The teacher story is a prime example of, "documentation will save your butt." She had every failure documented for 3 months proving child did not do the work. It didn't matter what the child said.
I had almost the same meeting with a mom over 60 years ago when I was a teacher. The mom was complaining that daughter had too much homework to help with dishes or any other housework. I explained that I give at least half of the class for homework in order for me to help if a student needed help. Mom had no more complaints. (Smile)
@@freethebirds3578 no, not even, he should have done the opposite! I can imagine his giant self in a calm flat voice with a dead eye stare, 'please come back again soon.' Without ever blinking. The family probably wont even sleep that night!
The only way it could have been sweeter would be if he was holding a comically large and dangerous looking kitchen utensil such as a cleaver or a rolling pin whilst he did it. No, wait, sprinkle in a few typical "Butch Guy" tattoos such as "I luv Mum" and then it's perfect!
I had a manager like Jo, called Carol. I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to a lot of different things (the curse of being ginger, super sensitive and fair skin, rip), and the cleaning chemicals at BK were some of them, and despite me telling Carol this over and over and how I needed proper protective gear, she didn’t care. So I got a lot of allergic reactions despite taking a lot of meds. My arms would balloon and start weeping, my throat would swell up and I’d have to go to the hospital. The hospital would sign me off work for a week but she’d demand I come in, so I’d come in with my face swollen, neck swollen, arms swollen, and all of these areas weeping, and cheerfully tell her I was ready for my shift, and make sure it was loud enough customers could hear. “Sarah, why are you here? You’re not well enough to work” “Because you told me you’d fire me if I didn’t come in, because you accused me of faking it, I have your texts if you forgot…” She would always demand a sick note, get one, be texted photos of my allergic reactions, and then ignore all evidence, she’d just outright ignore the sick notes which I’d photograph and text her and photocopy and give her a copy, and ignore all photographs, I’ve no idea why, all she had to do was give me proper protective wear when dealing with cleaning chemicals I was allergic to OR get another employee, it was such an easy fix!!! One Christmas period it was particularly bad and she actually fired me, which was very illegal, and tried to stop me accessing government unemployment, and because she’s stupid I was able to prove to the DWP (department of work and pensions, Scotland) that not only was she lying, but she’d done this before and fired me because of repeated allergic reactions which she knew about, and refused to equip me properly. BK had to pay me a few months severance wage, I got unemployment, and she got “reassigned” to another BK, which she later got fired from for the exact same behaviour. Stupidly BK gave her another chance and she proved that she was just utterly awful, and she absolutely deserved it. What’s sad is this was around 2009 and restaurants still haven’t learned and continue to push staff when they’re not well for work.
I have had a somewhat similar experience in Canada during my first job. Not due to allergies, but I would be sent home day after day cause of my body swelling (despite acnee being ok) and I asked to be crosstrsined to the back (kitchen) so I could actually spend a full shift there. The owners were selling, so they said no, then the new owners started herassing me out of work (I believe encouraging the others to do it as well) because I hadn't been fully trained, and still refused to start me over in the back.
Umm... why didn't you press criminal charges against her for willful endangerment and cause of bodily harm in addition to the civil suit against BK? Industrial cleaning chemicals like that has very specific protective gear for *everyone* that uses them regardless of preexisting allergies.
Loved the last story: the “I’m waiting to snap one of you in half stare,” along with “do you feel lucky?” Or better yet, “I eat punks like you for breakfast and to come to think of it, I haven’t ate at all yet today!”

Years ago, I was with my brother when he was attempting to transfer money between two accounts. Despite having all of the necessary ID, including photographic, the teller was unhappy with his signature. There was a stalemate until my brother pointed out that the specimen signature they had was from when he had a right arm that, due to an RTA, he'd had amputated 7 years previously!!
Hi, just a quick note to let you know that your comment/story was stolen by another commenter and hour after you posted. Called ...Z. Yeah, just a single letter. It's so disgusting to see these attention seeking trash trying to get likes!
I worked with a guy who was 6'7" of almost pure muscle. We were auto mechanics. He could pick me up (5'8,150lb) AND another guy (6', 170 lb) each in one arm, and carry us over and stuff us in trash cans, with us little guys fighting as hard as we could. And this was in fun! I saw him really angry one time, he was going to throw a class 3 trailer hitch receiver across the shop. Luckily, we were able to talk him out of it- no telling what kind of damage that would do. He could also pull a car battery out of the car with one hand. Except for that one time, he really was a gentle giant.
"Is there an issue I can fix..?" I bet every single person on the table instantly shut up because they interpreted "fix" as "drag you out the back and kick the living shit out of you"! 😂
My mum used to work for a bank and had a customer come in to complain the hologram on the card didn’t look like him. She had to explain that the hologram was of William Shakespeare, not him, and that all the credit cards issued by that bank had the same hologram.
