Hello friends, thanks for the reaction
Well, I will start by explaining some things that may not have been clear in this very sad episode. Most of it is in the Light Novels.
First of all, Clementine has a hobby of decorating her light armor using the plates of the adventurers she kills. When she murders the entire "Swords of Darkness" group, she makes sure to leave clues so that others believe that she took Nfirea down the sewers. But AInz is able to find its true location by using magic to serch for the plates.
The reason why Ainz uses so many scrolls is because he is thinking about what he did when Ygdrassil was a game and there were many ways to avoid magic detection and even attack anyone who tries to use tracking magic.
Maybe you didn't notice it or maybe you did, but it turns out that Ninya was actually a woman and her companions knew it. She probably disguised herself as men for safety, but what is certain is that Clementine delayed torturing before killing her. Ainz notices this and gets quite angry, but his emotional suppressor forcefully keeps him calm. However, his anger does not stop and so he constantly feels in a state of "disgust". So yeah, he's pretty angry, so angry that even the emotional suppressor can't quite calm him down.
We were all sorry that the adventurers died, but there are several reasons why Ainz couldn't revive them. The first was that doing so would draw a lot of attention and he still doesn't know if resurrection magic exists. The other is that resurrection magic comes with a cost, but I'll explain that later because it might spoil details of the second season.
In my case, I read the novel before watching the Anime, but I definitely felt sad about the death of all of them, especially Nynia's. And he also wanted Ainz to take revenge.
One detail that I haven't explained until now is that there is a fundamental difference in the creation of undead that Ainz uses. For example, he can summon Death Knights from corpses and then the creature remains in the New World indefinitely. He can also summon Death Knights without using a corpse, but then the creature disappears after a while, as it always did in the Ygdrassil game. When Ainz is wearing his armor he can't use magic, but the creatures he summoned are actually the product of a "Skill" so that's why he can use them. Also, they are much stronger than other beings because the one who summoned them is an Overlord-class Liche, but since they didn't appear from a corpse, then they will disappear after a while.
Generally the Undead appear naturally in the New World in all places where there are many corpses. That is why the city cemetery has a wall and posted guards. Normally they would make their rounds and kill any Undead they saw, but the Khajiit mage had been hiding them underground.
When Ainz arrives at Khajiit's ceremony place, one of his men alerts him, but accidentally uses his name, thus revealing the identity of the culprit behind the presence of the Undead Army. Ainz scoffs at this man's clumsiness and Khajiit glares at him for it.
Before fighting Ainz, Clementine brags and reveals quite a bit about her and others' strength. Apparently Gazef, who is probably level 29, can fight her but not beat her. That means that she who has reached the strength level “Heroic” must exceed level 30 or 31. That is the reach of the Heroic level. She also tells us that there is an individual in a group of Adamantite rank adventurers who could beat her.
Now, if you're level 29 and you fight a level 30 guy, you would be at a huge disadvantage. But if you has better gear or teammates to help , maybe you could be able to break the 2 or 4 level caps. So five level 30 guys could put up a fight against one level 35 guy or maybe win if a miracle happens.
But the difference between Ainz and Clementine is at least 30 Levels and that can't be overcome even with the Dragon Balls on your side. So he laughs at her and tells her: No matter how you fight, I won't have to use my full strength. Clementine thinks Ainz is insulting her, but in reality he is being condescending, which is worse in a way.
Before I finish I would like to recommend to both of you to pay attention to the post credit scene in the next episode.
I hope the comment has served you.

Guards are stationed at the cemetery since concentrations of the dead can cause undead to spawn and large concentrations of low level undead cause higher level undeads to appear, that is how Khajit is planning to make a death spiral. Poor Nabe, relegated to air transport of a big fuzzy hamster and chided by Ains for asking questions but soon she'll get to release her frustrations.

Here are some facts for this episode:
    • The Crown of Wisdom is a magical item that allows the casting of 7th tier spells through a mass ritual. Note that it requires the national power of the Slane Theocracy invoke a mere 7th tier spell. Of course, the effectiveness of this in direct combat is nonexistent. So, the Crown is usually paired with another national treasure of the Slane Theocracy - the Sealing Crystal from episode 4.
    • From the previous factoid, you should be able to infer the incalculable value Nfirea's talent possesses. He is the main reason Ainz demanded everything from Lizzie. Not including the New World, there are vast amounts of magic items in Yggdrasil alone that could be called game changers. But the author of Overlord and the developers of Yggdrasil loved adding drawbacks so many of these potent tools often have many limitations. Some of which are restrictions on who could wield them based on levels, stats, classes, karma, etc.
    • As an undead, Ainz has passive skill that allows him to detect other undead. That's the reason why he instantly knew that something was wrong the moment he stepped into Lizzie's establishment.
    • An astute observer may have noticed the oddity of stationing guards near a graveyard. I suppose it's the anime's attempt to hint at the unique phenomenon of this world of the dead turning into the undead. Anyways, only the rich usually can afford to purify all of their dead. And since commoners can't, they are usually buried in a mass cemetery. The idea being to concentrate all the dead in an easy to contain location with regular guards patrolling and culling any undead that spawn from there. This way, like putting out flames before it turns into a roaring fire, they can kill a Spiral of Death in its crib.
    • The situation at the graveyard was actually a lot more dangerous than the anime lets on. There were several higher grade variants of undead already spawning such as an organ egg - an undead which launches its intestines at its victims to wrap them and drag them towards itself. Even without the overwhelming numbers of other lesser undead, this was a situation that a few guards armed with just melee weapons could not handle.
    • Lesser undead such as skeletons and zombies are notorious for having low intelligence. And even if they did have glimmer of it, one of their traits is the lack of fear. However, the lesser undead became instincutally wary of Ainz with what little self-preservation instincts they did have.

You'd think it would be the job of the Clergy (the mook tier I mean) to mass-Purify graveyards tho (after all this ain't the only setting w/ shit like that as natural phenomenon, but various other settings have the noob clerics do that shit while the mid to high ppl don't give a fuck about such menial shit)

    • @RubicGirl
      @RubicGirl ปีที่แล้ว

@@skebaba918 It's probably a matter of cost effectiveness. It's usually that or political bs that's involved in things like these. I'd imagine it's just cheaper to have a small contingent of guards that are already being paid to do virtually nothing for most of their time to regularly kill some undead - which incurs no risk at all - than to pay the religious order who aren't under the control of the government. The only difficult thing here would be bringing all the bodies to the cemetery. But, a little motivation such as fear of the undead should get the populous to do it voluntarily.

@@RubicGirl I suppose it makes more sense in a series w/ LEGIT GODS, now that you pointed it out. In those series deities under whose domain Death or Samsara fall under, so they'd smite the cunts who claimed to be their followers but don't "kill all Undead" type of shit that their patron deity hates so much for obvious reasons (i.e go against their very Domain), so routine shit like ensuring assholes like Undead don't rise from cemeteries would obviously fall to the low tier clergy for a reason, lest the entire organization get BTFO by said angryboi deity in charge of said Concept. I guess it makes sense since the higher ups in Theocracy KNOW that the "gods" aren't actually gods, just giga powerful fuckers
