These 3 albums have some of the best guitar playing I have ever heard. Got them when I was 18, and it changed my whole perspective on what could be done, and how far out there you can go improvising. I can still hear a lot of him in my playing I've absorbed so much of it over the years. Great reaction!
*I have basic mechanical knowledge of of how the instrument works, and I have imagination. If I play a solo, I go against the laws of mechanics. If I play a solo, It's me against the laws of nature. .Frank Zappa. What a great solo !!! That album is fantastic !!! And You rode that horse very well !!!! THANKS
This solo is defintly on my top 10 Zappa solos. We used to play back in the days goes in 5/4! Thanks for quoting Zappa here. If Rory wouldent have done this I would have sent the request!
@@martinroland There are so many fabulous solos and extraordinary pieces, with Zappa, there can be hundreds of crazy requests...and yes this solo is Epic and one of my favorites too...
In Milwaukee, in 1978, september, I saw Frank Zappa for the first time... I was tripping my balls off on yellow microdot. The show opened with this number. Zappa became my favorite musician in the world... on that day.
Dude, this track is my absolute favorite guitar part from ANYONE. So cool to see someone react to it because I thought only I knew about this track it's so rare.
this is a 3 lp box so have a get go...so lovely how you pay attention to the backing...course it is so important and often a sympf in it self..these guyes an gils!!!! Thanks!!
This album has six albumsides. Side 6... is absolutely amazing. The whole album is fantastic....but SIDE 6.... is just fucking off the charts. Frank ended this album with a bang.
the backing melody and bass and drums are in 5 (5/8) it is easier to follow if you count it as 10... in other words...ten notes happen in the melody before it loops, which means it doen't finish with 8 notes...which would be 4/4... but 10 notes. Did that explain it a little bit?
If you are going to do Inca Roads again remember that the live video from a token of his extreme has IMHO distracting animation by Bickford. I think that's the one you did already. You may want to taste the version from the Helsinki concert audio only but a more mature version. th-cam.com/video/ozOE6bN1VWg/w-d-xo.html
This solo was from the early 1979 tour, and the guitar solo's on Joe's (except watermelon) were recorded live on the same 79 tour, i don't know if you know, the solo's were all live but the backing tracks were new and recorded in the studio, a technique Zappa used called xenochrony.
Regarding a revisit to Inca Roads, you might wanna check out the live video version from “A token of his extreme”. This performance provided the basic track for the album “One size fits all” version, (so you’ll hear it how it was played live w no overdubs) except for the guitar solo, which you can hear unedited on the “Helsinki concert” You can’t do that on stage anymore vol. 2. Anyway, the video has some interesting clay animation.

This guitar setup is exactly the same as from Joe’s Garage. At least to my ear.
This solo was from the early 1979 tour, and the guitar solo's on Joe's (except watermelon) were recorded live on the same 79 tour, i don't know if you know, the solo's were all live but the backing tracks were new and recorded in the studio, a technique Zappa used called xenochrony.
This track is 100% live, no xenochrony, but has 3 edits, including the one at 3:21 where you noticed a shift. Great reaction as always!