Story 1: The manager was LYING. The company may not "let" him do it but it is still LEGAL to charge the card. What if there wasn't a picture on it? Refuse payment = Free Meal! Story 2: Manager: You've had long enough" Me: "When did you get your Doctor's degree in Medicine?" Demanding OP to show up while still infectious was a serious health code violation. Story 3: Teacher: When your kid is the only one failing...I am not the problem. Entitled Mother...Entitled Kid...a bad combination. Story 5: OP's brother is AWESOME! Great looking out for his waitress :)
RE Story 2: Poison Ivy is not an infectious disease. A poison ivy rash is caused by an allergic reaction to a substance found on the leaves of the poison ivy plant.
Restaurant has the right to prefer a method of payment. Do you just steal things when a gas station says cash only? Cop was totally out of line and even abusing his power because in that moment he assumed his mere appearance as a cop was an override for personal identification.
@@TheCarpenterUnion The two things are not the same. The restaurant refused a valid form of payment even when they had verification of the card holder's identity. There was nothing that OP could do since it was his card & they refused the payment when offered. As far as the gas station hypothetical you gave...if the gas had already been pumped and they refused payment with a legal method the same thing would apply. However if the station notified the customers that cash payment was all that was accepted BEFORE the customer pumped the gas then the customer would be at fault and liable.
That is a beast of a man, had the pleasure of working with such a man many many years ago during my very brief time in food service. Guy was only about 6 foot 6 or so, but weighed at least 500, was the nicest guy you ever met, and honestly an awesome cook/manager. He'd crack jokes all shift, let us take food home instead of wasting it, etc. But man if you pissed this guy off he had a bellowing voice and cadence that could stop just about anyone in their tracks. And he made it clear to the servers, when hes on shift, if you have any problems, and he didn't care how small, with a customer they come get him. Usually just the sight of this guy coming towards them was enough to make them apologize, but the best part was, if they were abusive, that wasn't good enough for him. He would literally say to them after their half assed apology, yeah that's great, now tell her the real reason you are being such an ass to her! Hes gotten into body building and lost a lot of weight since then, but hes still the same awesome guy.
So a mate of mine is currently in school to be a Chef and i found this story really intersting as i can see him doing this. He's only 6'4 but he 370lbs of pure mussle (played Football in HS) and loves to pick on bullys.
He sounds like an awesome guy all the way. The way you described him instantly put an image of a sumo wrestler in my mind. Contrary to media portrayal, those dudes are crazy strong and know how to use their size and strength really well.
As a science teacher I had the very same issue with several students. Documentation of EVERYTHING makes a difference in those demanded conferences. The parents alll end up looking like asses and they lose credibility in front of deans and principals.
I told my kids their homework was their responsibility. if they didn't do it and failed, it was on them, and the only future they'd be ruining was their own One funny story I have from school has to do with a test. Started when the teacher told each one of her classes she'd be giving us all a test the following day. our test was going to be one of the 3 she had. Also, important to mention was, this test was supposed to be, write our thoughts on it, or as the teacher said, "in your own words:. My class was the second one of the day, and since I hated it, I came up with what I thought was a great idea. go home, study and write one in advance. this way, if I was lucky enough, I'd get that one the following day, then all I had to do was doodle and at the end give the one I had written the night before. Day of the test came, and the first class (830) didn't get the sonnet I had studied, so I was happy, my odds were now at 50%. and 5 minutes later the odds crashed to 0&. I happened to be friends with a kid who was going to the 1030 class, and mentioned my paper, and ended up giving it to him AFTER reminding him he had to copy it so the teacher wouldn't recognize my handwriting. he said he would. Fast forward to us getting our tests back. I got a C, he got a basically an F- and the teacher wrote, "where have I read this before" written on the side of his paper. Got me confused since I knew she hadn't seen my paper. which, as it turned out she didn't. but as my teacher explained to my class the following day, this kid had a hard time understanding, "in your own words", and after writing it, he passed it along to a friend, who also copied it word for word, and then passed it along to another mental midget who did the same. in the end my teacher ended up with 14 copies of my test. Teacher was laughing when she told us the story. Good thing she never found out I wrote the original or I'd be Number 15 lol
And, with any luck, missed her flight and had to wait hours for the next flight. But, of course, as OP says, there'll be a zero to one star review that says "IF THE DRIVER HAD TAKEN ROAD B, AS I TOLD HIM TO, I WOULDN'T HAVE MISSED MY FLIGHT! TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! WILL NOT USE UBER AGAIN UNTIL I HAVE NOTIFICATION THEY HAVE BEEN FIRED!"
Story 3: Karen; It can't be my precious angel's fault, it haaaaas to be someone else, I blame the Teacher, I blame the Principal, heck I even blame the totally unrelated Lunch Lady!! OP: Karen, have you considered NOT blaming other people and actually take responsibility for your daughter's consequences?.. Karen: *Surprised Pikachu Face* *Gasp* How dare you?!

My mom's a teacher. I think it's more a government problem than a society problem really. With both the nursing and teaching fields it all comes back to pay. I mean maybe it's just a circle that I run in but everyone I know agrees that nurses and teachers are underpaid and overworked.
