    I’ve hooked up everything the same way you did but my dash lights aren’t working. I had this problem with another radio I installed but I did the same thing on this one as I did on the other. Just can’t figure out the problem on this one.

      Retrace your steps and go back wire by wire, there may be a loose connections or it may not be grounded properly.

    I have the same stereo in a 2001 Silverado. My keeps cutting off the power every 3-10 mins. I have to take the face plate off to restart everything. I’m thinking it’s the factory harness, I wish I knew. Do you have an idea why?

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a issue with the radio itself. Have you tried pressing in the “reset” button behind the face plate? If it was a wiring issue you would have issues as soon as you turned it on. Or a wire may be loose and you hit a bump during driving.

    Good video. What model radio did you install and where did you get it?

      Oh man this was years ago. I think it was a kenwood. You can find aftermarket radios anywhere these days. Check out local stereo shops, electronic stores. Online. Just stay away from no name brands.

      Check your grounds., check the head unit settings, and re check your connections. If it’s a low end stereo try swapping it out for a new one.

    What dash kit did you purchase. I’ve been looking to get a single din radio but my 99 Silverado has the oddball 1.5 din

      Hey, i got this off eBay I believe. Not expensive at all. Just search your year make and model + single din dash kit. It will pop up. Don’t forgot the install harness👍🏼

    My plug coming from the vehicle is the same shape as your but different color order. I also have an extra plug for an amplifier. I'm lost as heck.

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s correct, different trim levels of the Silverado will have different color wires because they are set up differently. That’s why I always recommend using the adapter so you don’t have to cut any wires. As far as for your speakers you should be able to do a quick google search for the speaker wire colors. 👍

      @@HandsOnDismantler The problem is there are a bunch of different diagrams. Mine has the factory amp behind the glovebox and I bought all the kinds of adapters, even one that mentions factory amp interface. None work. They all connect and the shape is correct. I am going to find the amps diagram and just go from there. Wish me luck. Thank you.
      P.S: I do get sound however I connected my pink wire from the factory amp to my blue wire on my radio. but the rear speakers don't work lol.

    Where did you get the harness that plugs into the truck? And the dash kit?

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, easiest and cheapest that I have found are on ebay, they usually include the whole installation kit but sometimes you can buy just the harness. just type in your make model and year into the search bar and search for stereo installation harness.

    Nice video. I have a 03 silverado and actually just bought the same cd player before watching this. Quick question did yours have a random yellow wire coming from under the dash? I connected all the wires correctly but the black ground wire I both connected black to black then black to that random yellow wire and nothing happened both times.

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks! So are you sayin you didn’t use the installation harness? You just hardwired it in? If you use the harness adapter in the video you just connect it by color and then it’s plug and play.

      @@mattmoncton8719 dang man. I hate when people do that. What I do to fix this is I will go to a pick a part junk yard and find the same truck and cut the factory harness out of it and then rewire the car I am working on back to factory. Then plug and play. It sounds to me like they cut the wires and then they didn’t do it right and they weren’t getting correct power to the radio so they went straight to the fuse box. This isn’t uncommon. I see it a lot.

    What if the factory harness was already cut

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can hard wire it to the aftermarket radio harness. Another option is going to ur local pick a part and cutting a matching harness from another radio and color matching.

    What's the wire adapter part number

    • @HandsOnDismantler
      @HandsOnDismantler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey randy, the best thing to do to make sure you receive the correct part is to just jump on eBay and type in your make model and year into the search bar and add “dash kit” to the end. Then search for what you like, they will include the wire harness with the kit. Some year and models have different wiring configurations so it’s best to do it that way.
