I grew up eating Bass in the 70’s and 80’s. The only reason people don’t eat them is that they were overfished so States and localities put restrictions on their size and people got used to throwing them back. Tv shows got into the catch and release thing so you all were raised thinking you cant eat them. They are delicious.

    My personal recipe is
    Italian breading
    1.25 cups
    1
    Egg
Garlic and sea salt 50/50 mix
    1 tablespoon
    Butter
    .25 sticks
    Olive oil
    1.25 tablespoons
    Lemon juice
    Half of the lemon
    Mixed spices
    Pepper
Mix the Italian breading, the salt mix and some of the spices
Put the bass into the egg
Put egg covered bass into the breading
Throw the butter, oil, lemon and some garlic into a pan
Let it cook until it has a golden brown crust
    Enjoy

Since I come from an Asian backround, I love cooking my fish in an Asian style. After you clean the fish, you cook the whole fish in Ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic. Tastes wonderful, especially with crappie.

I don't think it's sacrilegious at all. Animals eat each other for survival..is it sacrilegious when we eat steak or a hamburger? We are also a part of that food chain. And i honestly think that if we started catching and hunting our own food again instead of relying on the grocery stores all the time, we'd be in a lot better place healthwise as a society.

@@savagesavage7856 if the majority of Texas started relying on feral pigs for protein.. The population would drop so much they'd be endangered.
There are laws just to stop overfishing and overhunting with the amount of people that practice these activities rn for a reason.
Imagine if if that amount just got multiplied like 100x times, there will be nothing left to hunt or fish.
      Simple logic.

Personally I like to get all of the guts out and just leave the fish together after that. Just cook it evenly on a griddle in oil while adding lemon salt, the meat will fall out easily, and then just pick out the bones, which is also extremely easy, and then you're set.

You’ll probably never see this, but you should bleed any fish for plan to cook immediately after catching and dispatching it. The heart beats for several minutes after being dispatched and will pump all of the blood out when you cut the gills. This gives nice white meat which tastes much better.

Dont know what's so hard to believe about eating bass. I prefer them to allot of southern fish!
Mind you I now live in Northern Ontario, and wouldn't bother. Eat the trout, salmon, perch and walleye!

Taste better and the big ones are important to the bass ecosystem so if their is no big bass their is nothing to control those little ones and they will become stunted which means can only get under a pound or barely over and the biggest is around 2lb