Every single time I had called in sick, when working in food service, I was told I had to come in, anyway. This was maybe 2-3 times over 3 years. One time was opening and the manager helped me a bit with getting started. About 5 minutes after that, he looked at me and said "I helped you, why aren't you feeling any better?" I looked at him dead in the eyes and said "because I'm still sick", and he just ignored me the rest of the day.
Next time they pull that shit, call the Local Heath Inspector and tell them that you've called out sick because you have and your restaurant Manager is demanding you come in anyway, you'll be arriving around to work your FOOD HANDLING JOB while sick... I'm sure the Inspector will be showing up for a surprise inspection soon after you do and will have SEVERAL unpleasant things to say to Manager... I was in Kentucky working one year and stopped at a cracker barrel to have dinner and the waitress serving me was wonderful. Here comes an older man with his adult son and girlfriend who started hassling the waitress. I walked in the back and asked for the waitresses apron and pad and walked back to the room to take their order. Needless to say I was waiting on any smart ass remark. I took their order and gave them the bill. When it was all said and done, they left and I had to reorder my meal. The whole time i was serving my nametag said "Beth".
That last story kinda reminds me of a story my husband told me about one of his old rig hands.... They were sitting at a bar having a few drinks when some dude tried to start something with my husband's hand... This guy is a 6 foot 8 ex football player... Story 1: I have heard this happen especially with men who shave off their glorious beards... But I do hope the waitress wasn't charged for what I am sure the manager called a "dine and dash"
If she was, I hope she made a Wage Dispute Complaint to the State Labor Department, as far as I know, It's Illegal in ALL States & Territories of the USA to do that just as it's Illegal to do it in Canada...
@@HappilyHomicidalHooligan i is illegal, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. restraraunt owners write itup as other something else, say a theft, and give you the "opportunity" to pay for it and not have it go on your record. and get fired for it. so when you go for ANY other job the theft report will follow you. filing a w wage dispute with the state labor dept. is all fine and dandy. but you have to be able to PROVE it happened. what proof will you have? will anyone stand up with you against them? or will they be afraid of losing their jobs? they will have documentation that you "stole" from them, not that it was a "dine and dash" you will be in the wrong. and you will lose. wake up and smell the coffee, the world is not fair and just, it's all about who has the proof real or not real. and technically it is real, because as a server it is our responsibiliy o make sure they don't dine & dash and pay their bill.

@@HappilyHomicidalHooligan they have proved your a thief. the second they wrote you up for it. and when you get written up for somehing you sign it bc on it it states that, "by signing this you are not agreeing or disagreeing with the statement but that you have received the this formal written disciplanary action" But that is a form of proof that you have been disciplined for theft. and even if you refuse to sign it, it won't matter bc most likely they will document that as well. it's called covering your ass.
I'm pretty sure that it's the signature that is important on a credit card, rather than the picture. However, a picture that appears not to match depends more on the perception of the person checking the card because a beard, weight gain/loss, etc probably won't fool a facial recognition program or a perceptive clerk. Are there some facial recognition experts out there who can clarify?

That last story is hilarious. I was an only child, but when my parents remarried after divorcing, I got 4 stepbrothers, two older, two younger. Well, the youngest one was the largest one at 6'4" and 250lbs of muscle, and he and I always referred to one another as brother and sister. He worked at a restaurant in the kitchen. One night my husband and I went there for our yearly anniversary / my birthday dinner [both within a few weeks after Christmas]. I saw him and yelled, "HI MIKE!" He ran out and gave me a quick hug and shook my husband's hand and then ran back to the kitchen. Now... I'm only 4'11" and at the time, about 130 lbs... so not very big or tall. When the waitress approached the table, she asked, "How do you know Mike"? I said, "He's my brother." Apparently, she didn't believe me and went and asked him [he told me about it later]. He replied, "She's my sister." LOL. I miss him. He passed almost exactly a year ago. :_( Like in that story, my "little, big" brother was a gentle giant. He wouldn't hurt a fly, but he sure was intimidating to view and he didn't have to do anything for people to listen even though he was soft-spoken.
Both of my brothers are just over 6 foot and I reached 6 foot and then promptly shrunk. Because of how we were raised (single mom, moving a lot and not in the best areas while also taking public transportation everywhere) My brothers learned to use their height early on in life. We all did. Whether that meant helping someone get something off a tall shelf (short grandma plus tall grandkids equals we do this completely automatically) or looking intimidating to help someone who looks like they are in distress. I've been told that if I stand on a rock after dusk near trees I look like a bear. I'm also fiercely protective of smaller people. Most of my friends are tiny little stick things which is something I find hilarious because literally everyone has been shorter than me most of my life so of course I look intimidating if I don't smile a certain way. I also have the "mom/grandma stare/look" down pat and it freaks people out because I am such a sweet caring person. Lol
If my server was covered in sores or looked deathly ill, I would walk out on my bill and immediately call the health department. I’m not paying you to get me sick, upper management!
