I am in awe as to the number of people who don't pull over in these police suites. I thought if you saw and heard them pull over. I know those chases can come up quick so why are you still driving the same speed as the chase then want to sue the city, county, state or all because of damage and injuries you sustained?!
You have to consider that the police and suspect aren't going at a consistent speed, slowing down, speeding up, this stuff happens so quick, just like officer involved shootings that nobody can really speak on it unless you've been in a similar situation as a video does not replicate that exact scenario as it played out in real life. By the time the average person notices a fleeing suspect doing 90-100+mph even with lights and sirens behind them and that same average person is doing the speed limit and not really keeping their eyes on the road, or slightlyt distracted by their radio or a phone call, those vehicles can be behind you in a split second. Take a crotch rocket with a loud exhaust on the highway for example, even if you have your windows down at 75-80mph, you can't really hear that well, by the time that crotch rocket rider decides to hammer down and pass everyone you, will just be hearing that exhaust scream by as you look over, and it will most definitely scare the shit out of you if you're not ready.

Geeze, I'm 76, and in all my lifetime, I have never occasioned ugly drivers!! We didn't even have to lock our cars or house. No thefts, no robberies ... our Halloween candies were 100% safe.
As a german I just looked up the number of police car chases for the US and germany and I was kinda shocked. First I would have never guessed that we also have around 500 to 1000 chases per year. Though in the US there seems to be 250k each year -.- That's essentially around 680 chases each day. So in the US there seems to be as many car chases in a single day that we have in an entire year. In the us there seems to be around 283 million registered cars, in germany only around 70 million. So the US has about 4 times the number of cars and over 300 times the amount of car chases. Why? We also play GTA, but sane people don't try this in real life -.- Crazy world with crazy people. Anyways, I hope everyone gets home safely

I love the analytical view. There are many variables that come into play. For perspective, I was raised in Heidelberg and in the States. There are some very good reasons why I choose to live in the States. Americans at their core have a much greater sense of self. As with anything, that has its advantages and disadvantages. A greater willingness to act lawlessly is a major disadvantage. Having had the benefit for the past decades of such a high standard of living, Americans love vehicular performance. The ratio of high performance vehicles in the US is certainly much more prevalent than the ratio of motor vehicles in general. I'm certain that contributes as well to the rate of police pursuits. Finally, I think geography is a significant element. Wide opens spaces are more abundant here. The number of people per square km factors into that as well I suppose. Across Europe and the UK is population density is close to 10 times that of the US.
The USA is also larger than Germany and I would think more people, and I believe Germans are somewhat taught to be more law-abiding than here (I hate to admit it, but it's true) or are more willing to abide by laws than some of our population. Our police are somewhat restricted by the lawmakers, and cases are either dropped completely or dropped down to lesser violations so that emboldens the criminals to continue to commit crimes.
There are lots of idiots in the US, and of course elected officials, prosecutors and judges who are willing to pander to their wishes - i.e. no accountability!
I feel so blessed that I got to live since the early 1900s to see this road rage stuff. EVERY state should have it that when you run and law enforcement has to chance you that you have to pay a $500 per mile charge and after 5 miles it doubles AND after 10 miles it's a $2000. fine FOR EVERY MILE AND 6 months for every mile. So figure up what a 20 mile chase will cost you.

I am in awe as to the number of people who don't pull over in these police suites. I thought if you saw and heard them pull over. I know those chases can come up quick so why are you still driving the same speed as the chase then want to sue the city, county, state or all because of damage and injuries you sustained?!
You can tell by their behavior that they did not see what was going on and thus did not yield.
You have to consider that the police and suspect aren't going at a consistent speed, slowing down, speeding up, this stuff happens so quick, just like officer involved shootings that nobody can really speak on it unless you've been in a similar situation as a video does not replicate that exact scenario as it played out in real life. By the time the average person notices a fleeing suspect doing 90-100+mph even with lights and sirens behind them and that same average person is doing the speed limit and not really keeping their eyes on the road, or slightlyt distracted by their radio or a phone call, those vehicles can be behind you in a split second.
Take a crotch rocket with a loud exhaust on the highway for example, even if you have your windows down at 75-80mph, you can't really hear that well, by the time that crotch rocket rider decides to hammer down and pass everyone you, will just be hearing that exhaust scream by as you look over, and it will most definitely scare the shit out of you if you're not ready.

Geeze, I'm 76, and in all my lifetime, I have never occasioned ugly drivers!! We didn't even have to lock our cars or house. No thefts, no robberies ... our Halloween candies were 100% safe.

As a german I just looked up the number of police car chases for the US and germany and I was kinda shocked. First I would have never guessed that we also have around 500 to 1000 chases per year. Though in the US there seems to be 250k each year -.- That's essentially around 680 chases each day. So in the US there seems to be as many car chases in a single day that we have in an entire year. In the us there seems to be around 283 million registered cars, in germany only around 70 million. So the US has about 4 times the number of cars and over 300 times the amount of car chases. Why? We also play GTA, but sane people don't try this in real life -.- Crazy world with crazy people. Anyways, I hope everyone gets home safely

@Bunny99s The U.S. is a disgrace. There are many metrics you could use to compare and the U.S. will always be way worse. Look at police involved gun shootings. Then compare requirements for becoming an officer. Look at incarceration rates. It's pure madness and we'll never learn.
I love the analytical view. There are many variables that come into play. For perspective, I was raised in Heidelberg and in the States. There are some very good reasons why I choose to live in the States.
Americans at their core have a much greater sense of self. As with anything, that has its advantages and disadvantages. A greater willingness to act lawlessly is a major disadvantage. Having had the benefit for the past decades of such a high standard of living, Americans love vehicular performance. The ratio of high performance vehicles in the US is certainly much more prevalent than the ratio of motor vehicles in general. I'm certain that contributes as well to the rate of police pursuits.
Finally, I think geography is a significant element. Wide opens spaces are more abundant here. The number of people per square km factors into that as well I suppose. Across Europe and the UK is population density is close to 10 times that of the US.
The USA is also larger than Germany and I would think more people, and I believe Germans are somewhat taught to be more law-abiding than here (I hate to admit it, but it's true) or are more willing to abide by laws than some of our population. Our police are somewhat restricted by the lawmakers, and cases are either dropped completely or dropped down to lesser violations so that emboldens the criminals to continue to commit crimes.
There are lots of idiots in the US, and of course elected officials, prosecutors and judges who are willing to pander to their wishes - i.e. no accountability!

EVERY state should have it that when you run and law enforcement has to chance you that you have to pay a $500 per mile charge and after 5 miles it doubles AND after 10 miles it's a $2000. fine FOR EVERY MILE AND 6 months for every mile. So figure up what a 20 mile chase will cost you.
