Excellent vid. One TH-camr suggested holding down the rails with something wooden. I take a popsicle stick and cut off the end square with a pair of side cutters. The wood will not draw heat away from the rails or other parts.
An older slot car chassis builder many moons ago suggested oiling the inside of the oilite bushings before soldering. He said the heat will draw out the factory infused oil from the bushings.Pre oiliing the bushings also helps keep the acid flux from getting on the bushings making the axle stick.