I get the feeling the manager in the 1st story just didn't want to admit they were wrong. Even when the police confirmed OP's identity and said it plain out to them he's trying to pay but they're refusing him. Instead of admitting her mistake she just glared out the window
Of course she glared at OP, by not accepting payment, her Receipts for the night are going to be out of balance and Corporate HATES unbalanced Receipts like the Plague... Enough nights that don't balance and she'll be demoted or Fired...
You know that cop was wrong using his badge and office like that, if the card thing happened to anyone else do you think they could have just walked out, how many of these stories copstell patrons the same thing. It doesn't look like you, so you had better figure out a way or your going to jail, andif you asked to call someone to vouch for you, they would laugh and say only if they paying the check, it's messed up
I'm an Uber Driver too, and I'm really glad I drive at night instead of the daytime. It seems to me that during the day, not only is there more traffic, but more of a chance of people in a hurry and being rude and stupid. Contrast that to night time when there's less traffic, but drunk people aren't rude and stupid. They're fun and stupid. Which makes for a very entertaining ride. I've lost track of the number of sing-alongs I've had. If, however, I had a situation like in the story, I'd like to think I would have handled it like this: "As you can see, we are in a traffic jam and you're going to miss your flight. I knew that there was a traffic jam here and that route B was clear, but instead of listening to me, you violated the terms and agreement of Uber's Community guidelines and harassed me, insulted me, called me vulgar names, and I'm pretty sure you're going to give me a 1 rating for something that isn't my fault." "Now I have a 4.98 rating, so your little 1 rating will bring me down to a 4.97 so that isn't a threat. On the other hand, your behavior has not only earned you a 1 rating, but I can report you to Uber for using offensive language. I have all of this recorded on dash cam so I can prove it, and you will be lucky you're not banned from using Uber because of this incident." "That is, unless you apologize, and admit that I did my best to help you but you shut me down. I also want to see you give me a rating that I deserve. If you do all of that, I will give you a "3" instead of a "1" and I will not report you to Uber and you will not risk being banned. What do you think of my proposal?"
I had a similar experience as the first story. My brother was home on leave from the navy, and had 3 months pay in his pocket. I'd just sold a car, and had my week's pay in my pocket as well. We stopped at a gas station and filled up. It cost $23 bucks (yeah, a while ago!) We went to pay, and found out that we only had like $16 in small bills between us, everything else we had was in 100s. Cashier would not take a hundred, and refused o let one of us stay while the other went to get change at local 24 hour grocery chain. She called her manager, who said he'd be there in 15 minutes to open the safe and make change. An hour later, we're still there waiting for him to show, just another phone call saying that if we didn't pay, call the cops. So she did. Cops showed up responding to an 'attempted theft', and asked us what was up. We pointed at the $100 bill sitting on the counter, and explained that we were trying to pay, but she wouldn't accept our money, the officer asked the cashier what was up, and she said the same thing. She wouldn't take the money because she didn't have enough cash in the till (she'd made 3 $50 drops while we were there) The officer went outside, talked on his radio for a few moments, walked back inside and told us we were free to go. Cashier went nuts, called her manager, who said he'd be right there to open the safe and make change for us. Don't know if it was him, but while we were in the parking lot talking with the officer, a car came screeching into to the station, and a man jumped out and ran into the station. That's when the officer said, "I think this is when we should leave".
You know if the last story was a comedy movie, I could just imagine the staredown at the guy going something like this: Brother: *stares* Guy: *Squirms in seat* Brother: "You've got a pretty mouth..." Guy: *Dies from shock* And no, I'm not sorry
My brother is 6'7", and he gets to stare down people. He acts like a big teddy bear because he knows he can lurk. But if you ever wrong someone in front of him....whoa.
I had the situation in the first story happening to me...at an airport. I lost 30kg, and my passport expired meanwhile. As I had a travel to do abroad to a different country in Africa ( which I have nationality there also, but don't have that country passport, I needed my portuguese passport to be allowed back in Portugal on my way back ). At the state services when getting a new passport, the lady just said "oh, we have all your data in the system, so I'll just click apply and it's done". I alerted her that I don't look the same, my face is round in the passport picture, and I'm skinny now. It would only take her a couple of minutes for the system machine to make a new picture of me, but she refused. When returning to Portugal, the border police woman looked at the passport picture, looked at me, did that same thing 3 or 4 times, and told me "this is not you". I explained my weight loss. She insisted that wasn't me. She got up and went to get a supervisor. We stood there about 15 minutes, both of them looking at the passport and looking at me, and insisting that the passport wasn't mine and threatening me with jail because it was a crime. Lucky for me, the director of the airport was passing by and noticed something was happening. It happens that he is friends with some of my family that live in that country, and he recognized me. He confirmed it was me, and, reluctantly, the border police people let me go through.
