About A League of Their Own: In 1943, Carson Shaw travels to Chicago to try out for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. There, she meets other women who also dream of playing pro baseball and makes connections that open up her world. Rockford local Max Chapman also comes to the tryouts but is turned away. I’m a sucker for dramatic moments in sports movies, when Kit hit that ball & started running she was not stopping, that look on her face rounding second & third was EVERYTHING 😢 Kit finally beat her big sister, priceless ❤️
No matter how many times I see this movie. I still love it...
Kit runs like a real athlete.
Shout out to Hans Zimmer's often overlooked, but unbelievably brilliant score for this film. It adds SO MUCH to this scene especially.
100% did not know Zimmer scored this movie!
It really adds nothing. Its just jibber jabber. If you want a score that adds sonething to a baseball movie the score for The Natutal by Randy Newman is far superior. Zimmer is and always will be a hack who uses intern composers and then slaps his name on it.
@@Teladian2 Well, I respectfully disagree - regardless of who may or may not have written it. I find the score timely, dynamic, and just as emotional as the movie itself. I do, however, 100% agree that Randy Newman's score to THE NATURAL is far superior - and one of the best scores EVER written for a sports movie.

I've read a million times that Zimmer is the biggest fake in the film industry. Sometimes you can tell that the criticism is just plain jealousy, and sometimes it's clear that the criticism is warranted.
But with Zimmer I don't know.
Why do you dislike him so much? I would enjoy finding something reputable about him... good or bad.

You’re actually holding the ball in your hand, not in the glove in that situation. Yes it might have been on purpose, but she would be holding the ball like that. Look up the video of Pudge Rodriguez getting run over and hanging onto the ball. Same play.

Nobody talks about how her and bob put all his deployment money on Racine. Dottie drops the ball and they collect. She makes Pete Rose look like Mother Teresa
The moral of the story is it was just a game, and losing doesn't mean all is lost. Love always wins in the end.
This movie will never be beaten by anything made today. Amazon should have named their show something else, and I swear they wouldnt catch the heat they are now. The show itself isnt bad, but people are tired of "remakes" and "re-imaginings" of their favorite movies. Make the show, dont steal a title from another movie just to draw fans in, not a good plan.

Rather than take the time and effort investing in a new franchise, they comb through the '80' and '90's looking for any IP they can milk for more money.
All of the ground work is done; very little creative work to do.
And somehow they still destroy most of what they dig up. They can't help themselves.

This movie is incredible.
This is such a well done scene. From the music to the editing to the acting. It is an emotional rollercoaster. I only realised that I wanted Kit to win after the ball drops. There are lots of details which are signs them all overcome things from earlier in the story, like Kit actually hitting a high one, Gardner managing to hit the relay fielder, Jimmy caring about the team, them all working as a highly co-operative group, Löwenstein showing Harvey that the women’s game is exciting and the climax being a super physical collision that might be seen in the men’s game.
I love this movie Geena Davis and Tom Hanks was great I’m not too sure about the new Amazon series but it will not compare to how good this movie is

I've been playing Softball since I was 7 years old. (53 now) I'll never forget the first time I stepped out onto that field. The dirt, the grass, the hot sun + great friends, I fell in love first time the ball hit my glove. ⚾ What an awesome game. ❤️🤠 This movie was the ultimate tribute to females that just have the game flowing in their blood! ⚾❤️🤠👍🏻🍻💥

Dottie knew that kit wasn't good at high balls but the twist is she was able to hit it no matter what and then dropped the ball at the end because she knew kit wanted it more than miss queen of diamonds. So telling the pitcher about the High balls cleared her name and planned to make kit win the game. Sister ❤️ love

The AAGPBL didn't play "baseball" as we know the game. They played a hybrid of fast pitch softball and baseball. For the inaugural season the pitchers threw underhanded with a ball larger than a baseball, but slightly smaller than a softball. Runners were allowed to lead off, steal, and slide. The infield diamond was smaller than a regulation baseball field, with base paths at 65 ft., and the pitcher's mound at 40 ft. The rules evolved almost every year. By the final season in 1954, the game was very similar to actual baseball rules with pitchers throwing overhand, base paths at 85 ft., the mound at 60 ft., and a ball with a 9 inch circumference.
Some things should be left alone from the reboot machine that is Hollywood these days. And this movie is one of them.

Haven't seen the new series yet, but I loved this movie, and I especially love how it portrays the time in American history when men were men and women were glad of it. All the while it was a story about women's empowerment, keeping the economy going, and the way of life going during those times. Great story, well told, and honoring how our country made it through the hell that was WWII.
Everyone knew their spot and there was no confusion about what gender people are.
You do realize there were just as many gay and trans people during this time right? They didn't just start deciding to be gay sometime in the 80s lol.

One of the greatest mysteries in movie history is whether Dottie intentionally let go of the ball or not.

Dottie didn't let up on her sister ever... not even at the end.. she told Ellen Sue to throw high fast balls knowing her sister couldn't hit them... the smile Dottie had shows how proud she was of Kit..

I love how this scene is historically accurate with having Racine win the world series just like in real life. However, they didn't play against the Rockford Peaches, but against the Kenosha Comets. The Peaches actually were in last place in 1943
