2 marlin single handed, don't know anyone who has done that. I've never caught a marlin, but keeping the boat moving forward when you've got em close makes sense, they seem very relaxed.
It’s a bit of fun and drama that’s for sure, yeah if you keep them going forward they definitely don’t freak out as much... until your grab their nose!

Sam......up in the great lakes hear in the States they run "Planer boards" for a spread they crank out and have clips like outriggers seems like it would give you the same or greater reach as a full scale offshore fisherman kind of like your cast nest that open at the top nothing like that here and nothing the size of what you are throwing but then we will never get a chance to fish for anything like you have within sight of land and it is a good day with that dray screaming in the background

Hey mate, teasers work well if you have a few sets of hands on the boat, but for fishing solo I generally don’t run them. Just another thing I have to pull in after a hook up. I do use them occasionally for mackerel and things like that, but only if I’m really trying to make something happen👍

Depends how long you stick it out for Wayne, I have used just over 200L in a day before but I did over 300km for the day. A good morning session until lunch I’d use about 70-90L total depending on conditions. Yeah I should have mentioned that and the life jacket 🤦♂️
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