About 45 years ago (OMG, has it really been that long ago???), I was working as a server in a local diner. Most of our customers were really nice and fun, as were the kitchen staff and other servers, and the tips were great. My usual station was the counter and I had a favorite nightly regular who was a gorgeous muscle-bound Italian bouncer who worked for a local nightclub; he had a scary persona but was actually a total sweetheart. There was also a rumor, that he never confirmed or denied for obvious reasons, that he moonlighted as a hit man for the mob (long story on how that rumor got started). He was VERY respectful and protective over all of us who worked there. Let's call him Michael Corleone (or MC, for short). One evening I had an obnoxious customer on the counter who was being very loud, very rude and was harassing me verbally (while insinuating the gross ways in which he wanted to continue the harassment physically). Our manager was totally useless about this kind of thing, FYI and spent most of his shifts hiding in the office. MC quietly got up from his seat, sauntered over to Mr. Obnoxious (MO, for short), sat down next to him, casually put his arm around the guy's shoulder as if he were an old friend, and pulled him in close for a quiet "chat" that I couldn't hear. Then MC turned around (facing away from MO), winked at me and went back to his seat. MO looked pale as a ghost, quickly finished his meal, and left me a $5 tip on a $2 meal and rushed out of the diner. I never found out what MC said and I also never saw MO again. Yes, not all heroes wear capes :-)
I had worked for a restaurant for two years and called in sick one time. It was probably the most bizarre call out the restaurant had ever received. I stayed the night at a friend's house so they picked me up from my last shift and took me to their house. I woke up feeling lousy and my friend was very nurturing. So once she took my temperature and saw I had a light fever, she refused to take me to work. So I had to call in and say my friend wouldn't let me leave. That was three months into my career. Two years later, I woke up with a borderline flu. I felt like death. As soon as I was conscious enough to grab my phone, I posted on our job board to ask someone to get my shift and texted my manager to explain. He said keep trying but if I can't get anyone I needed to come in. It was a Friday, so they couldn't afford to be short staffed. This manager is also one of my favorite bosses. Great guy who always looked out for the employees that worked hard. I said, okay. Two hours before my shift, no one's taken it. So I told him I still felt lousy, but no one could take my shift so he said he needed me to come in. Again, I liked this manager and knew he wasn't just being a jerk so I went in. I walked in the door and he and another manager came in and said they were talking about it and it occurred them they didn't remember me ever calling in sick and I was there all the time, so if I called in sick, I must be dying and sent me home on the spot.
Story 1: I used to bank where they had my picture on my debit card. Someone stole it and managed to use it to the tune of a couple hundred or more. We later found out who did it. They looked NOTHING like me.
The ONLY time I ever got upset with one of my kids teachers was when I was emailing, sending hand written notes, requesting information that was NOT available on the parent portal and never received a response, but then in a P/T conference, the teacher tells me that my son is a bad kid and doesn't do what he should be doing. When I called her on the fact that I had sent emails and notes requesting information, she stammered and said, "I don't check my emails daily." I asked about the handwritten notes [my son had already told me that he watched her throw them away without reading them]. She tried claiming that she never received them... until one of the other students that had been standing outside with her mom [whom I know] sticks her head in and says, "I've seen C give them to you and you just throw them away." She had nothing to say after that. I simply stated that if she planned on remaining a teacher, that she should follow up with those requesting information. I also said, "I don't appreciate that I request info and you ignore my requests and then in a conference, tell me that I have a bad son and that I need to be more involved. This is not a me problem. This is a you problem." I never received complaints after that, but I DID finally receive info when I requested it.
With the last story, I just cant stop imagining the brother like a baker with a big stomach. You know, like in a cartoon or a very old movie. And just used his stomach to bump push the family out of the restaurant while saying "Get out of my restaurant! Out! Out! Out!"
Oh and maybe its cause I was born in 1984. But when I and my siblings went to school. It wasn't the teachers fault. It was ours. We were accountable for our grades. Donno why things have changed.
The entitled 70ies generation has grown up and procreated and so has our own generation who saw how easy it was for our older sibblings to find jobs and build a career only to find that in order for us to just get a foot in, we had to bully or luck our way to an income and thus some of us turn über-karen to ensure our offspring gets it easier than we had.
Can relate to story two. I had sprained my ankle, the right foot for the accelerater pedal. Had a doctors note, at least 10 days off. Had a couple of walk outs because the boss is a prick and was told to come in. As this is a driving job and i couldn't drive dad drove me to work in my SUV. I hopped into the office with my crutches and cast ankle. Sometimes malicious compliance is all that is needed
I started laughing at the last story of the big guy coming out and the table immediately back pedals, if would've been even funnier if he picked the guy up that may the girl cry like a misbehaving child and made him apologize to the girl.
With the last story I was laughing so hard at the thought of a giant going to the table and all I could picture in my head was André the Giant walking to table and asking if there was a problem. If your too young to remember who André the Giant was just google his name and you will also see pictures of him. He stood 7' 4" and was 520 lbs.
These types of parents are a disgrace. They’re raising people who will have zero skills regarding problem solving, self sufficiency, critical thinking skills, etc.
Most people think poison ivy/oak/sumac are just an uncomfortable rash, but it can be very serious for some people. Sounds like OP had a somewhat worse case because it covered a lot of their body.
