I like both players and leading into the final, they played consistently but I sensed Maddi was going up a level each match. She looked terrific in Auckland at the ASB Classic as well and although she was beaten in the stages one could see she had a few things to iron out but it was all there. Congratulations on a wonderful tennis match and tournament. The groaning or whatever you call it from Sabalenka is really quite off putting. I am sure if a spectator made that noise each time a player hit the ball they’d be shown the door. Best to watch with the sound on mute, IMHO.

Hope she is not a one hit wonder as she is 29 years old now. She need 4 more grand slams before she retires. It is possible.
