Thank you, Stefan, for sharing this great video and your in-flight comments regarding your decisions! As always interesting and providing me better, optimistic mood in the morning! Fly high and save!:-)
I see the snow is all melted there. I am used to them only showing the Alps during Ski season on travel documentaries. Absolutely beautiful over there!
How much G-force do you experience when circling up a thermal? (I suspect aerobatics will be cause much higher G-forces then thermaling?) And what is the max G-force loading on a typical glider?
All modern gliders (Aerobatic in brackets) must withstand a G-loading of +5.3/-2.65 (+7/-5) with a factor of safety of 1.5 [see EASA sailplane rulebook, page 84 and following]. During thermaling in a 45° bank circle (which is pretty typical) one would expierience a G-load of 1.41 (Sq.root of 2) due to circling aditionally you feel the bumps from turbulent air.
Hi Stefan, great videos as always! What sort of timeframe would you expect to transition from a 2 seater trainer club glider to a fabulous machine such as yours? Speaking as someone who could one day invest in one. Many thanks and keep up the good work 👍
Air turbulence that made the wing swing up and down a little and that vibration of the wing made the bugwiper lose connection and then behave like that.
Well would it be possible to glide over the Atlantic? I mean using clouds it might work. Of course it’s not safe at all and if you miss one thermal you’re in the middle of the ocean but theoretically it should be possible. Or not?

Ya know Stefan? ..My Instructor would always tell me Ask yourself over and over again .. , "if I lost all lift now, where would I go?" ..So, a field a road, maybe an airport // A number of times I have watched your flights and thought .. Stefan must not ask himself that question .. .. Dude! You got way bigger ones than me !!
Thats has nothing to do with ball size, i think. He is confident that he can work thermals under stress and pull off outlandings. For me it is always astonishing how high the difference of these high performance gliders to Club Class is. Second thats the minimum safty requirement your instructor told you. If you are not obeying, you put yourself in an life threatening situation.
This makes me smile and gladdens my heart to see you flying again. Continue to have good winds and safe landings Mr. Langer.
Love to see that some is living true life
Thank you; that would have been a more sensible thing for me to do. Now, I just have to convince my syndicate partners.

Stefan I really love your videos especially the one flying through the funnel cloud.amazing hands down the best.
Awesome footage, thanks for sharing. Be interested in hearing some of your technical decisions when flying around the mountains.
Looks like great development and high cloud base...nicely flown...nice to hear the vario
sing:-)

nice! great conditions. can't believe the long run on the ground to the trailer. thanks.
@5:33 That ridge view is Butter!!!
Tolles Video Stefan! Mach weiter so!
Nice Stefan, Thanks for the ride!
Very Nice. You are fortunate to be able to get out, and fly!!! I had a booking to glide from Innsbruck in April, but Corona virus stopped my fun!!
We also flew the week :-)
I was so happy to finally fly again
Wow! I think I understand why bugs on the leading edge can slow you down or change airflow over the wing, but How high an attitude do bugs fly up to?
Bugs don't fly up per se but carried up by thermals so they can get to cloud base.
@ O I see 👍
Hey Stefan, in welchem Flugzeug bist du da geflogen? Scheint mir die ASG 29 zu sein.
So cool that its just you, the wings, and nothing else
Yes, totally right, we are not allowed to fly across the border in the moment. ;-)

Ciao Stefan nice to see you can fly in all Germany without restrictions.

what do you have shown on your screen? eg: AGL altitude, heading etc.
How are those bug wipers workin' for ya?
Stefan, what is the creaking sound I hear? Is it the wing spar stubs rubbing together? Is there any way to silence it??
Stefan, is the display one of yours, or an LX of some kind? I couldn't quite make it out.
if you look on his page stefly.aero you will find that it looks like his OpenVario...
Color footage of a test flying Heinkel He-162 in the German Alps 1945 colorized and restored in 4K.
Ha ha. Talking to the glider on the ground roll - I've done that!
15:29 - 15:55 A plane or a glider?
a plane called glider ;)
What is the instrument above your variometer?
That was awesome. Love the ground roll :)
How much time you spend in air
that landing was awesome right next to trailers. too cool
Bugwipers?
Really?
I guess they make sense but how do they work?
(They're not fitted to any microlights yet ~ that I know of anyway).
Why did the bugwiper behave so weirdly?? Flying too fast?
Air turbulence that made the wing swing up and down a little and that vibration of the wing made the bugwiper lose connection and then behave like that.
Well would it be possible to glide over the Atlantic? I mean using clouds it might work. Of course it’s not safe at all and if you miss one thermal you’re in the middle of the ocean but theoretically it should be possible. Or not?
There is basically no lift above water. You need stuff to heat up for thermals to form. The ocean is simply gobbling the heat up
Yes.
The closest project to achieve this would be perlanproject.org/ designed to use the jetstreams.

How much time it take you to do this
@Elias Dolinsek thanks for the help
I am flying in Belgium. Unfortunately this country is very small :(
nice video, does this plane has a manual brake?

Is this an ASG 29?
Yes an asg-29
Can you please tell me its price in us dollars
Flying is just amazing :)
Stefan, how do you modify McCready settings when flying under the cloud street ? Do you look at it and adjust it somehow ? Thanks.
3:40 a paraglider would love that :)
Awesome!
what this grider?

That's ASG-29. He can land tomorrow if he wants.
Looks like it too slow what's its maximum speed
I think it's an ASG 29, so 270kph.
What's your location
Can you tell me this glider price in dollars
in europe, you can get a good ASG29 for around 100000€ used, im guessing its around the same for the us market
Yes, yes we are.
You know how to live.
You should put a Insta 360 camera on top of it than it will look good
my dream is to fly a glider