2 stories. 1st coworker called in sick one weekend. He then went to a rodeo. How do we know that he was at a rodeo that weekend? Facebook and a manager that had gone to that rodeo. Coworker had posted pics on Facebook and a manager that had that weekend off had seen him. 2nd was a pregnant coworker (I had 2 other very hardworking coworkers that when they were pregnant were always on the move up until the day before they gave birth. This one was lazy even before she was pregnant and kept using it as an excuse). She kept asking for every single weekend off for just wanting it off (because she was pregnant. However, when we didn’t work weekends, we got weekdays off.). Our scheduling manager denied her for a weekend because of her always asking. Her request was because her family had decided to host a baby shower that weekend. So, she got a doctor’s note that said that she needed to take it easy and stay home. She probably could have gotten away with going to her shower if she hadn’t had brought in the cake, the plates, and the napkins from her shower. She was put on “Call If Needed” leave. My coworkers that had been pregnant while working were offended by this gal’s attitude and her audacity.
Last story reminded me of a guy my dad used to work with. Both were police officers. My dad is average height but his partner was like Shaquille O’Neal size. He was a giant to me when I was a kid, but he was so mild mannered. They have some funny stories from when they used to work patrol together.
I had an allergic reaction to a bee sting on my hand. I called in to work and went to Dr. for treatment. Boss called me and said I needed to come in right away. I worked in a dental clinic. I walked into his office and held up my hand. It looked like a latex glove that had been blown up like a balloon. He let me go home.
I was on the other side of the parent/teacher thing. Teacher said my son wasn't doing his work. I suggested the teacher verify it is written down in my son's notebook. I will sign off the assignment every night. The teacher agreed in the meeting then never followed through. I asked every day. The teacher said it wasn't her job to do the thing we agreed to.
Love the story about giant brother! I was in the restaurant/bar business almost 4 decades and I'd have loved to have had him around when I was young and first started out! Awesome!!! That place should a hero plaque of him upon the wall! One of my fave stories yet!
First story: It is on him to have a valid means of paying; if you eat, and then find out you don’t have a method of payment (you didn’t realize your card was overlimit, say), you need to work something out with the business, moderated by law personnel if need be. That said, having a police officer vouch for the person’s identity should be sufficient to resolve the issue, as the identity was all that was in question. It would make total sense if the manager needed a signed statement from the officer, so they have proof if the card issuer or the corporate bosses come asking, but then the matter of valid payment should be resolved.
Parents are the worst part of teaching. Parents seem to always think their kids are angels and believe everything they say despite evidence to the contrary. It is often also the 'undisciplined' kids who treat everyone like crap, do no work but apparently they never lie and they are angels so it is everyone else who bullies them, them not doing work well it's everyone else's fault. Being a teacher means you often spend your day unteaching what parents have taught them and teaching them common courtesy and manners.
I can honestly say that this is MOSTLY true. My son's first grade teacher was really a nice lady and I KNEW my son could really push buttons sometimes. In our first P/T conference her first words were, "[son's name] is charming," and then I replied with (while smiling), "BUT...." because I knew there was so much more, but she was really trying to be nice. She just repeated herself, so I replied with, "But... sometimes he pushes your buttons to the point you want to take that cute little face and slap the crap out of him..." She said, "Oh my God... I didn't want to say anything, because I just thought maybe it was just me. I know I've been stressed lately and thought maybe my stress caused me to be extra frustrated." I said, "Nope. He's not perfect and I know it. Just tell me what I need to do to help." She was very relieved after that and she would contact me when something new popped up. I suggested that she move him next to or closer to her desk. She did and that helped A LOT. I KNOW my kids aren't perfect and never claimed them to be "little angels." Maybe that's why I usually receive compliments regarding their behavior now. ; )
The guy in the first story... like, did the cashier think of asking for an ID? Maybe it woulda just been a larger picture of fat him, but this is just a weird way for the store to act. I was highly in favor of picture on credit cards, but since it's all the self-service stuff now, the cashiers and such never see the card anyway.
Story 1. Since when are there owner’s pictures on credit cards? Story 2. There are OSHA laws and Labor Laws to which Bossman should’ve been reported if OP felt like going nuclear. Story 5 was quite simply hilarious!!😂
Currently at my job we have someone who called out claiming two different reasons, was gone for 2 weeks, ignored calls from us to see if she was okay or how long did she think she was going to be gone still, was told by her that she never went to a doctor the entire two weeks but had miraculously had a note to excuse her. Needless to say we are all pissed
That 3rd story is at least part of why they're putting cameras and mics in all the classrooms within the next 10 years or so. 99 times out of a 100 it will protect the teacher...just a guess and probably an exaggeration but I don't think by much.
Story 2 I would have started to record the conversation and confirmed with him what he said. Then I'd have told him to go ahead and fire me for not coming in and then sue the crap out of him for wrongful termination. Even in a "right to work" state like I'm in, if your employer gives a reason, you can sue for wrongful termination.
The only time my parents yelled at a teacher was they threatened to punish me for something I didn't do and they had no proof I ever did. To make it even better it was a special Ed teacher/girl's basketball and volleyball coach yelling at me for something else that wasn't related to special Ed or sports. Also I'm a male and had never interacted with her before.
