I love the white mat. I have one that I use. It allows you to better see the colors. The fact that it's magnetic is the cherry on top. Great to see you in your new room
I really like seeing the same technique used with the two types of Distress Inks. Seeing the results was very interesting. Thanks for doing this video.
You are so “rainbowy” today! It’s my fave color haha. Both samples at beginning were so vibrant. I was expecting the oxide one to be duller so that was cool. Love those inks so much!
Those cards are super! Looks kind of tie-dieish. Have a granddaughter who would love this technique. Thanks for making the edited replay. Don’t care for the lives. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks Kristina for another great video. I haven't used my original distress inks since getting oxides, must get them out and make some smooshed backgrounds!
So fun and festive! I like the white mat. Looks so clean but I guess it’ll also depend on the color of the supplies you’re working with to get the contrast. I love your videos! AND your awesome ideas ❤️
Gorgeous cards! I personally prefer the black mat because everything pops or stands out a bit better against it and is easier on my eyes. The white with the white cardstock felt bright, and like the camera had trouble focusing sometimes.
Wasn't sold on the two smooshed pieces until they were trimmed and adhered to card bases. On card #2, I would try using black layers under the color topper for the letters - might give more of a shadow effect. Will have to try this - thanks!
Kristina, thanks to you I love ink smooshing! Love your comparison of distress inks. I definitely need that white glass mat. Also, thank you for the stamping buddy (I may have name incorrect) on Etsy. I purchased both sizes. Gorgeous cards.
I really like the white glass mat. I don’t know if it’s because it’s different or if it’s reflecting the light better. Probably both. So nice and clean looking for sure! I always enjoy your videos!
Love these cards. Now for the big question.....are you going to do a tour of your new craft room video? Inquiring minds want to know...lol. Thanks so much for sharing. Hope you have a safe, fun and Happy 4th of July.
Kristina, I was so bummed that I missed the live yesterday! :( I had checked my TH-cam subscriptions list in the morning to see if you were doing one, & there was no announcement. I thought maybe something had come up & you had to cancel. I guess I must have missed an earlier announcement that you would be doing it later in the day than usual. I ended up having to go out of town yesterday afternoon to get the battery in my phone replaced (ugh), so totally missed out anyway. :( At any rate, I do love the cards you made, and especially those backgrounds. Thanks for demonstrating the regular Distress vs. Oxides side-by-side. I especially like your two-tier eclipse card (the hidden message one). I've done that technique with plain cardstock & patterned paper before, but I don't think I've ever done it with an ink smooshed panel. Might have to do that--it really looks cool! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I'll get to watch your live, live next week. :) Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
If you mean for ink smooshing, any non-porous surface will work. A teflon craft mat or even baking sheet, or the slick side of freezer paper are 2 options. The one thing I've noticed about at least the Ranger & Tonic craft mats is that, even with just Distress & Oxide inks, they do stain, so be aware. I use the Tonic Easy Clean mat for ink smooshing, because the back side is "grippy" & so doesn't slide around my work surface. For alcohol inks, I just use freezer paper, since they will stain non-stick mats. I hate the fact the paper ends up in the landfill, but I don't use it often, so I figure it's not that much in the grand scheme of things. Hope this helps! :)
Love the look of the Distress Oxides. I actually prefer the less vibrant effect. Are you going to eventually give us a tour of your new craft room? I love seeing other's craft rooms. It has been a while since I've done this. Now it is on my agenda for tomorrow.
Hi Kristina, I love your videos! I have a question about the glass mat. I bought one from another company but it has a bad glare. Does this one have a glare?
I’m pretty sure all glass mats would have a glare since they’re glass. Mine doesn’t have one currently because of the positioning of my overhead lights. Maybe try tipping the back of the mat (place something under it). That might be enough to relieve any glare you might have that’s bothering your eyes. A slightly different angle might stop the glare.
Yes, but keep in mind that Oxide is opaque & regular distress is not. Don't get oxide on your regular ink pads when smooshing. Tim Holtz did a fantastic live on TH-cam a couple months ago when he demos & explains so much helpful info.
I imagine the white mat could make filming harder since white seems to compete with lighting and causes some things to wash out, but I prefer it to the black mat. I can't see the discount code on the glass mat when I follow your link. Is there something I can add at checkout?
Love that you provide the edited version. Lives are not my thing. The cards are so great! Thanks!

