I was on the edge about Trick Mirror but your review has convinced me to buy the book. Thank you for sharing your perspective and thoughts with much needed clarity and erudition.

I really, really liked this collection, especially The Story of A Generation in Seven Scams. I’m not quite ready to compare her to Didion-I think they have vastly different tones/voices, but I’m intrigued enough to look forward to her next work.

Thank you for following, we have similar tastes! I agree with you on Didion - Didion is a master and Tolentino is a promising younger writer and they are different, but there was a common theme they seemed to be interested in.

Great discussion! Didion is one of my literary gods. I'm glad to find your channel via the ever on-point Alex at whatpageareyouon. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I was reading this book already in Russian translation (my native language) and I was totally amazed! Totally agree with your review.