A old high school friend told us about one of her cousins who ended up with poison ivy on her crotch after using it to wipe herself after taking a pee on a camping trip in the woods. She was completely miserable for quite a while.
Employers don’t care, I had gotten hurt working at the mart of stalls. They forced me to come work despite being injured and restricted by my doctor. Last story was truly satisfying
My husband is tall but not that tall! He is 6'6" and he can look quite intimidating but he is a gentle giant and a major goofball with our two 14 lbs dogs. 🤣 But if someone messed with any of us he would be a force to be reckoned with. He spent 20 yrs in the Navy and takes no bullshit.
For story 3, I've had some new coworkers who didn't really believe that I was the 2IC or 'unit sergeant' (for lack of better terms) of my line. Instead going towards the older coworkers (a few almost old enough to be my grandparents) for questions, and getting "Ask [Attacker], he's the one who would know/who can explain it better/he would be the one who can make that call." as an answer more than half the time. On the other hand, my approach to things leaves little doubt after a week or so in action. Sitting at a desk all night, while my people work just isn't for me.
Of all the people I feel bad for the waitress in Story 1. All she was doing was following protocol, and when her idiot boss decided to not go through with the payment, not only did the restaurant not get paid, but we don't hear anything about her getting any tip, and tips are the lifeblood of waitstaff wages, as most restaurants don't pay a good wage + tips.
I don't think I've ever heard of a credit card having your picture on it unless it's a custom card and you happened to choose a picture of yourself as the decoration on the card...
One of the more prestigious credit cards did it briefly and marketed it as a more “secured card” (preventing identity theft) but it didn’t stay long before it was dropped. This was years ago.
That last one with the big brother chef was the greatest story I've ever heard after being in the food industry for around 15 yrs I would've loved to have someone like that working with me. That would've been great!!
I had a toxic manager that was so rude that she actually wrote me up 4 times and I turned in a “Resignation Notice”, now if I had stated that she wrote me up 4 times(2 times for my hygiene and 2 times for my hair), that would have been a multiple red flag for her and not me.

(Smile)
Didn't matter what Mommy Karen said, either!

The last story was pure delight. A 7 foot tall 300 pound giant asking an entitled family “what’s the problem “ is too funny to imagine.
Heh, I can only imagine. And I love the mental image.
When the party leaves, he should show them out and say "Don't come back, hear?"
I just imagine him carrying a big cheif knife over his shoulder as he stares at them. I know op did not mention it but I would like to think so lol
You’re not well enough to work”
“Because you told me you’d fire me if I didn’t come in, because you accused me of faking it, I have your texts if you forgot…”
She would always demand a sick note, get one, be texted photos of my allergic reactions, and then ignore all evidence, she’d just outright ignore the sick notes which I’d photograph and text her and photocopy and give her a copy, and ignore all photographs, I’ve no idea why, all she had to do was give me proper protective wear when dealing with cleaning chemicals I was allergic to OR get another employee, it was such an easy fix!!!
Sometimes lawyers are very useful . . . in situations like this.
Yikes 😬

I bet every single person on the table instantly shut up because they interpreted "fix" as "drag you out the back and kick the living shit out of you"! 😂

Restaurant has the right to prefer a method of payment. Do you just steal things when a gas station says cash only?
Cop was totally out of line and even abusing his power because in that moment he assumed his mere appearance as a cop was an override for personal identification.
@@TheCarpenterUnion
The two things are not the same.
Sounds like a swell guy to work under! That's a leader there, not just a boss. I wish him all the success in life.

One funny story I have from school has to do with a test.
Rhonda played herself. Not only did her trip take longer & make her late. She probably ended up paying more lol
And, with any luck, missed her flight and had to wait hours for the next flight.

I took their order and gave them the bill. When it was all said and done, they left and I had to reorder my meal. The whole time i was serving my nametag said "Beth".
Nice. If I ever make a move, THAT scene should be in it.
Good one, David!
That last story kinda reminds me of a story my husband told me about one of his old rig hands....
They were sitting at a bar having a few drinks when some dude tried to start something with my husband's hand... This guy is a 6 foot 8 ex football player...
The little dude told him to sit down and STFU & big guy stood up & told him that he had been sitting down, did he want to take it outside...
Little dude shrunk down even smaller....😂
I, on the other hand, had no problem screaming in big guy's face... Family.... What are ya gonna do 🙄😂
That little dude has short man syndrome.
@@marytramp5678 It's the Managers responsibility to Prove that you're the Thief, not your responsibility to Prove you're Innocent because how exactly DO you Prove something you didn't do? The Department of Labor knows that and if the management/DoL pushes for you to Prove your Innocence in Violation of the Rules/Regs. and Laws, then YOU call the Police and demand an Investigation into the Alleged Theft...It's also around that time you call a Lawyer and start Suing the Unholy Howling HELL out of both the Manager AND the DoL Representative that tried to Railroad you...