Never been able to successfully do this with either Distress inks. Thank you for the edited version! I will persevere.
I looooove your edited lives and I'm so, so grateful you put them up! Your creations are always beautiful!!
Smooching is so much fun. Beautiful colors.
Brilliant!! This is how you and your cards look! ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜
maybe use the white mat for darker cards and the black mat for the lighter/brighter ones?
Lovely love your creative artwork painting video 💐 💐 👏🏾 👏🏾 💯 🖌️ 🎨 👏🏾 👏🏾
Great to watch. Love the colours and chunky die cut
This is one of my favorite techniques! I much prefer how the smooshing worked with the oxides. They are both great cards!
I really like seeing the same technique used with the two types of Distress Inks. Seeing the results was very interesting. Thanks for doing this video.
Beautiful!! My watercolour never works out as nicely as yours but I'll keep trying.

So grateful that you edited it from the live! Your designs are great!
Oh Kristina! Your room is so cheerful and bright. I love it for you! Thanks for another great video :)
i got a white glass mat awhile ago and love it. donated my black one. thank you great video
Love it!!! Especialy the oxide one. Gonna try it to but then gonna use glase on the sentiment to make it stand out a little bit more.
Your ink smooshes turn out way better than mine! The secret message is what we used to call an eclipse card back in the day. So much fun!
I really like the white mat so much better! I just ordered one with your discount code!!! Thank you Kristina!
Kristina, I love the dimension and inlay of the Birthday Wishes card! Need to try this....so fun. And, when do we get a tour of your new craft room?
Those cards are super! Looks kind of tie-dieish. Have a granddaughter who would love this technique. Thanks for making the edited replay. Don’t care for the lives. Thanks so much for sharing.
Love the new background! Your cards were beautiful! Thanks!
Love this and I enjoyed watching this from beginning to end!! 😊💕
These cards are beautiful! I love using distress and distress oxide inks!
Smooshing looks fun! Can't wait to try it!!!
I agree with Sandra K. That you made an eduted version. Thank you! I use a white glass mat I like by We R Memory Keepers.
Love both the cards, I particularly love the way the distress oxide ink smooshes. Can’t wait to see a tour of your new craft room all finished.
Both cards are really nice. I just love distress oxides. Thank you x
This is one of my favorite techniques. Congrats on the new craft room!!
Great tips with removing the mudding and other great tips. Beautiful cards!
Love these two cards Kristina! Thanks for sharing.
so cool love it and cant wait to try it I have a Tim Holtz black glass mat
Thanks Kristina for another great video. I haven't used my original distress inks since getting oxides, must get them out and make some smooshed backgrounds!

Beautiful, love them both!
Loved both cards Kristina. Thank you also love the white mat
Hi, this looks like fun and I will have to try it . Thank you fo4 for sharing ❤️ 😊 🙏
Great video! Answered so many questions for me. BTW the white mat allows the viewer to see better.
Fantastic cards. Thank you.
My fave was the puzzle pieced one!!
I love your new craft room!!! You look great!! And the cards look so cute!!! 😊
Love the white mat!

Very pretty cards!!

I wish you all the best , Really all are very nice
Both cards are beautiful! Personally, I prefer working with distress oxides. I love softer, smoother look.
Love both cards! If you don't have a glass mat, do you have any suggestions for an alternative?

@@andrealavigne7824 Thank you!
Which do you like better, just as far as the backgrounds themselves?
Love the look of the Distress Oxides. I actually prefer the less vibrant effect. Are you going to eventually give us a tour of your new craft room? I love seeing other's craft rooms. It has been a while since I've done this. Now it is on my agenda for tomorrow.

Can you ink smoosh with a mixture of oxide and distress ink colours?
Yes, but keep in mind that Oxide is opaque & regular distress is not. Don't get oxide on your regular ink pads when smooshing. Tim Holtz did a fantastic live on TH-cam a couple months ago when he demos & explains so much helpful info.
@@rgrdesigns Thank you so much. I will look up the video by Tim Holtz.
Gotta love Tim Holtz products.
They both seem to blend about the same, but I think I like the composition of the oxide card a bit bettet
I imagine the white mat could make filming harder since white seems to compete with lighting and causes some things to wash out, but I prefer it to the black mat.
I can't see the discount code on the glass mat when I follow your link. Is there something I can add at checkout?
You need to use the code KRISTINA20 to get the discount.
@@tonimcdaniel5388 thank you
@@n3rdygrl you're welcome
I think oxides are more dense
Kristina, marriage agrees with you. You look gorgeous!
The white was “refreshing”, but I bet in a few weeks the black will feel like a fun change.
I like the white mat better.
Hello from Australia
The wilted violet is because there is a purple and an indigo in a real rainbow. Do NOT know why everyone keeps leaving out purple!!
Just my opinion...Black mat is easier to see
Brilliant!! This is how you and your cards look! ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜
