Great walk around Toronto on Friday night! It looks like people are loosening up and going out to enjoy themselves. Stage 2 is looking good for Toronto!
Thanks AK! The city has made a lot of progress and it's starting to feel more and more normal again. I've been following NYC's progress on your channel and I hope things continue to open up in your great city. Cheers
Koreatown-looks so much better-than the one in Chicago-where most everyone left.Changing streetcars to Casa Loma-i stopped for an Espresso @ Korean run Espresso Bar-only in Toronto !
Great job with the narrating . Living in Vancouver now , always enjoy these videos to bring me back. Can't believe a lot of my old hangouts are gone . Sad
Amazing video of my old neighborhood. I used to live there (Ossington and Dupont area) for about 20 years in my previous life. In my present life I'm stack in North York due to having a subsidized house( and COVID) where my partner still works ( I'm presently retired). My two boys used to be life guards at Christie Pits and I used to do maintenance in a housing co-op in the area. It is very sad to see the front of The Brunswick, were I've enjoyed live music over a cold one (often more than one). The way our sense of history goes, only your videos will be all we leave to the future generations. Keep the good stuff coming amigo.
I really like the narrating... And your sense of humor.... Made me laugh.... Its really lovely. And great details.... You have a vast knowledge of your city.... That's really impressive. Thanks. Hope you had a great time with family over the weekend. And I hope you made a recording 😀
Thanks Christy! Unfortunately I didn't get around to recording anything in Niagara but I'll be back for sure this summer and will find the time to do so then :)
I'm planning to move to Toronto from Scotland when this pandemic has settled, I have been watching your videos ever since I started saving up last year and they have given me so much excitement along with realistic expectations so thanks for doing this.
Great memories JS.... Lived, at different times on St. George, Park Rd, Vic U, the Cromwell on Isabella and Ellis Ave out at Grenadier A few changes.. Younge & Bloor...whoo! We used to do Saturday brunch chippies at the James Joyce....and of course the old Bermuda Onion at the Colonnade, the Duke o' Gloucester, The Dodger,The Bamboo and the Windsor arms. Happy Canada Day.🍁🍻
Thanks Johnny! While I can shop at those places the truth is I just don't care about material goods, unless it's tech related lol We all have our vices. I buy TVs almost as often as I buy jeans (which is once a year).
@@JohnnyStrides 1) Queen St. (all areas, from west to east) 2) Bloor St, around Annex/ROM and High Park 3) Dundas St W ... Well, a special thumb up to King St. 👍
Really enjoy your walks especially the narration. I am from the KW area but love Toronto and it’s many neighbourhoods. Not to be critical but two small corrections in this video. One most people refer to south as down rather than up. I noticed you said up to Niagara. No big deal but for geographical groupies it is. Also you said Toronto is not the capital of Ontario. I am sure you meant Canada. Keep up the good work, Oh and as a funny aside. I have never got car sick watching a video before but you bike video of the Scarbourgh beaches I did. I did not know that was possible. :)
Thanks and no worries about that. I still feel a bit "on the spot" doing these and when words don't come out right you don't have the chance to go back and re-record so you just have to let them be (and sometimes don't notice until after the fact...). I did say "down to Niagara" in the video before this one lol As for the car sickness thing, I think that's just a bi-product of the helmet cam mount, I've used a different vantage point in the last few cycling videos which people seem to be enjoying more. Cheers.
Hi from Uk. Thanks for the narrated walk. I enjoy your video’s. I watch because my daughter is in Toronto for two years. Hoping to get her PR soon .was nice to see Bay Street as my daughters job is there too. At the dr Amauri Cavanar IV clinic. I also like your cycling videos too.Although I’m not a fan of city’s Toronto is quite a pleasant city as you’ve got the nice tree lined streets too.Did you know Joni Mitchell started her singing career busking in Toronto. Think she s an Artist now as painting was her first pasion really . Hope you enjoy niagra falls .😊
You're very welcome and thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoy Toronto. I've never been to the UK but I have family there and would love to go some time. I had heard that about Joni Mitchell, this city has had a surprising number of well known entertainers get their start here. Thanks again!
Hey! Thanks for another informative and real-feel video. Makes me feel like I'm in Toronto having a free guided tour which you'll do really well. One request (?) or an idea for you, why don't you do a "tutorial" of Toronto, where you show a map of Toronto and you explain very briefly different parts and areas (boroughs, you said?) of Toronto for newcomers? Cuz you seem to be very knowledgeable about your city and you have a very nice explaning skills.
Thanks Kyle! I've thought about that but I like to keep my videos as sort of one long, continuous shot from start to finish. Perhaps I can work that concept into the mix somehow but sitting down and editing isn't my strong suit!
Another beautiful narrative walk what a cool evening everyone just relaxing on their out door patio lime💞💞 I love me some cinnamon crunch I love cinnamon on the whole 🥰 in the beginning what the guy was doing by the garbage?🤷♀️ hope I get to see a little of Niagara Falls 🥰
ha I have no idea what that guy was doing. I'll have to apologize for not having a Niagara Falls video, I was just too busy (and saw family in the first time since Xmas) but I'll for sure get to one the next time I go up that way :) Thanks for watching and yes, anything cinnamon is great!
And on the roof a large jumbotron screen. Remember coming out of the Uptown Theatre on 9/11 watching scenes of the Twin Towers with the crowd gathered.

Yeah, I imagine there will be even less of your old hangouts after the fallout from the Coronavirus. Thanks for the kind words!

Southeast corner of Bloor Yonge was an optical store. A guy always was posted at the corner handing out flyers.
Thanks again Johnny - great narration. Feel that I will have to visit the Poo Cafe just for the novelty!
That's precisely it, visit for the novelty not the food lol and thanks!

Bata Shoes-was once largest shoe store in all the World !
Loved the narrated walk✅💯👍. Thank you
You're very welcome, I'll try to upload some more soon!
It's always food and sight seeing when I'm downtown. Nice to see some stuff opening back up with safety precautionary. I like the vibes in this video.
Thanks and I agree... we're moving in the right direction!
I used to live Bloor Ossington for over 6 years, I visit that area still once in a while, last time was in the winter
That's a great area IMO!
during lockdown enjoyed seeing this video thanks for uploading.
Thank you so much for your videos.
You're very welcome!
🍎 another great tour of Toronto. Interesting to see how things are opening up up there. Enjoyed the evening light as well. - H
Thanks Henry^^
Thank you so much !!!!

Thank you!
that was a nice 55 minute walk....and i'm not tired,thank you.
Thanks! I used to think of these ones as longer walks and now anything under an hour is on the shorter side lol
Really appreciate your videos. Keep us connected to the outside world. Thank you!

Strides - Don't give up on owning items from Holt's or Rosen. You'll get there. Also, Captain Crunch beats Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Excellent walk Sir.

I cannot believe how light it is for that time of the night. This looks like 5pm in our summer.
Yes, it's quite the contrast compared to winter but I'm not complaining!

100% it does, but I bet stage 3 rocks even more lol. Thanks!
Chick fil A is decent fast food but no fast food is worth standing in a line longer than 10 minutes
Agreed... perhaps I'll check it out if there's no line or more likely I'll just stroll right past it lol

Is it cheap to rent an apartment in or nearby koreatown?
Define "cheap"? But no, it is not really lol
Nothing is cheap in Toronto anymore
I really do miss the bronny it was the spot
hi bro nice place
Thanks!
Like this comment, if you think you started to know more about Toronto's area. Thank you for your efforts, Johnny.
Is the Eatery still open.
Eataly? I don't believe so...
Johnny Strides thanks
I miss Honest Ed's!
A lot of people not wearing masks.
True but outside they're not super necessary. I was just at the grocery store and I didn't see a single person without a mask.
