!
I’d love to see you guys do a cover of “Walk the Dinosaur”. Maybe not exactly your style but I bet you’d do a great job with it.
They're not related, but they DOOBIE brothers. *smug*
*groan*
@@DawnDavidson your groans only fuel me further. Lol
20 yr old here, so happy to see a new rendition one of my favorite tunes! Love y’all
This is like the band Low Darts in 30 years
Yes to this.
David Wain is POUNDING on them skins!!

Hot Patootie, Bless My Soul
From The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Great version. From Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 😊😊😊❤
This shit is #GOALS. Just SO good.
Thanks for making my day again.
keep em coming guys! i cant get enough!!!
All these guys are great. But that rhythm section is incredible! The bass player can groove for an old guy and the drummer is right in the pocket.
I'm loving these videos! We need more!
I WANT MOAR!!!
Y’all look like you’re having so much fun!
Dads? Doobies? Done!
I’d say you guys could nail “Roll With The Changes” by REO Speedwagon.
These are so good! Please keep em coming!