Years ago I had a factory job. There was a couple ladies one day who called into work sick. When they came back to work they were called in the boss's office. She asked them so you were sick on this particular day? They replied, yes we were feeling really bad we were in bed all day. The boss stated oh really? When I saw you at bingo that day, you looked like you were having a really good time being sick you're fired get out!
@@HappilyHomicidalHooligan lol, karma is good
You know that cop was wrong using his badge and office like that, if the card thing happened to anyone else do you think they could have just walked out, how many of these stories copstell patrons the same thing.
If, however, I had a situation like in the story, I'd like to think I would have handled it like this:
"As you can see, we are in a traffic jam and you're going to miss your flight. I knew that there was a traffic jam here and that route B was clear, but instead of listening to me, you violated the terms and agreement of Uber's Community guidelines and harassed me, insulted me, called me vulgar names, and I'm pretty sure you're going to give me a 1 rating for something that isn't my fault."
"Now I have a 4.98 rating, so your little 1 rating will bring me down to a 4.97 so that isn't a threat. On the other hand, your behavior has not only earned you a 1 rating, but I can report you to Uber for using offensive language. I have all of this recorded on dash cam so I can prove it, and you will be lucky you're not banned from using Uber because of this incident."
"That is, unless you apologize, and admit that I did my best to help you but you shut me down.
You know if the last story was a comedy movie, I could just imagine the staredown at the guy going something like this:
Brother: *stares*
Guy: *Squirms in seat*
Brother: "You've got a pretty mouth..."
Guy: *Dies from shock*
And no, I'm not sorry
Hahahaha!! 😂😭😂😭😂😭😂😭🤣😭🤣😭
OMG 🤣😂🤣😂😆🤣😂 LMAO!!!
My brother is 6'7", and he gets to stare down people. He acts like a big teddy bear because he knows he can lurk. But if you ever wrong someone in front of him....whoa.
OMG! Bwahaha...you are a genius and the hero of all people who work a service job! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Uber story: My campus minister in college had this posted in her office: "Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."
anyone else enjoy getting home from school, turning on Darkfluff, and just chilling?
That last story was so awesome!!! Didn’t expect justice to be so sweet!!
The last story had me roaring with laughter. The mental image of the puny Dad towered over by this CHAD
Loved them!!!! The “giant” chef is wonderful for taking care of his staff.
I was on my way home searching for dark fluff uploads. Got home and saw this gem posted now I’m in the driveway until the stories are over
Oh my goodness! I think I'm in love with that chef in the last story! Just stand there and dare them to say anything or try a dine and dash! 😍😂
DarkFluff and Stevo's written commentary is a daily necessity ♡
That last story, was so AWESOME! I wish him well and all the success in his life.
I could only imagine that Shaq sized guy just standing over them like that lol
That end story is hilarious!! Bet he won't demand to see "the manager" again :)
For story 1 I want the weed the manager and the employee is smoking cause that weed must be some gas
Last story your bog brother sounds like a very nice guy !! Awsome he stood up for coworkers !!
Dark Fluff, you are absolutely correct. Manager in the story with the poison ivy violated several wemployment laws and OP could have sued.
That 3rd story is at least part of why they're putting cameras and mics in all the classrooms within the next 10 years or so. 99 times out of a 100 it will protect the teacher...just a guess and probably an exaggeration but I don't think by much.
What an amazing way to start the day, good to know that I have a friend!
Always a great day when darkfluff posts
Love the ending on the story! 🤣
I love the roadworks sign on the thumbnail: "Traffic is f*cked up for another 20 miles".
Glad people are standing up to jerks. You know that family in the end would have expected a free dinner.
Especially liked that last one!😆
How dare you not be willing to work harder than my child at my child's education
“I can’t relax, I’m in a cage” I almost couldn’t see the message in the intro but I got it 🤪
I don't think I've ever heard of a credit card having your picture on it unless it's a custom card and you happened to choose a picture of yourself as the decoration on the card...
One of the more prestigious credit cards did it briefly and marketed it as a more “secured card” (preventing identity theft) but it didn’t stay long before it was dropped. This was years ago.
The image of a 7ft 2in giant confronting tthe karens is soooo blessed!
DarkFluff along with his chained sidekick Steveo are here to save the day with a video to bring the gentle viewers a smile
"you're going to leave 20%+ for great service, right?" :)
That last one with the big brother chef was the greatest story I've ever heard after being in the food industry for around 15 yrs I would've loved to have someone like that working with me. That would've been great!!
That lady story, I can imagine OP’s brother storming out of the kitchen, to the table like a Resident Evil tyrant.
I had a toxic manager that was so rude that she actually wrote me up 4 times and I turned in a “Resignation Notice”, now if I had stated that she wrote me up 4 times(2 times for my hygiene and 2 times for my hair), that would have been a multiple red flag for her and not me.
Love the last story!
The last story is just amazing lmao
That last story is my favorite. I wish revenge was always that good.
Perfect! A darkfluff video just in time for the dinner.
Fuff, remember to give stevo some food and water
My primary two rules for my students are: "Go to the class," and "Turn sh*t in." 'Nuff said.
